Elden Ring Dexterity Build - Stats, Weapons, Skills & More

Updated on Aug 22, 2026
Aug 22, 2026

Overview

Dexterity builds are some of the most versatile builds in Elden Ring. They have access to a wide range of fast weapons, including Katanas, Curved Swords, Spears, Twinblades, Backhand Blades, and several unique weapons that scale heavily with Dexterity.

Dexterity builds generally focus on speed, mobility, and quickly punishing enemy openings rather than trading hits with slower, heavier weapons. Many Dexterity weapons also work extremely well with status effects such as Blood Loss or Frostbite, while others can be combined with Intelligence, Faith, or Arcane for hybrid builds.

Dexterity is strong throughout the entire game and has excellent options in both the base game and Shadow of the Erdtree. It also slightly reduces spell casting time, making it useful for hybrid caster builds.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Large variety of strong weapons and playstyles.
  • Fast attack animations make it easier to punish short boss openings.
  • Excellent access to multi-hit attacks, Bleed, and other status setups.
  • Strong options from the early game through NG+.
  • Works well as a pure damage stat or as part of hybrid builds.

Cons

  • Many Dexterity weapons deal less stance damage per hit than heavy Strength weapons.
  • Fast weapons often reward aggressive play, which can make stamina management more important.
  • Some of the strongest Dexterity weapons and Ashes of War are obtained later in the game or in Shadow of the Erdtree.
  • Hybrid Dexterity builds can become stat-hungry when investing heavily into Intelligence, Faith, or Arcane as well.

This leveling path is designed for a primarily Dexterity-focused build. Weapons that also require significant Intelligence, Faith, or Arcane investment will need a different stat distribution.

Early in the game, prioritize Vigor alongside Dexterity rather than putting every available level into damage. Around 20 Vigor and the Dexterity required for your chosen weapon is a comfortable target for the first areas of the game.

By around level 50, aim for roughly 30 Vigor while continuing to increase Dexterity. Strength should generally only be increased to meet weapon requirements. Around 18 Strength gives access to many popular Dexterity weapons without investing unnecessary levels into a secondary damage stat.

Around level 100, 40 Vigor and 60 Dexterity provide a strong balance between survivability and damage. From here, continue raising Vigor and Dexterity while adding Endurance or Mind depending on your equipment and how often you use weapon Skills.

At level 150, 60 Vigor and 80 Dexterity are strong endgame targets for a dedicated Dexterity build. Dexterity continues to increase weapon damage beyond 60, but gains become less efficient after 80 for most weapons. Any remaining levels can be invested into Endurance, Mind, or secondary attributes required by your chosen weapon.

Best Early-Game Weapons for Dexterity Builds

Uchigatana

Uchigatana

The Uchigatana is one of the best weapons for starting a Dexterity build and is available immediately when choosing the Samurai starting class. It has a fast Katana moveset, innate Blood Loss buildup, and can change its affinity and Ash of War.

Its starting Skill, Unsheathe, is already extremely powerful and deals excellent damage and stance damage. The Uchigatana can also be given the Keen affinity as your Dexterity increases, allowing it to remain useful throughout the entire game.

Location: Starting weapon for the Samurai, or found inside the Deathtouched Catacombs in Limgrave.

Requirements: Strength - 11 / Dexterity - 15

Bloodhound’s Fang

Bloodhound’s Fang

Bloodhound's Fang is one of the strongest weapons obtainable during the early game. It deals high Physical damage, has innate Blood Loss buildup, and its Unique Skill, Bloodhound's Finesse, combines a powerful attack with an evasive movement and optional follow-up.

Unlike most Somber weapons, Bloodhound's Fang can also be buffed with weapon buffs and Greases. It requires some Strength alongside Dexterity, but can comfortably carry a player through the entire base game.

Location: Obtained by defeating Bloodhound Knight Darriwil at the Forlorn Hound Evergaol in Limgrave.

