Overview

Fulghor, Champion of Nightglow (also known as Darkdrift Knight) is a Night Lord in Elden Ring Nightreign. This boss is a centaur-like beast, wielding a huge spear.

This Night Lord mainly attacks in melee range, but can sometimes invoke golden spears on the ground too.

This Night Lord mainly attacks by jumping around and swinging his spear. Furthermore, they can invoke golden spears from the ground, so players must stay agile and avoid the marked spots.

General Strategy

Nighfarers like Guardian and Raider, who can absorb melee strikes and frontline for the team, will greatly help. Fulghor is highly mobile, so having characters with a high attack range, like Ironeye or Recluse, or with high mobility (like Wylder) will allow attacking more often.

Shielding against Fulghor's spear attacks can sometimes miss if you're very close because he hits from above. Keep a little distance from him, or dodge if you're too close. Shields are a great defensive option in this fight.

Raider is especially great against Fulghor since his attacks have a long windup and hit at a precise time, and you can time Raider's Retaliate skill to absorb all damage and hit back with a powerful blow.

First Phase

This Boss mainly attacks swinging his spear, which can be rolled through. You can safely attack right after dodging.

Fulghor can also jump and do ground slams onto players. You can dodge, jump, or roll away to avoid the hit.

Golden Spears

When Fulghor starts glowing gold and pointing his spear down, it's a signal that he is about to perform his attack.

The boss will slam his spear on the ground and magic spears will burst directly below players, which must be rolled through. Then, golden marks will appear on the ground and explode after a brief delay. Run away from the area to avoid them.

Players can stagger Fulghor out of his channeling animation with heavy-hitting attacks, which will make him perform a weaker version of the attack.

Wind Charges

Fulghor can charge his spear with wind and throw three projectiles from afar.

When you see them coming, roll through them and sprint directly to Fulghor. This will make the remaining projectiles miss while you have a long opening to attack from the sides or behind.

Stampede

Fulghor can perform multi-charge attacks toward players.

He will initially run away from players and then charge at full speed, creating magic bursts around himself. You'll want to sprint in a perpendicular direction to avoid getting hit.

After the third charge, he will stomp the ground and cause explosions in front of him. Look at the ground and you'll see the safe spots where you will not be hit by the burst.

Phase Two

When Fulghor reaches about 50% HP, he will enter Phase Two, growing a new arm and gaining some new moves and combos.

First, he'll leap into the air and slam his arm down, dealing damage in a wide area. Time your roll well or block the attack and retaliate right after.

He keeps his attacks from Phase 1, but can chain new moves with his new arm. These are difficult to dodge and release a damaging mist. You'll want to sprint to his sides and back, or block the whole attack.

Fulghor can also raise his arm into the air and then slam the ground, creating a massive shockwave. Again, shielding is effective, but a well-timed dodge will work too.

Everdark Sovereign Fulghor: New Mechanics and Attacks

Fulghor’s Everdark Sovereign version is even stronger, including a new phase. For this expedition, we recommend not bringing Guardian, as his lack of mobility will often get him killed in Fulghor's new phase. Wylder and Ironeye are good options due to their swift attacks and innate mobility, and Raider is the undisputed best Nightfarer for Everdark Fulghor, as his Retaliate skill is great in this specific fight. Everdark Fulgor deals mostly holy damage, so relics and passives that improve holy resistance are invaluable for this fight.

The fight starts off with Fulghor in phase 2, having access to his corrupted arm. His moveset is the same as the regular version, and he employs precise spear moves, holy attacks, and chaotic, wide-reaching arm slams. During this phase, you can deal lightning damage to knock him down and stagger him out of certain attacks. Keep your distance while he’s swinging his arm around and wait for an opportunity to attack.

Phase 3

At approximately 60% HP, Fulghor will leap into the air, and phase 3 will begin. Ranged characters like the Recluse and Ironeye can safely attack Fulghor during the animation, since there’s no attack afterward.

In phase 3, Fulghor no longer has his corrupted arm and transforms his weapon into a twinblade-bow hybrid. Most of his attacks become telegraphed, heavy-hitting holy moves. He gains several notable attacks:

Arrow Shot

Fulghor will stand on its hind legs and his weapon will glow white before firing a near-instant projectile at a player. This can be dodged with precise timing, but blocking or dashing can be tricky.

Holy Rain of Arrows

Fulghor will point his weapon at the sky and fire arrows that will follow nearby players for a short period. Getting caught in the arrow rain can be fatal, so avoid it at all costs by sprinting away.

Spinning Twinblade Attacks

If Fulghor spins his twinblade around, he'll perform multiple 360-degree swipes toward a player. Dodge into him or run away. You can listen for the holy audio cue to help dodge at the right time and retaliate after.

Twinblade Swipe

When the boss holds his twinblade in a vertical position, he's about to perform an uppercut swipe. Run to the sides or roll into him to safely avoid it and deal some damage after.

Twinblade Combo

When Fulghor holds his twinblade above him, he’s about to unleash a combo attack. He’ll target a player and attack multiple times. Dodging into him and getting onto his back is the safest strategy to avoid damage. This combo can be fatal if you’re caught in his front. Another viable strategy is to just sprint away, but you'll still need to dodge as Fulghor will follow you around.

Ultimate Airborne Shot

Fulghor can leap into the air and then target a player with a holy beam, signaling he’s about to unleash a devastating nova at his location. This can be seen by the thin ray of light emanating from Fulghor’s bow. After a brief delay, he’ll release a near-instant explosion at the location, dealing heavy damage. The safest option to dodge this attack is getting directly underneath him if you have time, otherwise sprinting in a perpendicular direction away from him. Other Nightfarers should get close to Fulghor and attack him after the attack.
