Besides reducing incoming damage, armor also provides Resistance against different status effects. Higher Resistance means it takes more buildup before that status effect is triggered.
- Immunity: Increases resistance to Poison and Scarlet Rot.
- Robustness: Increases resistance to Blood Loss and Frostbite.
- Focus: Increases resistance to Sleep and Madness.
- Vitality: Increases resistance to Death Blight.
- Poise: Determines how resistant you are to being staggered by enemy attacks. Higher Poise allows you to continue performing certain actions after taking hits that would interrupt a character with lower Poise.
Damage Negation works differently from Resistance. Instead of protecting against status buildup, it reduces the damage you take from specific damage types:
- Physical: Standard Physical damage.
- VS Strike: Physical damage from blunt attacks such as Hammers.
- VS Slash: Physical damage from slashing attacks, such as those from Swords.
- VS Pierce: Physical damage from thrusting attacks such as Spears.
- Magic: Reduces Magic damage.
- Fire: Reduces Fire damage.
- Lightning: Reduces Lightning damage.
- Holy: Reduces Holy damage.
Weight represents how much the armor contributes to your total Equip Load. Equipping heavier armor generally provides better protection and Poise, but exceeding certain Equip Load thresholds slows your dodge roll.