Requirements: Strength - 18 / Dexterity - 17

These 2 weapons are by far your best options in the early game. Some other great options include the Guardian’s Swordspear, Bandit’s Curved Sword, and Cross-Naginata.

Best Weapons to Build Around

Backhand Blade - Pure Dexterity (DLC)

Backhand Blade

The Backhand Blade is one of the strongest weapons for a dedicated Dexterity build. When given the Keen affinity, it gains excellent Dexterity scaling while retaining access to customizable Ashes of War.

Two-handing the weapon equips a blade in each hand, giving it an extremely fast paired moveset that works particularly well with successive-attack bonuses. Its default Skill, Blind Spot, also allows you to quickly reposition around an enemy while attacking.

Location: Found northeast of the Scorched Ruins in Gravesite Plain shortly after entering Shadow of the Erdtree.

Requirements: Strength - 10 / Dexterity - 13

Rakshasa’s Great Katana - Heavy Dexterity (DLC)

Rakshasa’s Great Katana

Rakshasa's Great Katana is an excellent option for players who want the damage and reach of a heavier weapon without moving away from Dexterity. It has high Dexterity scaling, innate Blood Loss buildup, and the long reach of the Great Katana weapon class.

Its Unique Skill, Weed Cutter, can be repeatedly chained and has strong hyper armor, allowing for an extremely aggressive playstyle. The trade-off is increased damage taken while attacking with the weapon.

Location: Obtained by defeating Rakshasa in the Eastern Nameless Mausoleum.

Requirements: Strength - 12 / Dexterity - 27

Claws of Night - Dexterity/Bleed (DLC)

Claws of Night - Dexterity/Bleed

The Claws of Night combine a fast paired moveset with innate Blood Loss and ranged Heavy Attacks. Their Unique Skill, Scattershot Throw, launches multiple projectiles that can hit the same enemy at close range, dealing extremely high damage and rapidly building Blood Loss.

They are particularly effective against larger bosses where multiple projectiles can connect with the target.

Location: Obtained by defeating Swordhand of Night Anna during Count Ymir's questline.

Requirements: Strength - 8 / Dexterity - 20

Nagakiba - Versatile Dexterity

Nagakiba - Versatile Dexterity

The Nagakiba is one of the most versatile weapons for a Dexterity build. It combines the fast Katana moveset and innate Blood Loss buildup with exceptional range, allowing you to safely punish enemies from considerably farther away than most other Katanas.

Unlike most unique weapons, the Nagakiba can change its Ash of War and affinity. Keen works extremely well for a dedicated Dexterity build, while other affinities allow the weapon to transition into status or hybrid builds later on.

This flexibility also gives it access to powerful Skills such as Unsheathe, Double Slash, Sword Dance, and Piercing Fang. Because of this, the Nagakiba can easily serve as the main weapon for an entire playthrough rather than being restricted to one specific setup.

Location: Obtained through Bloody Finger Hunter Yura's questline or by killing Yura.

Requirements: Strength - 18 / Dexterity - 22

Bolt of Gransax - Dexterity/Lightning

Bolt of Gransax - Dexterity/Lightning

The Bolt of Gransax is one of the best choices for a Dexterity build that wants access to powerful ranged damage. Despite its Lightning damage, the weapon requires no Faith investment and primarily benefits from Dexterity.

Its Unique Skill, Ancient Lightning Spear, charges the weapon with red lightning before throwing a powerful projectile over an extremely long distance. The Skill can be charged for additional damage and works exceptionally well with effects that increase Lightning and Skill damage.

The weapon itself is also a Spear, giving it good reach, Pierce damage, and the ability to benefit from counter-hit damage. This makes Bolt of Gransax useful both at range and during regular melee combat.

Its main disadvantage is that it cannot be obtained after progressing too far through Leyndell, making it one of the game's permanently missable Legendary Armaments.

Location: Found on the giant spear in Leyndell, Royal Capital, after defeating Godfrey, First Elden Lord (Golden Shade). Must be collected before Leyndell changes later in the game.

