Build Overview

BLOODWIRE Minion Vex!

Story Pack 1 is REQUIRED for this build.

Build is still under testing so it might change a bit. Build variants that involve a lot more more player-side action are also being worked on :)

This setup is 100% centered around minion usage through Vex's Configuration Class Mod and the Deadwire skill.

The Blood Rifts spawned from Configuration inherit some On-Shot gun modifiers and benefit from On-Hit gun modifiers.

Their initial damage is based on half the held weapon's card damage during the time of summoning, meaning we can hold an Air Strike Underbarrel Torgue AR while spawning the rifts for maximum damage! Through this we can achieve massive damage from Deadwire which in turn translates into powerful bleeds from Bloodletter.

  • Build made in collaboration with Iserrot.

Blood Rift Remnant Formula

[ (Card Damage x 0.5) x (1 + Enhancement Gun & Type + Enhancement Damage) ] x [ (1 + Gun Damage + Minion Damage + Skill Tree & Class Mod Splash + Soup ) + Critical Modifier ]

Strengths And Weaknesses

  • Actual Minion Build
  • Good damage scaling due to almost full gun formula access
  • Gear-dependent
  • Requires Story Pack 1

"But then why not Trouble with Phase Phamiliar?"

Because spamming Blood Rifts with him requires massive investment into his cooldowns for attack command spam, or into his survivability if using Violent Outburst spam. He's also a very (very!) low intelligence creature that has bad Mortal Terror proc rates, low HP that gets one-shot by some of the dangerous mobs, and bad AI. Remedying this takes points from damage skills, and it's all just so he doesn't suck as much, because he will still suck.

Through Dead Ringer we get a long duration 'Action Skill Active' state (the crossed-arms summoning animation), and skip all the Trouble mess. We also get to use Specters for Mortal Terror on bosses, alongside getting full access to our damage skills. The three charges also allows us a lot of wiggle room. This ends up perfect for a strictly minion-oriented setup.

  • For bossing, Dead Ringer is not without flaws though. As per usual with Vex minions, they do their utmost best to sabotage your builds. Unfortunately this means we run into some anti-synergy due to Specters being able to rob Deadwire procs and override bleeds with their bad damage, but it still turns out to be the most effective setup for a pure minion approach.

Here Comes Trouble

Grave Sustenance and Enchantment (or Blood Is Magic)

  • Grave Sustenance allows us to near-indefinitely stay on the Dead Ringer summon animation, which counts as an Active Action Skill and enables our Blood Rift Remnants to benefit from Enchantment.
    • If you don't intent to stay on the Dead Ringer summon animation, then grab Blood Is Magic, Hasty Fiends and/or Overprotective.

Mourning

  • Increases the percentages of every single one of our kill skills, including Grave Current which applies to Deadwire.

Keen Fiends and Reawakening

  • The Crit Chance from Keen Fiends applies to both the Blood Rift Remnants and Deadwire
  • Cooldown returns from Reawakening can help have at least one charge of Dead Ringer always available.

Grave Current and Deadwire

  • The Bonus Shock from Grave Current stacks up to massive amounts, up to 312% at six stacks due to Mourning and Grave Power. It applies to Deadwire.
  • Deadwire is one of our main damage dealers here, carrying a lot of bossing potential and resulting in great bleeds.

Vexcalation

Grave Sights, Grave Implements, Grave Power and Mortal Terror

  • Kill Skills provide a massively higher peak of damage than going without any, as long as one has the means to use them effectively.
  • Mortal Terror grants us that effective way to trigger Kill Skills during bossing by using Dead Ringer Specters.

Bloodletter and Keen Mind

  • Bloodletter is excellent since it is a way to funnel excess soup into a new source of damage, which both out Blood Rift Minions and Deadwire can trigger.
  • Keen Mind is some very welcome skill crit chance that will apply to Deadwire and Bloodletter.

WEAPONS

Torgue ARFleabagPotato Thrower IV

MAIN STAT STICK. With the Airstrike Underbarrel, which reaches up to 129k Base Damage at level 60, these are the best-in-slot to hold while spawning the Blood Rifts. You must have the underbarrel mode active while doing so.

  • The second best-in-slot stat stick is Knife Launcher Underbarrel Jakobs Shotgun.

You can also Repkit for Amp and shoot the actual Airstrike Underbarrel on Crystal enemies to help your minions handle them. Just remember to also carry another Airstrike in this case, otherwise when it goes on cooldown you won't have the underbarrel available to spawn strong Blood Rifts with.

Order ARGoalkeeper

Kill Drone Underbarrel. Fits perfectly with the minion theme and is something you can (optionally) swap to and shoot out after you already activated Blood Rifts with the Torgue AR.

