Ironeye - Nightreign Class Overview

Ironeye is a playable character class in Elden Ring: Nightreign. He's a fast and agile archer, that deals damage from afar. He is able to provide team with utility in form of better loot, deal massive AoE damage with his ultimate art, and mark enemies for increased damage done to the target. He posses enhanced mobility, namely a unique wall runnign mechanic.

While specifically centered around ranged combat, Ironeye possess melee options as well. He can backstab his target with a bow, dealing massive critical damage to the target, or cut his target with a dagger, while dodging backwards, creating much needed space for follow up barrage with arrows.

He is one of the more unique Nightfarers in Elden Ring: Nightreign, as the bow mechanics have been significantly improved and revamped in comparison to the original title, making bows in Ironeye's hands not only a viable, but a very strong option for continuous combat.

For his signature weapons, Ironeye prefers Light Bows, Bows and Greatbows.

Ironeye - Abilities

Passive Ability: Eagle Eye

Icon of Ironeye's Passive Ability - Eagle Eye

"A keenly observant eye discovers more items to obtain from foes."

Ironeye's passive ability allows him to increase loot rarity for himself and his teammates, making him an invaluable pick in any team composition. Currently, this ability inreases chances of obtaining epic and legendary armaments throughout your run, which can drastically increase offensive power of any Nightfarer.

Character Skill: Marking

Icon of Ironeye's Character Skill - Marking

"Cut foe with dagger, creating temporary weak point."

Ironeye performs a quick melee dash attack with his dagger and marks the enemy hit, dashing away to safety shortly afterwards. If positoned well, you can hit multiple enemy targets.

Marked enemies take increased damge from all sources. This ability has great potential to quickly burst any target with good team coordination, especially if paired with Duschess's Restage.

Additionally, this ability can be used defensively, as it allows Ironeye to dodge attacks and create much needed distance between him and the enemy.

Ultimate Art: Single Shot

Icon of Ironeye's Ultimate Art - Single Shot

"Fire powerful arrow that surpasses sound and ignores any defense."

Ironeye fires a powerful supersonic arrow that pierces through enemies and obstacles, dealing massive AoE damage after a brief delay, and staggering enemies and smaller bosses caught in the fire. This ability has the potential to take down large groups of enemies with a single shot.

Keep in mind that Ultimate Arts in Nightreign usually have a long cooldown, that can be shortened by killing enemies, rewarding aggressive playstyles.

Ironeye - Equipment

Starting Equipment

Ironeye starts each run on Limveld map with Ironeye's Bow, which comes with Mighty Shot Ash of War. This gives Ironeye access to ranged combat from the start, allowing him to keep his distance, and deal massive damage with his weapon skill.

He doesn't start with any melee weapon (apart from his dagger that he can only use as a part of Marking), leaving him vulnurable, when the situation calls for close combat.

Relics

Although begin anew at level 1 in Nightreign, there is some longterm customization progression you can do in the form of relics. These are equipped before an expedition, giving you a better start for your chosen Nightfarer. Each Nightfarer has three color-coded relic slots to start, the Ironeye's are YELLOW, GREEN, and, GREEN but you can change this load out later by purchasing from the Roundtable Hold merchant.

Ironeye - Leveling, Stats and Attributes

In Elden Ring: Nightreign, you can spend your runes at the Site of Grace to level up your character. Leveling up increases Hit Points, Focus Points (Mana), and Stamina. While not explicitly shown in the game, it also increases hidden attributes, such as Strength, Dexterity, Faith, or Intelligence.

Attributes Scaling

Ironeye's core attribute is Dexterity, allowing him to use ranged weapons to their maximum potential. He also has B scaling in Arcane, which will make Occult, Poison and Scarlet Rot infused Bows even deadlier, allowing Ironeye consistently apply status ailments on enemies from range.

Hit Points, Focus Points and Stamina Growth

WIth just a C scaling in HP, the Ironeye must rely on his mobility, Marking dash, and range to stay alive. His FP scaling is also at a C but he has a pretty solid Stamina scaling at B (same as Wylder).

Calculation

HP = 80 + (VIG * 20)

FP = 45 + (MND * 5)

ST = 48 + (END * 2)

Ironeye - Strengths and Weaknesses

As with every other character in Elden Ring: Nightreing, Ironeye comes with his own strengths and weaknesses.

His particular strengths are:

  • Being a ranged character, he can safely deal massive amounts of damage from safe distance, especially in a team setting, while someone like Guardian draws aggro and crowd controls enemies.
  • Ironeye provides massive utility for his team, increasing the quality of the found loot, such as Armaments, and marking enemies for increased damage with his character skill.
  • While shooting, Ironeye can easily stay mobile. He also gains access to enhanced mobility, such as wall running.
  • While not at all tanky, he can be a safe and relatively easy option for players who want to focus on raged combat, as opposed to someone like Recluse.

His particular weaknesses are:

  • Lacks defensive options while having a low HP pool. While Duchess gains enhanced dodging, and Executor gets deflection mechanic, he doesn't seem to have many options of constantly avoiding damage, other than his character skill and smart positioning.
  • Might not be the most optimal choice for solo runs, as a lot of enemies can gap close aggressively, leaving little breathing room for Ironeye.

Ironeye - Core Playstyle and Builds

Ironeye is heavily centered on using ranged weapons, and is not as useful in melee combat. He is able to deal consistently high damage from distance, so the most optimal builds for Ironeye are focused around that.

For weapons, we recommend sticking to:

  • Light Bows, if you want high mobility with damage trade-off
  • Bows to stay mobile, and deal high damage
  • Greatbows to support your team by constantly appying stagger to enemies
  • Ballistas for AoE, or as a secondary weapon for high damage single shots

For weapon passives, take anything that improves ranged damage. Improved Ranged Weapon Attacks (12%) is good option. Additionally, you can further boost Ironeye's ability to discover better items by keeping passives such as Improved Item Discovery (+30%).

Just as with weapon passives, your dormant powers should focus on improving your ranged DPS. Noteable examples are:

  • Improved Physical Attack power
  • Improved Stamina Recovery
  • etc.