Requirements: Strength - 20 / Dexterity - 40

Dragon King’s Cragblade - Dexterity/Lightning

Dragon King’s Cragblade - Dexterity/Lightning

The Dragon King's Cragblade is a Heavy Thrusting Sword that combines high Dexterity scaling with Physical and Lightning damage. Its excellent reach and thrusting moveset make it particularly effective at punishing enemies during their attacks.

Its Unique Skill, Thundercloud Form, transforms the player into a red thundercloud before launching forward and crashing into the target. Charging the Skill increases the distance travelled, making it both a powerful attack and an excellent way to close large gaps.

Unlike Bolt of Gransax, the Cragblade focuses more heavily on close-range combat. Heavy Thrusting Swords provide strong reach and counter-hit potential while remaining much faster than most similarly hard-hitting weapons.

This makes the Cragblade an excellent endgame option for players who want a heavier Dexterity weapon without moving into a Strength-focused build.

Location: Obtained by trading the Remembrance of the Dragonlord after defeating Dragonlord Placidusax.

Requirements: Strength - 18 / Dexterity - 37

Hand of Malenia - Katana/Multi-Hit

Hand of Malenia - Katana/Multi-Hit

The Hand of Malenia is a late-game Katana with an extremely high 48 Dexterity requirement, making it specifically suited to dedicated Dexterity builds. It combines long reach with innate Blood Loss buildup and the familiar fast Katana moveset.

Its defining feature is Waterfowl Dance, which launches the player into a series of rapid slashing attacks. When the full sequence connects, it can deal considerable damage and rapidly trigger effects that benefit from successive attacks.

Waterfowl Dance requires a relatively large opening, however, and aggressive enemies can punish the lengthy animation. The Hand of Malenia therefore rewards learning when it is safe to commit to its Skill rather than simply using it whenever FP is available.

It is a strong choice for players who want to build around multi-hit bonuses such as Rotten Winged Sword Insignia and Millicent's Prosthesis.

Location: Obtained by trading the Remembrance of the Rot Goddess after defeating Malenia, Blade of Miquella.

Requirements: Strength - 16 / Dexterity - 48

Guardian’s Swordspear - Pure Dexterity

Guardian’s Swordspear - Pure Dexterity

The Guardian's Swordspear is an excellent choice for a pure Dexterity build due to its extremely strong Dexterity scaling when given the Keen affinity. Despite being classified as a Halberd, it has a unique moveset with much faster diagonal slashes than most other weapons in its class.

This gives the weapon an excellent combination of range, speed, and raw Physical damage. It also remains fully customizable, allowing you to select an Ash of War that complements your preferred playstyle.

The Guardian's Swordspear is particularly attractive for players who want a pure Physical Dexterity build without relying on Blood Loss or elemental damage.

Location: Dropped by Erdtree Guardians found around Minor Erdtrees throughout the Lands Between.

Requirements: Strength - 17 / Dexterity - 16

Godskin Peeler - Twinblade

Godskin Peeler - Twinblade

The Godskin Peeler is an excellent Twinblade for Dexterity builds and becomes particularly effective when given the Keen affinity. Its rapid moveset allows it to deal repeated hits in a very short amount of time, making it a natural choice for successive-attack setups.

Its running Heavy Attack is especially notable, performing multiple rapid strikes that can quickly trigger multi-hit effects. Twinblades are also extremely effective when powerstanced, providing jumping attacks that strike several times in a single animation.

Because the Godskin Peeler can change its affinity and Ash of War, it can be built as a straightforward pure Dexterity weapon or adapted for status-focused setups.

This flexibility makes it an excellent foundation for builds centered around rapid attacks rather than large individual hits.

Location: Dropped by the Godskin Apostle at Windmill Village in Altus Plateau.

Requirements: Strength - 17 / Dexterity - 22

Falx - Dexterity/Bleed (DLC)

Falx - Dexterity/Bleed

The Falx is a paired Curved Sword introduced in Shadow of the Erdtree that combines excellent Dexterity scaling with innate Blood Loss buildup. Two-handing the weapon automatically equips both swords, allowing you to access its paired moveset without obtaining a second copy.

