Build Overview

Gun Gal Vex!

This is a Vex gunslinger style build that has a flexible focus on bleed and general gunplay.

It has very potent baseline damage for just about anything. It abdicates most kill skills in favor of stacking movement speed and passive damage boosts through bonus elements to hit big numbers without needing weapons that are highly synergistic with Mortal Terror.

Weapons that have a shoot-reload loop feel great here, but are not the only focus.

A video guide is also available!

Interested in a kill skill build? I recommend LDKSVB.

Strengths And Weaknesses

  • High damage
  • Nice weapon variety
  • Movement and flow
  • Kinetic focus. Can use elemental weapons but ideally through quick swaps

Build Variants

Default skill tree setup.

Focused on pushing the shoot-reload burst damage loop to the max while maximizing bleed ticks. Still has great access to many types of weaponry.

Vexcalation

Guns and Needles and Fiendish Invigoration

  • More frequent repkit usage, which in turn means more fire rate and movement speed, which feeds back into our gun damage and overall DPS.
  • Can cooldown our repkits even while they're active, causing them to be ready to use whenever their effects end.

Bloodletter

  • Excellent passive damage that scales from from all our boosts. Can double dip skill damage on Blood Shot.

Leeching Attunement, Essence Leech and Blood Is Power

  • Both skills here feed Blood Is Power, which in turns gives us a very large Kinetic Bonus Element and a very strong damage baseline. The Teen Witch COM will add a further 10% that gets tripled into the bonus element, and any more you get from kills if it has a Grave Thirst roll.

Target Prescience

  • This is a per-pellet, per-bonus element crit chance (rolls individually for each of those). It has decent synergy with shotguns and multiple instances of damage in general.
  • Alternatively, take points out of Target Prescience and put them into Sanguine Fiends for Dead Ringer + Specters + Coven access.

Conjunction

  • This is technically an anti-synergy with the Amp Watts 4 Dinner. However, the shieldsteal effect from Teen Witch makes sure we get nearly full bonus on every shot.
  • This is also useful gun damage for I Am A Gun, and therefore is a double boost to Bloodletter.

Blood Shot

  • We invest one point here because it gives us access to skill damage on one gunshot after using a Repkit.
  • This is very useful for hard-hitting weaponry and underbarrels, like 'Space Laser', 'Spread Launcher' and 'Shrapnel Cannon'.

Grave Harvest, Geistwave and Witchy Trigger Finger

  • For action skill uptime during mobbing, use Grave Harvest.
  • You have the option of swapping to Geistwave for bosses, good for bursty weaponry.
  • You have the option of swapping to Witchy Trigger Finger for bosses, good for deep mag and/or sticky weapons.

Heartpiercer

  • You can equip this if you want. Eldritch Blast is not doing anything for us here and this can turn off Blood Is Power if you accidentally use it.
  • You can, however, get bossing use out of it alongside Witchy Trigger Finger. Do keep in mind though that the Heartpiercer animation is slow for WTF ammo returns, and its effect also briefly turns off Blood Is Power.

The Fourth Seal

Idle Hands

  • Great DPS boost for a very low cost, and easy to maintain.

Weapons

These are some of my favorites, but you can give most good weapons a shot.

Do remember we're only at max power while wielding Kinetic weaponry. That's our biggest limiting factor, but it hardly impedes you from using elemental weaponry if needed, especially if they're quick swaps.

T.K's Wave

Extremely high base damage. Access to lots of licenses.

  • Atlas (Grenade Underbarrel) or Atlas (Dart Underbarrel) on one of these can make bossing with them very fun and easy.
  • Torgue (Sticky Mag) or Torgue (Impact Mag) can work well, and can spawn alongside the Atlas licenses, making for good Enhancement synergy.
  • Tediore (Shooting Thrown Gun) can be legitimately nice, though not exactly the best on this setup. Check out Yeet Witch Vex.
  • A pure high-end Jakobs roll can get around 2,8k base damage, and is great overall.

Oscar Mike

  • With the absurdly powerful 'Space Laser' underbarrel. It benefits from Amp, Blood Shot and all our bonuses, and then bleed too on top of that. Can get Torgue and Jakobs-licensed parts.

Jakobs Shotgun

Here you have options, in the form of Balor or Dullahan Jakobs Shotgun, or even another legendary. This could also be just an underbarrel slot or another general gun slot.