Preferably find versions with Torgue (Impact Mag), since that has more damage and enables the Head Ringer Torgue Enhancement damage boost. It also lets you shoot the actual gun at Crystal enemies somewhat effectively due to the splash damage, helping your minions against them.

  • The Goalkeeper cannot roll Torgue (Impact Mag), making the Epic Order AR the strongest option of the two if you find one.

Tediore Pistol

Attack Drone Underbarrel. Another thematic fit, and is something you can (optionally) swap to and shoot out after you already activated Blood Rifts with the Torgue AR.

These drones are comparatively much worse than the Order AR Kill Drones, but they have Splash Radius on their hits. This can be somewhat useful against Crystal enemies.

Jakobs ShotgunMaliwan Shotgun

Spread Launcher Underbarrel Jakobs Shotgun to nuke Crystal enemies. They are a major weak point of the build and since they deserve no sympathy at all anyway, just nuke them.

Beam Tosser / Energy Disc Underbarrel Maliwan Shotgun are also good options, through they don't deal with Crystals as well.

Other Weapons

You can just bring any weapon you like along.

Hot Slugger, Darkbeast etc. They won't perform very well, but should be competent enough if you ever need them.

REPKIT

Kill Spring, Triple Bypass, Order Repkit and War Paint are all good picks.

Look for these effects, or combinations of them if applicable:

  • Accelarator (Adrenalized)
  • Enrage (Experimental)
  • Amp (Amplified)
  • Leech (Parasitic)

ORDNANCE

Crit Knife Jakobs Grenade

  • Inescapable DPS increase for the minions, and utility for Mortal Terror

Lingering + Exacting Grenades

  • Can be somewhat helpful for Mortal Terror

CLASS MOD

On Class Mod stat rolls, look for:

  • Gun Crit Chance or Skill Crit Chance

Configuration

+5 Deadwire; +Any

All the other skill rolls are pretty lackluster compared to Deadwire.

SHIELD

Watts 4 Dinner

With Siphon rolls. Good and easy-to-use boost for bossing. Can steal Deadwire procs though which sometimes means it can be a disservice.

Firewerks

Excellent for mobbing.

Defensive Shield Options

Onion, Hopscotch, Cindershelly and Pandoran Momento are all decent choices for a more defense-oriented approach.

ENHANCEMENT

On Enhancement Stat Rolls, look for:

  • Gun Damage
  • Gun Type Damage
  • Weapon Equip Speed

Head Ringer Torgue Enhancement

Unnegotiable damage boost that applies to the Blood Rift Remnants. Access to three stat rolls.

3/3 Skillcraft | 2/3 High Caliber

  • Most comfortable and easiest to use firmware setup since it works without extra steps and the boosts are good.

3/3 Daed-dy O | 2/3 Skillcraft

  • Most potential damage firmware, but requires playing around the Daed-dy O damage boost. It only must active while you spawn the rifts, so it snapshots into them.

Gameplay

Mobbing

Have your Airstrike Underbarrel Torgue AR in hand and make sure it's on the underbarrel mode.

Press Action Skill Input to spawn a Configuration Blood Rift. This will put you into Dead Ringer summoning state (the crossed-arms animation), which counts as an Active Action Skill and allows your minions to benefit from Enchantment.

To spawn another Blood Rift, press Action Skill Input again to cancel the Dead Ringer summoning state and refund you some cooldown. Then press Action Skill Input to spawn another Blood Rift (the limit is two at once), and then you can stay on the Dead Ringer summoning state again for Enchantment.

Pick good spots for the Blood Rifts. Give them line of sight and avoid spawning them close to walls.

Avoid actually spawning Specters or Reapers during mobbing since that will eat into your cooldowns. It's not a problem if you do though, just remember it will cost a full charge's worth of cooldown.

Bossing

Have your Airstrike Underbarrel Torgue AR in hand and make sure it's on the underbarrel mode.

Spawn two Specters. Preferably In harm's way so they potentially die quickly but still get enough shots off to trigger some Mortal Terror. This will also spawn two Blood Rifts.

With the third Dead Ringer charge, you use it to enter the summoning state and activate Enchantment for your Blood Rifts.

  • Since this will also spawn another Blood Rift, it will despawn one of the first two, so you can wait for a Blood Rift to run out to perform this step if you're not in a hurry to melt the boss.

We want the Specters to die because Vex minions are poorly designed and eat into your bleeds and share skill procs with the player. This means Specters can rob your Deadwire triggers and make you hit bleed cap very quickly. So, ideally we want them gone quick after they've done their service to Mortal Terror.