Its Unique Skill, Revenger's Blade, begins with a forward dash before transitioning into a rapid series of slashes. Holding the input extends the attack, making it extremely effective at triggering Blood Loss and successive-attack bonuses when a large enough opening is available.

The combination of fast Curved Sword attacks, Bleed, and an aggressive gap-closing Skill makes Falx an excellent alternative to the Backhand Blade for players who want a more status-focused DEX build.

Location: Obtained from Hornsent during his Shadow of the Erdtree questline, with the exact acquisition depending on your choices during the quest.

Requirements: Strength - 12 / Dexterity - 15

Milady - Versatile Light Greatsword (DLC)

Milady - Versatile Light Greatsword

Milady is a Light Greatsword introduced in Shadow of the Erdtree that combines the reach of a larger sword with an unusually fast and fluid moveset. Its Light and Heavy Attacks naturally transition into each other, giving the weapon excellent combo potential.

When given the Keen affinity, Milady becomes an excellent dedicated Dexterity weapon while retaining the ability to change its Ash of War. Its signature option, Wing Stance, provides access to either a rapid series of slashes or a powerful leaping thrust.

Its flexibility is one of its greatest strengths. Milady can support a straightforward Physical DEX build, elemental affinities, status setups, or different Ashes of War without forcing the player into a completely different weapon.

Location: Found in a chest in Castle Ensis shortly after entering the area.

Requirements: Strength - 12 / Dexterity - 15

Honorable Mentions

These weapons didn't quite make our main recommendations, but are still excellent options for Dexterity builds and can easily be worth building around depending on your preferred playstyle.

  • Sword of Night — A pure Dexterity Katana with innate Blood Loss and a unique charged Skill, Witching Hour Slash. Both its Physical and Magic damage scale with Dexterity, making it particularly interesting for pure DEX builds.
  • Dancing Blade of Ranah — A paired Curved Sword that scales purely with Dexterity and excels at extremely fast successive attacks. Unending Dance can continuously attack while you have stamina, and its damage can be further increased with the Dancer's Set.
  • Great Katana — A highly customizable alternative to Rakshasa's Great Katana. It has innate Blood Loss, favors Dexterity, and can change its affinity and Ash of War, making it an excellent option if you want the Great Katana moveset without being locked into Weed Cutter.
  • Rivers of Blood — No longer the overwhelmingly dominant weapon it once was, but Corpse Piler, innate Blood Loss, and its DEX/ARC scaling still make it a strong option for players willing to invest in Arcane alongside Dexterity.
  • Bloodhound's Fang — Despite already being one of our early-game recommendations, it deserves another mention because it remains exceptionally strong throughout the entire game. Its high damage, Blood Loss, and Bloodhound's Finesse make it completely viable as an endgame weapon.
  • Bandit's Curved Sword — Particularly notable when powerstancing two of them. Their multi-hit jumping attacks make them excellent for successive-attack and status setups, although farming two copies makes the setup less convenient than our main recommendations.

Ashes of War

Dexterity builds have access to some of the strongest and most versatile Ashes of War in Elden Ring. Keen is generally the preferred affinity for a pure Dexterity build, although other affinities can be useful depending on the weapon and build. Ashes of War can also use other affinities once the appropriate Whetblades have been obtained.

Blind Spot

Blind Spot is one of the best Ashes of War for Backhand Blades and an excellent choice for aggressive Dexterity builds. It quickly moves you around the side of an enemy before attacking, combining repositioning and damage into a single action.

The direction can be controlled with your movement input, making it particularly useful against aggressive enemies and bosses. It naturally provides the Keen affinity, making it a perfect match for pure DEX.

Usable on: Backhand Blades

Affinity: Keen

Location: Comes equipped on the Backhand Blade found northeast of the Scorched Ruins in Gravesite Plain.

Sword Dance

Sword Dance quickly closes the distance before performing two spinning attacks, with an optional follow-up downward slash. Its combination of mobility, multiple hits, good damage, and low FP cost makes it one of the most universally useful Ashes of War for Dexterity weapons.

