While each individual Nightfarer has its strengths and weaknesses, some of them are likely to be stronger than others due to factors of RNG, difficulty, variety and strengths of builds and more. Here you will find our Tier List rankings for Elden Ring Nightreign.

Nightreign Tier List for Beginners
S-tier (Easy to pick up) Explanations
Wylder
The Wylder is an ideal choice for beginners due to his all-around playstyle and simple kit.
His Passive, Sixth Sense, is particularly great if you're new since it makes the game more forgiving, allowing you to cheat death once per Site of Grace rest.
Positioning and movement are key in Nightreign, so his Claw Shot makes it easier to be in the right place at the right time.
Lastly, his Ultimate Art, Onslaught Strike, is very easy to execute and get value out of.
Overall he's designed to help you learn the fundamentals - if you're a veteran souls player, you might want to choose someone else since the Passive only provides benefit if you're dying.
Guardian
If you want a simple Nightfarer that maximizes your Health and Stamina resources, Guardian is among the best in class.
His kit allows beginners to be very tanky and be more comfortable with taking enemy aggro.
Although you won't deal as much single-target damage as others, you'll be the reliable frontliner for your team.
His Passive, Shield Wall, lets him continually shield against attacks until his Stamina runs out.
Whirlwind, his skill, lets Guardian crowd control enemy hordes with knock ups.
Finally, his ultimate lets you deal area of effect (AoE) damage to enemies while also protecting your allies.
Raider
For beginners that aren't afraid to jump straight into the action and start swinging, the Raider is the choice for you.
Although he doesn't have shielding like the Guardian, the Raider is inherently tanky and resistant to knock downs.
He does have some additional complexity compared to Nightfarers ranked above him since his Retaliate Skill rewards good timing. However, in most cases, you won't have too much difficulty getting value out of it in combat, whether its on purpose or accident.
Totem Stela, Raider's ultimate, summons a massive pillar that gives instant value to your team in the form of high ground, terrain to hide behind, and a damage buff.
Ironeye
If you prefer to stay at long range over melee, the Ironeye is the perfect choice for beginners.
He's a bow-centric character that can nimbly move around while shooting (much faster than past souls games).
Compared to Wylder, Guardian, and Raider, Ironeye is very squishy so you'll have to mind your positioning more.
No matter how poorly you play, your Passive, Eagle Eye, will benefit your team with better loot chances.
To get the most out of Marking, his Ability, you'll need to coordinate with your allies but you can still get value out of it on your own.
Lastly, his Ultimate, Single Shot is best used when hitting multiple targets, but often times you'll just be hitting a single boss.
A-tier (Average)
Revenant
Although Revenant's playstyle can seem auto-pilot since she utilizes summoned pets, she is harder than our S-tier Nightfarers because she is squishy and demands more resource management from beginners
Her scaling for HP is incredibly poor at D and she lacks mobility so its easy for her to die, especially if you're in between summons.
Additionally, her best stat is S in Faith but she lacks FP regen - you'll need to find it from loot to put her spell power to use.
Speaking of her three summons, each one has their own management bar to keep in mind, adding to your mental stack during fast-paced runs.
Thankfully, her ultimate, Immortal March, is one of the easiest to use - you can make a big impact by preventing allies from dying or instantly reviving them if they're downed.
Duchess
Although the Duchess isn't among the hardest Nightfarers to pick up and play, she's certainly trickier than our Easy recommendations because her kit involves a lot of timing and coordination.
To start, her Passive, Magnificent Pose, allows you to chain together dodges when executed properly. However, she isn't very tanky with C scaling for HP so if you make a mistake, you're going to get punished.
Her Character Skill, Restage, needs you to coordinate with your teammates since it reapplies recent damage/status effects.
Lastly, her ultimate, Finale, makes you and your allies invisible which is another great option with coordination but doesn't provide a ton of impact compared to other ultimates in a vacuum.
If you're a beginner that is playing with souls veterans, they can help direct your timings. But she's tough to recommend if you're playing with randoms.
B-tier (Hardest to learn)
Executor
The Executor is the class designed for fans of Seikro - it's basically the flashy samurai class that really lets you show off your reflexes and micro mechanics.
This is because the Executor's core mechanic is his Cursed Sword, which rewards you for being able to consistently parrying enemy attacks.
Doing so unlocks a glowing blade with additional attack power and other benefits.
Aspect of the Crucible: Beast, the Executor's ultimate, does make him slightly easier than the Recluse since it's a transformation that instantly increases your max HP and heals you to full.
But overall, unless you're willing to take a lot of punishment to learn parry timings, the Executor is best avoided for beginners.
Recluse
Lastly, we have the Recluse, the most complex Nightfarer in Nightreign by far.
To keep it short, the Recluse can cast from a long list of Magic Cocktail spells that are determined by sequences based on recent elemental damage dealt.
You can see the full list of her Magic Cocktail spells here, each with their own unique effects.
She's difficult because to play her effectively, you'll need to not only know her potential spells, but also keep track of what elements your allies can deal and coordinate with them to deal that damage at the right time.
Otherwise, you're sort of just casting random spells at the mercy of what's happening around you.
We recommend saving the Recluse for after you get more experienced with the game in general and when you have a team you can communicate with.
