Not sure which Elden Ring Nightreign team comps to try out?
We've got you covered based on experience with the playtest and theorycrafting based on known abilities.
Since the game just launched, we don't know what the ideal setups are but this should help you understand the fundamentals of team comp building.
The Classes
If you're already familiar with the Nightfarer classes, feel free to skip this section.
Our classes will fall into 3 different categories: DPS, Utility, and Tank.
Some of the characters fill multiple roles while others only fill one.
Let’s go over where each character lies.
DPS
Wylder
Wylder is the jack of all trades, but his main role fulfills the DPS slot. He's the perfect beginner character and a great Melee DPS to learn with.
Recluse
Recluse is a spellcaster who works best from a distance while having a frontline to protect her. This is mainly because her spells take time, and you don't want them interrupted. She also has a ton of utility as well with shields, buffs, and more to support her team.
Ironeye
Ironeye is an Archer who works best when there is either vertical or horizontal distance between you and the target. They also offer some support since their passive also helps your team find better loot.
Executor
Executor is a Melee DPS with a Cursed Sword. He has some tankiness due to being able to parry and a transformation ultimate that gives him more max HP with a full heal, but he's definitely a DPS.
Utility
Duchess
Currently, the only character with gameplay in the utility category, Duchess is very good at enabling her team to either deal more damage or get through the battlefield unscathed, with her stealth making her very good at supporting specific DPS like Ironeye.
Revenant
The Revenant is a summoner class with pets that can fulfill different roles for damage, crowd control, or tanking. She also has an ultimate that can make your team temporarily immortal and instantly revive anyone who is downed.
Tank
Guardian
A mobile but very defensive tank with a shield to soak up a lot of damage, Guardian complements especially melee characters with his AOE buff he can give to the team to increase their defense.
Raider
Currently, the best supportive tank, Raider's ultimate enables Ironeye and Recluse to shoot from safety, making him the best tank for both of them. He also deals quite a bit of damage himself, allowing him to contribute to the DPS role.
Beginner Comp
This comp is very good to learn the game with, having a good mix of both damage and survivability.
Wylder can do a great amount of damage, while Guardian can help him amplify that with their buffs to defense, making this an especially good comp for Wylder.
Raider can also set up perfectly for hefty damage to posture to get those nice criticals in.

Raider
Ironeye Carry
This team is all about supporting and amplifying Ironeye. Raider and Duchess are his perfect partnerships, both providing amazing support for his great damage output.
Raider’s ultimate makes for a big platform for him to rain down from, while Duchess her stealth gives Ironeye an easy entry to any fight.
Where this team might fall short is if Ironeye were to fall, he is a big part of this team's damage, meaning that if he dies, so does their damage.

Raider
Duchess
Recluse Carry
This is the first team where we can be flexible about one of the picks. Duchess and Guardian both offer plenty of great utility for Recluse, one soaking up more damage while the other amplifies it.
All Recluse needs is space and time to cast her spells, which is something Raider gives her in ample amounts. Duchess can increase her damage by quite a bit with After-Image, in case you feel the damage lacking.
Guardian is the perfect replacement if you feel the damage is fine and you want an extra frontline. Recluse has plenty of damage to carry this team alone, meaning Duchess is not required.

Double Ranged DPS
In this comp, Raider is a must-have; without him, you have both no frontline and no safety. Recluse and Ironeye can do plenty of damage on their own, but together they can shred any boss.
The only problem is that because you run both of them in one team, you need a tank, Raider being the obvious choice here. This means you don’t have space for the flex spot of Duchess or Guardian.
Recluse is still pretty great with Raider with the healing of her ultimate, meaning Raider should have no problem staying alive while Recluse and Ironeye deal all of the damage.

Executor Frontline
This is most likely the hardest comp to play on this list. Mainly because it heavily relies on how good your Executor is. If he's good, this comp can easily shred bosses while not taking much damage as long as the boss focuses on Executor.
The Duchess sets up opportunities for Restage bursts, and can offer Invisibility in a pinch to help protect Executor.
Revenant can straight up make him immortal for a short while or resurrect him when needed. Her summons can also be used to frontline and manage aggro.
If your Executor is not good enough, however, this comp will fall short very hard, making it vulnerable to being one-shot by specific attacks.
Executor
Duchess
Revenant
Full Melee
A bit more of an aggressive composition that wants to run at an enemy and just kill them. Especially recommended for people who dislike the ranged playstyle.
It is a high-risk, high-reward playstyle with the nature of Duchess and Executor being more squishy than other characters as a reward for their high damage output.
Being fully melee, however, does mean that they lack any form of ranged attacks to either interrupt attacks or damage enemies from afar.
Wylder
Executor
Duchess
Immortal Frontline
This composition heavily relies on synergizing beefy frontliners with Revenant’s ultimate, making it an extremely durable team to play as. Team goes dow?, Revenant can resurrect them. Facing strong attacks? Revenant can make them immortal.
While Revenant can still do quite a bit of damage, she does rely on being protected since she has very bad scaling with HP, making her pretty squishy. That's where her 2 frontlines come in. Guardian is a must here, because if Revenant happens to go down, you can instantly resurrect her with Guardian's ultimate.
The other frontline is a flexible slot with either Executor or Raider, depending on your preference. Both are tanky in their own right with Executor being able to parry/ult and Raider being able to mitigate CC.
