Overview

This Aion 2 Beginner Guide covers ten things to do when starting out, from unlocking your first Expedition and improving your equipment to choosing skills and making use of pets, titles and Power Shards.

A huge thank you to Ulfhednar for his beginner tips! Be sure to check out his channel for more Aion 2 content.

Reach Level 22 to Unlock Your First Expedition

Work towards level 22 and unlock your first Expedition dungeon. Reaching this point starts your Odyle Energy regeneration, allowing energy to build up while you continue leveling.

Odyle Energy is used to claim rewards from the chest at the end of a dungeon. These rewards can include equipment, Refining Stones for crafting and Enhance Stones for upgrading gear.

Save your energy during leveling, particularly by avoiding Exploration mode dungeon rewards. Improve your combat power through other available upgrades first, then use your energy when you can access higher content.

Avoid Overinvesting in Early Gear

The main story introduces equipment enhancement, but its material costs can build up quickly. You will replace early equipment regularly through quests and other rewards, so avoid spending too much on pieces you will only use for a short time.

Your Revelation Amulet is worth paying attention to. This is a permanent item that you can improve in quality, so upgrade it when you obtain the required enhancement scrolls.

For a closer look at which upgrades to prioritize, our Aion 2 gear score guide covers equipment enhancement, passive boards and dungeon rewards.

Collect Feathers for Amulet Upgrades

Collect feathers around the map and turn them in at the Monolith. It shows how many feathers you need for each level and the rewards you can earn.

These rewards include the scrolls used to enhance your Revelation Amulet. Upgrading the amulet improves its stats, including penetration, helping you deal more damage.

Feathers no longer provide skill points in the global version, but the amulet upgrades still make them worth collecting.

Other accessories, including your belt, require different enhancement scrolls. Use the amulet scrolls you earn from feathers to keep improving your Revelation Amulet.

Set Up a Combat Macro

The in-game macro system lets you put skills into a sequence, making your basic rotation easier to manage.

For Gladiator, start with your damage buffing opener, follow it with Overhead Slash, then add your regular mana-spending attack.

Bind the macro to right click and use it alongside your left click mana-generating attack. Holding both buttons lets you generate mana while using the attacks in your macro.

For this setup, set the macro delay to 10 milliseconds.

For more ways to adjust your controls, our Aion 2 settings guide covers targeting, flight keybinds and combat visibility.

Choose Your Skill Specialties and Stigmas

When a skill reaches level 8, it unlocks its first Specialty. This lets you choose between three additional effects.

For Gladiator, useful early choices include increasing the mana restored by your resource generating attack and allowing your mana spending attack to be used while moving. The extra mobility helps when handling dungeon mechanics.

Around the time you unlock your first dungeon, you will also gain access to Stigma skills. These are additional abilities you can choose for your setup.

Early Gladiator options include Rage Burst or a buff that improves damage and accuracy. Check your available Specialties and Stigmas as they unlock so you can make use of these bonuses.

Add Stats With Manastones

Manastones let you add extra stats to equipment through the Enhancement menu.

Select Manastone, choose an eligible item and engrave it. The result is random and can provide an offensive, defensive or utility bonus.

Check which equipment your stones can be used on. Early gray Manastones, for example, can be applied to eligible gray equipment.

Collect Pets for Additional Bonuses

Defeating monsters in the open world lets you work towards collecting pets. Gather enough of the required collection items to develop them, then use the analysis system to gain additional stats.

These bonuses can include more HP and other passive benefits. The global version has three pet collection levels.

Some pets can also be used as mounts. Collecting them gives you another activity to work on in the open world, although farming pets does not need to become your main priority when starting out.

Check Your Titles and Achievement Rewards

Quests and achievements reward titles with different passive bonuses. These include offensive, defensive and utility options, with titles also varying in rarity.

Check the titles you have unlocked and review the bonuses available to your character.

Visit the Achievements menu regularly too. Claiming completed achievements gives you additional rewards as you progress.

Use Power Shards for More Damage

Power Shards increase your damage while active. You can obtain them through quests and achievements, then use Substance Morph to create stronger versions.

Upgrading Power Shards consumes Enhance Stones, which are also used to improve equipment. Keep that shared material cost in mind when deciding how many shards to upgrade.

Substance Morph also handles materials such as ore and gemstones used to craft weapons, armor and accessories.

Extract Unwanted Equipment

Use the Extract option on equipment you no longer need to recover resources such as Kina and Enhance Stones.

Extracting equipment also adds its appearance to your Closet, allowing you to use the look as a cosmetic after replacing the item.

This includes armor and weapon appearances, so you can keep a look you like while moving on to stronger gear.

There’s plenty to get used to in Aion 2, but these ten tips give you a good starting point. Keep working through your quests, make use of the bonuses you unlock and save your materials for upgrades worth keeping. Building these habits early will help you get more out of your resources as you level up and work towards tougher content.