  • 'Spread Launcher' underbarrel is an obvious pick that can trivialize any encounter.
  • Daedalus (Underbarrel/Multi-Loader) 'Sniper Mode' is amazing on these.
  • Hot Slugger is a great option and has some chunky bleeds.
  • Hellwalker is a pretty great gun for mobbing and general use, although unfortunately its change to Fire damage directly hurts its potential on this build since it won't benefit from our kinetic boosts and Leeching Attunement. You can sort of cycle it and a kinetic weapon for attunement uptime I guess.

Seventh Sense

  • With Daedalus (Underbarrel/Multi-Loader) 'Sniper Mode' or 'Shotgun Mode', this can be very nice for either bossing or mobbing.

Rooker

  • Nice opener before any fight, since you can Repkit and Blood Shot it. The underbarrel can annihilate bosses by itself, and also act as passive damage during mobbing, since you can shoot out the needles and swap back to another weapon, then repeat when they're gone.

Order AR

  • With the Kill Drone underbarrel, this is another nice fight opener.

Infestation; Prince Harming; PhageRipper SMG

  • With Torgue (Sticky Mag) or Torgue (Impact Mag), alongside Jakobs (Ricochet Accessory) and the 'Shrapnel Cannon' underbarrel. This underbarrel can melt bosses easily.

Other weapon options include:

Repkit War PaintTriple BypassOrder Repkit

War Paint with any of Enrage, Reload Speed, Movement Speed or even Amp, situationally.

Triple Bypass with Amp for bossing with hard-hitting underbarrels/nuke-style weaponry.

Triple Bypass with a nice complementary roll like Enrage, Reload Speed or Movement Speed can be nice for general use.

Order Repkit since it has two charges. Take two complementary rolls from the examples above.

  • Note: 'Leech' (Lifesteal) Repkits do not apply to Blood Is Power.

Ordnance Jakobs GrenadeSlippyFirepot

'Crit Knife' Jakobs Grenade is free damage for bossing.

Slippy is good for dealing with vile crystals and has good damage in general.

Firepot is solid.

Class Mod

Stat rolls to look out for on any Class Mod are:

  • Kinetic Damage
  • Gun Damage
  • Gun Crit Chance
  • Fire Rate
  • Reload Speed

Teen Witch

This class mod does a lot of heavy lifting, sustaining our health, shields, amp and further boosting Blood Is Power through its passive Lifesteal.

For skill rolls, prioritize:

  • +3 Grave Thirst; +4 Conjunction for the much higher potential due to Grave Thirst feeding into Blood Is Power.
  • +2 Corporeal; +5 Conjunction for maximum passive damage boosts. It won't peak at all peak as high as a Grave Thirst roll, but is constant for boss damage since we have no Mortal Terror.

Psion Vex Class Mod

Good for general use. Excellent for bossing with burst damage/high base damage, like Oscar Mike, 'Spread Launcher' and similar.

For skill rolls, prioritize:

  • +5 Bloodletter; +2 Leeching Attunement or +2 Material Components

Shield Watts 4 DinnerGuardian AngelSuper SoldierProtean CellFirewerks

Watts 4 Dinner

  • With 150% Amp, this is our main option. Siphon + Amp is ok if not using Teen Witch.

Guardian Angel

  • If using the Psion Vex Class Mod, consider a 150% Amp version of this, especially for the big hitter style weapons.
  • Another reason to use this shield in general is if you don't want the Watts 4 Dinner shock taking up bleed stacks through its own bleed procs. It can be an issue depending on weapon.

Super Soldier

  • Has great synergy with higher mag size weapons.

Protean Cell

  • Extremely easy to maintain with Teen Witch, and its bonus shock damage will even apply to bleed DoTs.

Firewerks

  • Can make mobbing an even further cakewalk because the missiles are gun damage, will inherit our bonus elements and will wipe mobbing sections on their own.

Enhancement

The baseline for enhancements is: match your enhancement to you weapons or licenses.

You will inevitably run into overlaps between manufacturers and licenses, where guns will fit any of the enhancements. You will have to judge for yourself what fits best in that case, since I cannot really cover for every possibility here. So, experiment with stuff, that how one finds out cool things anyway!

Stat rolls to look out for on any Enhancement are:

  • Gun / Gun Type Damage
  • Gun / Gun Type Crit Damage
  • Gun / Gun Type Equip Speed (works on mode switches too)
  • Gun / Gun Type Fire Rate
  • Gun / Gun Type Reload Speed
  • Gun / Gun Type Magazine Size

Some weapons will benefit more from something like mag size, others not much. Apply your own judgement.