It works particularly well on weapons with good reach, allowing the initial forward movement to cover a surprising amount of distance.

Usable on: Compatible Swords, Axes, and Polearms

Affinity: Keen

Location: Dropped by a Teardrop Scarab near the Minor Erdtree in southwest Liurnia.

Unsheathe

Unsheathe remains one of the best options for Dexterity Katana builds despite being available extremely early. Entering the stance allows you to follow up with either a fast horizontal slash or a more powerful vertical attack.

The Heavy follow-up deals particularly good damage and stance damage, giving fast DEX builds a reliable way of staggering bosses. Because the Uchigatana starts with Unsheathe, Samurai players can use it from the beginning of the game.

Usable on: Katanas

Affinity: Keen

Location: Dropped by a Teardrop Scarab southeast of Agheel Lake North in Limgrave.

Piercing Fang

Piercing Fang performs a powerful forward thrust with excellent reach. The attack completely bypasses an enemy's guard and deals six times the weapon's base stance damage, making it particularly effective for breaking the stance of bosses and tougher enemies.

It is an excellent choice for weapons such as the Nagakiba, where the weapon's already impressive range combines with Piercing Fang's forward movement.

Usable on: Compatible weapons capable of thrusting

Affinity: Keen

Location: Comes equipped on Yura's Nagakiba.

Double Slash

Double Slash starts with two rapid slashes and can be extended with additional inputs into a longer sequence of attacks. Its fast multi-hit nature makes it particularly effective on Dexterity weapons and works well with effects that reward successive attacks.

It's also a good option for weapons with innate Blood Loss, since the rapid sequence can help build status quickly without requiring the build itself to be Arcane-focused.

Usable on: Compatible Swords and Polearms capable of slashing

Affinity: Keen

Location: Dropped by a Teardrop Scarab in Sellia, Town of Sorcery.

Lightning Slash

Lightning Slash calls down lightning before performing a slash and temporarily coats the weapon in Lightning. It is especially appropriate for Dexterity because Lightning affinity favors Dexterity, giving pure DEX characters an elemental alternative to Keen.

This makes it useful against enemies where Lightning damage performs particularly well while still fitting naturally into a Dexterity build.

Usable on: Compatible Swords, Axes, and Hammers

Affinity: Lightning

Location: Dropped by a Teardrop Scarab in Leyndell, Royal Capital.

Beast's Roar

Beast's Roar gives melee Dexterity builds a cheap ranged attack by launching a projectile directly ahead. Unlike many elemental Skills, its projectile benefits strongly from Dexterity when used with an appropriate DEX setup.

It's particularly useful when fighting enemies that are difficult or dangerous to approach, giving a normally close-range build a reusable ranged punish without requiring Intelligence or Faith investment.

Usable on: Most melee armaments

Affinity: Keen

Location: Rewarded by Gurranq after giving him four Deathroot.

Raptor of the Mists

Raptor of the Mists is a defensive Ash of War that provides a completely different option from the damage-focused choices above. When an enemy attack connects during its activation, you avoid the attack and launch upward, allowing you to immediately transition into a jumping attack.

This is especially useful for aggressive melee builds and weapons with powerful jumping attacks, essentially turning an enemy attack into an opportunity to counterattack.

Usable on: Most melee armaments

Affinity: Keen

Location: Obtained during Bloody Finger Hunter Yura's questline after helping him defeat Bloody Finger Ravenmount Assassin.

Best Armor for Dexterity Builds

Unlike weapons, armor doesn't normally become stronger based on your Dexterity. Your best armor choice instead depends on your weapon, Equip Load, desired Poise, and whether your build can benefit from a special armor effect.

For most Dexterity builds, prioritize staying at Medium Load, then choose armor that provides enough protection and Poise for your playstyle. Some armor pieces can also directly increase your damage and are worth building around.

