NightreignNightreign Tier List for Playing Solo

While each individual Nightfarer has its strengths and weaknesses, some of them are likely to be stronger than others due to factors of RNG, difficulty, consistency, strengths of builds and more. This tier list covers the best Nightfarers for playing solo.

Nightreign Tier List for Playing Solo

Near the beginning of its release, the Elden Ring Nightreign devs patched the game to make it more balanced for solo play.

If you were already clearing the content before that as a solo player, you likely won't need this tier list.

After all, if you're good enough, you can clear the content with any Nightfarer, whether you're solo or any team comp.

This list is for players who are less experienced in the genre and want to give playing solo a shot to test their skills!

In most cases, you'll want to lean upon the Nightfarers that you have the most experience with but this list will help you stand the pros and cons of each one in a solo play context.

S-tier Explanations

Wylder

  • Since the Nightfarer was intentionally designed to have the most well-rounded kit, it's no surprise that he's an ideal choice for solo players.
  • His Passive, Sixth-Sense, makes solo runs more forgiving, giving you an extra life after every Site of Grace.
  • Claw Shot when used against larger enemies, allows Wylder a burst mobility option to dodge big swings.
  • Having a versatile pool of weapons makes him adaptable to any run and less susceptible to being troubled by RNG.

Ironeye

  • The Ironeye's mobile playstyle makes him the best character for solo players who want to play ranged.
  • He can kite enemies while simultaneously dealing damage and can use his Character Skill, Marking, as burst mobility to dodge boss mechanics.
  • His Passive, Eagle Eye, raises the floor of your loot due to its better drop chances, thus making your overall strength floor higher.

Executor

  • Executor is the most difficult of the S-tier bunch since he relies on parry timings, but he certainly has all the tools to be self-sufficient as a solo Nightfarer.
  • The Cursed Sword is the best defensive (non-ultimate) ability in the game, making you nearly invincible with good timings.
  • His ultimate, Aspect of the Crucible: Beast, offers a way to instantly heal to full and become tankier in dire situations.

A-tier Explanations

Raider

  • The Raider has a ton of offensive power and tankiness, so he's a great choice for solo.
  • However, his lack of mobility puts him a step lower than the S-tier Nightfarers. Be ready to take hits

B-tier Explanations

Recluse

  • Being a solo Recluse gives you the agency to always cast the Magic Cocktail spell that you want, since you don't have to worry about other Nightfarers and their damage type output.
  • Playing solo, she has the ability to hit the points of interest that have the magic items and spells that you need.
  • Her main weakness, however, is her glass cannon nature as she can be one-shot in many cases, but otherwise she has everything she needs from high damage output to being able to heal herself.

Duchess

  • The Duchess has high mobility but needs to find status effect weapons to scale her damage.
  • Similar to the Recluse, she has more agency in routing to find the weapons she needs, but compared to the Recluse, she doesn't have an inherent way to heal herself.
  • Her ultimate, Finale, isn't that impactful outside of giving you time to heal or set up a backstab.

Guardian

  • The Guardian has survivability in spades but lacks damage output (due to lower damage scaling).
  • Low damage output means being slower to kill enemies - this is a problem when you're on the clock and want to hit as many map points of interest as you can.
  • His ultimate, Wings of Salvation, loses a lot of its appeal since you don't have any allies to resurrect with it.

C-tier Explanations

Revenant

  • The Revenant's core issue in solo play is that her summons get quickly one-shot by Nightlords and challenging bosses and her Passive, Necromancy, has no effect on Day 3.
  • This makes her a worse version of the Recluse since you'll have to rely on spellcasting but rather than being strong in both Faith and Intelligence, she only scales well in Faith.
  • Similar to the Guardian, her ultimate, Immortal March, has a lot of value in teamplay due to its resurrection, but it loses a lot of value without allies. It does give your summoned family member a special attack, but only Sebastian's is worth noting.
