Overview

Our Vakron Sky Island expedition guide covers the route and all three boss encounters on Normal difficulty in Aion 2. Learn how to manage the island’s root debuff, cross the wind-current gaps and handle the mechanics that can wipe your party.

For recommended skills, Stigmas and rotations before entering, explore our Aion 2 class builds.

A huge thank you to NoBS Game Guides for sharing his Vakron Sky Island encounter tips!

Manage the Root Debuff and Activate the Kibelisk

Keep your debuffs somewhere easy to see. Our Aion 2 HUD preset guide explains how to adjust and save your interface layout.

While travelling through the expedition, you passively gain stacks of a debuff. At three stacks, you become rooted and need a teammate to attack you to break free.

Pass through Fog Spiritstones whenever you encounter them to reset your stacks before the root triggers. If a teammate is already trapped, help release them before continuing.

Before starting the first boss, activate the nearby Kibelisk. This gives you a closer revival point if you die and need to return to the fight.

First Boss: Tiere

Avoid the Alternating Slams and Swipes

Watch Tiere’s hands. The boss raises one hand and strikes half of the arena, then uses the other hand to hit the opposite half. Avoid the first strike and reposition for the second.

Two swipe attacks follow. Keep the boss facing away from the rest of your party so these attacks do not sweep through your teammates.

Destroy the Flower and Group the Puddles

When Tiere calls out “Don’t touch those flowers,” a flower appears that your party needs to destroy.

After breaking it, stack together inside the safe zone. Every party member is targeted by attacks that leave persistent AoE puddles on the ground.

Move clockwise as a group as the puddles appear, keeping them close together to preserve space within the safe zone. Spreading out scatters the puddles across the ground your party needs to survive.

If you die, revive at the nearby Kibelisk and run back into the arena. You can rejoin the fight without spending a revival crystal.

Follow the Wind-Current Route to Thamon

After defeating Tiere, jump across to the other side and turn right. Break the wall and take the wind current.

For the next wind-current crossing:

  1. Enter the current and let it launch your character.
  2. Release your directional inputs once you are launched.
  3. Press Space to open your wings as soon as it becomes available.

Holding W or using a dodge in midair during these crossings can send your character downwards and cause you to miss the landing. Let the launch carry you and focus on opening your wings at the right moment.

Continue upwards and straight ahead until you reach the enemy marked with a yellow arrow. Defeat that marked enemy to open the door; you do not need to clear every nearby monster for this step.

Jump across the next gap using the same technique, releasing your movement input during the crossing.

For help setting up comfortable flight controls, check our Aion 2 settings guide.

Second Boss: Thamon

Jump the Arena Attack and Free Petrified Allies

Avoid Thamon’s regular AoEs. When an attack indicator covers the entire arena, jump over the attack.

His grab and follow-up slam can deal lethal damage, depending on your gear. Getting hit by the small circular AoE petrifies you, leaving you vulnerable to the slam.

If a teammate is petrified, attack them to break them free before the slam lands.

Stop the Damage Type That Heals Thamon

Watch for Thamon to glow red or purple:

  • Red: Physical attacks heal him. Stop using physical attacks until the effect ends.
  • Purple: Magical attacks heal him. Stop using magical attacks until the effect ends.

Pause your attacks if their damage type matches the healing phase, then resume when the coloured effect disappears.

Collect the Four Elements

After defeating Thamon, open the door and enter the next area. You can fly here to collect four elements.

Place each element at its corresponding altar to open the route to the final boss.

Final Boss: Vakron

Break Roots and Watch the Hand Slams

Vakron targets a player with an AoE that roots them. Avoid getting caught in the attack yourself, then attack the trapped teammate to release them.

He also repeats the first boss’s alternating hand strikes, hitting one half of the arena and then the other. These strikes have no ground indicator, so watch his animation and move away from the side about to be hit.

Time Your Jumps with the Cast Bar

When Vakron begins the sequence of attacks covering the whole arena, move clockwise and jump over each of the three waves.

Keep his cast bar in view after those waves. Make one more jump just before the cast finishes to avoid the final lethal arena-wide attack.

Break the Red Glowing Rock

Vakron pulls the party into the middle and surrounds everyone with rocks.

Find the red glowing rock, focus your attacks on it and break it. Move through the opening immediately to escape the lethal attack.

Vakron repeats his mechanics after this sequence. Keep freeing trapped teammates, timing your jumps and escaping the rock enclosure until he is defeated.