Rakshasa Set — Best Overall Offensive Option

Rakshasa Set

The Rakshasa Set is one of the strongest general offensive choices for an endgame Dexterity build. Each piece increases all damage dealt by 2%, allowing the complete set to provide an 8% damage increase.

Unlike many specialized armor bonuses, this works with virtually every type of damage. This makes it excellent for weapons such as the Backhand Blade, Rakshasa's Great Katana, Nagakiba, or other damage-focused DEX setups.

The trade-off is defense: each piece effectively sacrifices some Damage Negation in exchange for its offensive bonus. You also don't need to wear the entire set; individual pieces can be mixed with other armor while retaining their 2% bonuses.

Location: The complete set drops from Rakshasa in the Eastern Nameless Mausoleum in Shadow of the Erdtree.

Raptor's Black Feathers — Best for Jump Attacks

Raptor's Black Feathers

Raptor's Black Feathers is an excellent chest piece for Dexterity builds centered around jump attacks. It increases melee Jump Attack damage by 10% and stacks multiplicatively with the Claw Talisman.

This is particularly powerful when powerstancing weapons such as Curved Swords or Twinblades, whose jumping attacks can hit multiple times.

Because only the chest piece provides the bonus, the rest of your armor can be selected based on Poise, defense, or Equip Load.

Location: Found inside Sage's Cave in Altus Plateau behind an illusory wall

Gravebird's Blackquill Armor — DLC Jump Attack Alternative

Gravebird's Blackquill Armor

The Gravebird's Blackquill Armor is essentially the Shadow of the Erdtree alternative to Raptor's Black Feathers. It also increases melee Jump Attack damage by 10%, while offering somewhat different defensive stats.

It cannot be combined with Raptor's Black Feathers since both occupy the chest slot, but either can be combined with the Claw Talisman for a total multiplicative increase of roughly 27% to jump attacks.

This makes it an excellent late-game option for the same powerstanced Curved Sword, Twinblade, and other jump-attack DEX builds.

Location: Found on a corpse near the Temple Town Ruins in Rauh Base.

White Mask — Best for Bleed Builds

White Mask

When Blood Loss occurs nearby, the White Mask temporarily increases your Attack Power. This makes it especially valuable for fast DEX weapons that can repeatedly proc Bleed.

It works particularly well with Katanas, Claws, Curved Swords, and other weapons with innate or added Blood Loss. For an optimized Bleed setup, you can also combine the White Mask with three pieces of the Rakshasa Set to stack its conditional Bleed bonus with Rakshasa's general damage bonuses.

Location: Dropped by one of the Nameless White Mask invaders in Mohgwyn Palace. Make sure to obtain it before defeating Mohg, as the invasions stop afterward.

High-Poise Mixed Armor — Best Defensive Option

For Dexterity builds that don't benefit from a specific armor effect, there is no need to wear a complete matching set. Instead, mixing armor pieces to reach your desired Poise while remaining at Medium Load is often the best option.

Heavier chest and leg pieces can provide considerably more Poise and Damage Negation while lighter gloves or helmets help keep your Equip Load under control.

This is especially useful for aggressive weapons such as the Backhand Blade, Milady, Nagakiba, or Guardian's Swordspear, where getting interrupted during an attack can be costly.

Your exact combination depends on your Endurance and weapon weight, so there isn't one universally optimal armor combination.

Extra info: Dex-boosting gear

Dexterity-boosting headgear can also help meet weapon requirements or increase damage, particularly earlier in a playthrough. Options include the Okina Mask (+3 DEX) and several Shadow of the Erdtree headpieces that increase Dexterity alongside other attributes. These generally come with a drawback or significant weight, so they aren't automatically better than a normal helmet.

Best Talismans for Dexterity Builds

There is no single best Talisman setup for every Dexterity build. Fast multi-hit weapons, Lightning weapons, Bleed setups, and Skill-focused builds all benefit from different bonuses. Choose Talismans based on your weapon and playstyle rather than Dexterity alone.