Multistrike; Quintain; Piercer Jakobs Enhancement

  • Great for Jakobs or Jakobs-licensed guns. Multistrike has the highest potential damage. Quintain has nice utility.

Pumper; Studfinder; Head Ringer Torgue Enhancement

  • Great for torgue or torgue-licensed guns. These can go very well with either Gyrojets or Stickies.

Combo; Nexus; Junction

  • These can be nice for bossing with Atlas-licensed guns. Also pretty nice for sticky weapons that have Atlas license.

Hephaestian; Gatherer; Scion

  • Great for Daedalus and Daedalus-licensed weapons, like a Stray with Daedalus Mode Switch.

Hero of Bullet; Dog Movement; Bullet Hose or Underdog Vladof Enhancement

  • Good for Vladof weapons and Vladof weapons that have any underbarrel/mode switch attachment.

Class Mod FirmwareHigh Caliber
Shield FirmwareDeadeye
Enhancement FirmwareHigh Caliber

Combinations

3/3 Deadeye; 2/3 High Caliber

  • Default general setup that benefits nearly every weapon in some way.

3/3 Deadeye; 1/3 Heating Up; 1/3 High Caliber or 1/3 Oscar Mike

  • Setup for maxed reload speed on one-shot reload weapons.

3/3 High Caliber; 2/3 Deadeye

  • The piercing effect is nice when paired with splash weapons, since you can shoot through enemies for a double hit once the splash hits the ground.

3/3 Daed-dy O; 2/3 High Caliber or 2/3 Deadeye or 2/3 Atlas Infinum

  • Very nice setup for weapons that have mode/underbarrel switches, like Bonnie and Clyde, Rooker, Atlas, Stickies, Daedalus etc.

2/3 Deadeye; 2/3 High Caliber; 1/3 Heating Up

  • Balanced do-it-all approach. No mechanics just pure passive boosts.

Specialization

Specialization 1Bullet Train
Specialization 2I Am A Gun
Specialization 3Riddle You This
Specialization 4The Best Defense

Combinations

Bullet Train; I Am A Gun; Riddle You This; The Best Defense

  • My default choice of specializations. More gun damage mean better bleeds, and then we boost bleed again through I Am A Gun, while also having a double dip in the form of The Best Defense.

Bullet Train; I Am A Gun; Contamination; The Best Defense

  • Same principle, however we give up some damage for guaranteed bleeds at 10 stacks of Contamination, which is excellent for consistency and damage. May feel better or worse depending on weapon.
  • Riddle You This can be a replacement to Bullet Train here depending on playstyle and weapon choices.

Gameplay

Mobbing

Pop your Repkit of choice and slaughter! It cannot be more straighforward.

Guns tailored to a fast pace will be naturally inclined to a better-feeling gameplay here, but you are completely free to experiment, since this is also a potent Bloodletter setup.

If you intend to use Dead Ringer + Coven, pace your summons well so that you don't end up with zero charges too frequently.

Bossing

Your first option is using the heavy-hitter underbarrels like Oscar Mike, Rooker, Spread Launcher etc. Pop your Amp Repkit for Blood Shot access and just delete the boss.

Your second option is simply using any of the good bossing guns. I like:

  • T.K's Wave, pure Jakobs, or Atlas licensed (can also have Torgue or Torgue + Atlas)
  • Underbarrels like Oscar Mike, Rooker and Spread Launcher (pop repkit for Amp and Blood Shot)
  • Seventh Sense with Sniper mode or Ripper license
  • Balor Jakobs Shotgun with Sniper mode
  • Phage / Infestation / Prince Harming with Torgue (Sticky Mag) and the Shrapnel Cannon underbarrel
  • Complex Root, Atlas and/or Jakobs-licensed, maximum potential if doing a quick swap to it to keep up Leeching Attunement
  • Anarchy, with Torgue (Impact Mag) and/or Sniper mode
  • The list goes on.

Depending on the gun, the Amp Repkit might not be more valuable than sustained DPS through some other boost. Apply your own judgement per gun.

If you intend to use Dead Ringer Specters + Coven for bossing, avoid summoning all three Specters inside the arena so that they don't override your bleeds. Summon two outside and one inside, or all three outside.