Shard of Alexander — Best for Weapon Skills

Shard of Alexander

The Shard of Alexander increases the damage of weapon Skills by 15%, making it one of the best general offensive Talismans for builds that frequently use their weapon's Skill.

This is particularly powerful with weapons such as Bolt of Gransax, Dragon King's Cragblade, Rakshasa's Great Katana, Claws of Night, and Hand of Malenia, where the Unique Skill is a major part of the weapon's damage output.

Location: Obtained at the end of Iron Fist Alexander's questline in Crumbling Farum Azula.

Rotten Winged Sword Insignia — Best for Multi-Hit Builds

Rotten Winged Sword Insignia

The Rotten Winged Sword Insignia increases Attack Power with successive attacks. Its bonus builds through multiple tiers as you continue attacking, making it an excellent match for the fast attack speed of many Dexterity weapons.

It works particularly well with Backhand Blades, Twinblades, Claws, Curved Swords, Falx, and Hand of Malenia.

Location: Rewarded near the end of Millicent's questline after choosing to assist her.

Millicent's Prosthesis — Multi-Hit + Dexterity

Millicent's Prosthesis

Millicent's Prosthesis increases Dexterity by 5 while also increasing Attack Power with successive attacks.

Its maximum successive-attack bonus is lower than Rotten Winged Sword Insignia, but the additional Dexterity makes it especially useful before reaching higher DEX levels. The two Talismans can also be equipped together, allowing optimized multi-hit builds to stack their effects.

Location: Obtained during Millicent's questline by choosing the appropriate path or killing Millicent after progressing her quest sufficiently.

Importantly, you normally cannot obtain both Millicent's Prosthesis and Rotten Winged Sword Insignia in the same playthrough without NG+ or trading.

Two-Handed Sword Talisman — Best for Two-Handed Weapons

Two-Handed Sword Talisman

The Two-Handed Sword Talisman increases the damage of attacks made while holding a weapon with both hands by 15%. Despite its name, it works with many weapon types rather than only Swords.

This makes it excellent for two-handed DEX weapons such as Rakshasa's Great Katana, Nagakiba, Guardian's Swordspear, Milady, and Great Katana.

The bonus doesn't apply to weapon Skills, so Skill-heavy setups may get more value from Shard of Alexander.

Location: Found inside a chest in the Temple Town Ruins in Shadow of the Erdtree.

Spear Talisman — Best for Pierce/Counter Builds

Spear Talisman

The Spear Talisman increases the damage of Pierce counterattacks by 15%. Despite its name, the effect isn't restricted to Spears; any attack dealing Pierce damage can benefit when it hits an enemy during their own attack animation.

This makes it particularly useful for weapons such as Dragon King's Cragblade, as well as other DEX weapons with strong thrusting attacks.

Its usefulness depends heavily on the weapon's moveset, so it isn't a universal Dexterity recommendation.

Location: Found in a chest in Lakeside Crystal Cave in Liurnia of the Lakes.

Lightning Scorpion Charm — Best for Lightning DEX Builds

Lightning Scorpion Charm

The Lightning Scorpion Charm increases Lightning damage by 12% in PvE, but also increases the Physical damage you take by 10%. This makes it an excellent offensive option for Lightning-focused Dexterity builds.

It is particularly strong with Bolt of Gransax, Dragon King's Cragblade, Lightning-infused weapons, and Lightning-based Ashes of War.

The defensive penalty means it isn't always worth using, especially when survivability is more important than maximizing damage.

Location: Found in the Wyndham Catacombs in Altus Plateau.

Lord of Blood's Exultation — Best for Bleed Builds

Lord of Blood's Exultation

The Lord of Blood's Exultation increases Attack Power by 20% for 20 seconds whenever Blood Loss occurs nearby.

Many strong Dexterity weapons naturally inflict Blood Loss, including Nagakiba, Claws of Night, Falx, Rakshasa's Great Katana, and several Katanas, making the effect relatively easy to trigger.

It also synergizes extremely well with the White Mask, allowing dedicated Bleed builds to stack both damage bonuses after triggering Blood Loss.

Location: Dropped by Esgar, Priest of Blood in the Leyndell Catacombs.

Claw Talisman — Best for Jump Attacks

Claw Talisman

The Claw Talisman increases Jump Attack damage by 15%, making it an excellent option for Dexterity builds centered around powerstanced Curved Swords, Twinblades, or other weapons with strong jumping attacks.

It becomes particularly powerful when combined with Raptor's Black Feathers or Gravebird's Blackquill Armor, which further increase jumping attack damage.

Location: Found on a tower in Stormveil Castle.

Honorable Mentions

Other useful options include the

  • Green Turtle Talisman or Two-Headed Turtle Talisman for faster Stamina recovery
  • Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman for additional Physical defense
  • Carian Filigreed Crest for Skill-heavy builds that need better FP efficiency.
  • Radagon's Soreseal can be useful early in the game by providing +5 Vigor, Endurance, Strength, and Dexterity, but its increased damage taken makes it significantly less attractive at higher levels.

Dexterity Playstyle Tips

Take Advantage of Your Speed

Dexterity weapons are generally faster than heavier Strength-focused weapons, allowing you to take advantage of smaller openings. Rather than committing to long attack sequences, land one or two attacks when an opportunity appears and be ready to dodge the next attack.

Fast recovery times also make many Dexterity weapons excellent for maintaining pressure against aggressive bosses.

Don't Get Greedy With Multi-Hit Weapons

Many Dexterity weapons reward successive attacks, especially when using effects such as the Rotten Winged Sword Insignia. However, this doesn't mean you should always finish an entire attack chain.

Against bosses, surviving and maintaining pressure is more important than forcing one additional attack and getting hit in return. Learn when you can safely extend your combo and when you should disengage.

Use Status Effects to Your Advantage

Dexterity has access to many fast weapons that are excellent at applying Blood Loss, Frostbite, and other status effects. Katanas, Claws, Twinblades, and several Curved Swords can build status extremely quickly due to their fast or multi-hit movesets.

Keep in mind that status buildup depends on the weapon and affinity being used. Investing in Dexterity alone does not automatically increase your Blood Loss buildup.

Make Use of Pierce Counter Damage

Several excellent Dexterity weapons have thrusting attacks that deal Pierce damage. Hitting an enemy with Pierce damage while they are performing certain attacks can deal additional counter damage.

Weapons such as Spears and Heavy Thrusting Swords can take particularly good advantage of this, and the effect can be further increased with the Spear Talisman.

Learn Your Weapon Skill

Many of the best Dexterity weapons derive a significant portion of their strength from their Skill. Blind Spot, Unsheathe, Ancient Lightning Spear, Weed Cutter, Thundercloud Form, and Scattershot Throw all serve very different purposes.

Don't treat Skills as something you simply spam whenever you have FP. Learning which boss openings are long enough for your Skill is an important part of getting the most out of your weapon.

Keep an Eye on Your Stamina

Fast attacks make it easy to burn through your entire Stamina bar without realizing it. Always leave enough Stamina available to dodge or reposition after attacking.

This becomes especially important with paired weapons and multi-hit setups, where long attack chains can consume Stamina extremely quickly.

Stay at Medium Equip Load

Unless you're intentionally building around Light Load, Medium Load is the safest general target. Heavy Load significantly worsens your dodge roll, which works against the mobile playstyle most Dexterity builds benefit from.

Don't sacrifice your roll just to equip heavier armor. Increase Endurance or use lighter armor combinations instead.

Adapt Your Build to the Boss

One of Dexterity's biggest strengths is its flexibility. You don't need to use the same setup for every encounter.

If a boss is resistant or immune to Blood Loss, switch away from a Bleed-focused setup. Against an enemy weak to Lightning, a Lightning weapon or affinity can be extremely effective. Against enemies that leave very small openings, faster weapons may outperform slower options even if their individual attacks deal less damage.

Dexterity builds excel when you adapt your speed, range, damage type, and aggression to the enemy you're fighting.
