Overview

Hey everybody. Today we're going over my Swiss Army Knife (SAK) Amon build. As it's name may suggest, this spec is intended to be your average, run of the mill Amon build capable of handling whatever content the game throws at you (for now at least) with as much gear flexibility as the game can allow on UVH5 difficulty. But don't let this description fool you, this build is capable of some of the fastest boss TTKs I've had on any Amon build I've tested so far, so do not underestimate what this is capable off.

This spec heavily uses the calamity tree to stack bonuses from Branch 3's Dragon's Breath and Electrical Fire as well as Branch 1 bonuses like Berserk and There Is Only Red with support from My Touch Is Death to provide a high level of consistent damage buffing during bossing situations too.

But with all that said and done, let's get cracking.

Strengths And Weaknesses

  • incredibly flexible with gear choice. Can use any enhancement, shield, COM (within reason)
  • One of the fastest Times To Kill for Vault bosses on an Amon build
  • Can swap augments too depending on playstyle
  • Can be outperformed from an ordnance spam perspective by a more purpose built ordnance spec

The Non-Negotiables

Trunk Skills

Calamity Tree:

What Burns Within - fairly self explanatory. Since we're going to spamming Dragon's Breath, boosting the damage output of this skill through incendiary damage bonuses is going to pay dividends

Wield the Storm - boost status damage (our DoTs) that we're gonna be spam inflicting onto the enemy

Gut Punch - since we're going to be making good use of the Slippy, especially when killing bosses, being able to boost our damage through the extra damage buff from Gut Punch is going to synergise very well with our burst damage capability. We're also going to be spawning a forgedrone from Tempered Pyre that will be doing melee damage to enemies on the field too, proccing weakness on them as well which continues the debuff loop.

Bullet Storm - this is an all purpose build, and as such, you can swap out your weapons and enhancements to fuel a DoT style mobbing build as well. Since you'll be applying status effects as a result of this simple gear swap, you can maintain a consistent gun damage bonus from this skill.

The Best Defense - since we're using the Slippy AND Tempered Pyre to be dealing melee damage, we can more or less consistently have a free overshield on us at all times to keep our surivivability up.

Branch 1

Berserk - Source of additional elemental damage

There Is Only Red - further boosts the damage output of Berserk by scaling our cryo damage up exponentially

My Touch Is Death - Once again, the combination of Tempered Pyre AND Slippy means we can maintain our stacks of kills skills i.e. There Is Only Red very consistently, and without much additional effort. Also guarantees a damage bonus during boss fights as well if trash mobs arent spawning as frequently as you would like.

Branch 3

Dragon's Breath - the star of the show and how we apply some big fire DoTs to enemies. This skill adds a huge damage bonus to our first shot following an ordnance activation.

Fists of Stone - helps to cycle AS faster again. Spamming Stormcutter and hitting a minimum of 4 enemies with it will immediately give us Onslaughter again.

Electrical Fire - Since the base element of the maliwan shotun we're using is shock, this will also help us apply fire to the enemy as well. If you're using Linebacker shotgun, we can apply shock dots conversely.

Cybernetics

Gathering Storm - fairly obvious skill to pick up here. Amons damage sauce draws a lot from elemental damage, so we boost this stat where we can.

Tempered Pyre - as mentioned earlier, Tempered Pyre spawns a forgedrone that does melee damage, meaning we can get free procs of Gut Punch and The Best Defense without having to do anything ourselves.

Destruction Engine - more detonation damage means more AoE mob clearing capability (and also to finish off any bosses with max prime stacks using Stormcutter - if they're still alive after bursting them with your choice of ordnance/weapon)

Augment + Capstone:

This spec can give you the option to use whatever augment you have access to in the Cybernetics and Calamity tree. However the most optimal configurations would be either:

Optimal option 1

Force of Nature augment to prime enemies in anticipation for their eventual detonation through death or Stormcutter application. These detonations deal massive damage to the enemy and those around them, which furthers the fuel for this mass mobbing build.

Optimal option 2

Axe and Stone + the Viking class mod to further fuel an ordnance spamming build through leveraging cryo axe detonations. You also get the added bonus of getting increase movement speed through incendiary axe detonations as well if that's your preferred poison as well. Lots of choice!

Equipment

Weapons
Repkit & Ordnance
Utilities

Before we tackle this section about optimal equipment, I want to reinforce the fact that this build is an All Purpose Amon build - meaning that you can use virtually any gear that can hold its own in UVH5 difficulty. Obviously some gear are better than others, and that's what im going to mention very shortly, but don't feel like you cant run this build just because you dont have these specific weapons.

So, let's get talking.

Weapons

For the guns, the primary bossing weapon I suggest is the Oscar Mike Assault Rifle with the space laser underbarrel. This is capable of massive burst damage output and gains benefits from skills like Dragon's Breath, There Is Only Red + amp bonuses from the Triple Bypass repkit which ideally would have the 200% amp roll on it.

The next gun I would suggest - and this is also suggested in my Hellshot Amon build, is a purple Maliwan shotgun with a high DoT value. Ideally this should be in shock so you can leverage Electrical Fire to apply additional elemental damage to the enemy and cut through their health.

I also suggest the Wombo Combo as an additional weapon to your arsenal. It's fairly straightforward to farm and it's special effect of firing rockets rolls with the weapon by default so you aren't at the mercy of part variation for you to get a good one. The Wombo Combo can make light work of trash mobbing which makes it very much a "plug and play" type gun for this build.

As I said before, you can run any weapon that you enjoy with this setup, so let your creativity fly. I've been having fun using the Goalkeeper AR, Fisheye sniper and Linebacker shotgun just to name a few. But I'd be keen to hear what guns you guys end up using as well so share your thoughts with me in my discord

Repkit

We use the Triple Bypass with the 200% amp roll and consistently spam this. Due to the effect of the triple bypass, we can maintain uptime for our Amp Shots more often than not.

Shield

Depending on preference you can use whatever you prefer. However for an optimal bossing choice, the Watts 4 Dinner synergises incredibly well with Oscar Mike and skills like The Best Defense (and combining it with Slippy) to get a free further damage boost for the space laser to do chunky boss damage.

Other suitable shield alternatives are the Firewerks and Super Soldier. However as I said, whatever you feel comfortable with and enjoy using, feel free to use that.

Class Mods

Once again, we have choice. For the sake of brevity, I'm going to focus on whats the MOST optimal option - and that is the Furnace COM with as many points as possible into Dragon's Breath. This combination will help to significantly boost the damage output for our bossing capabilities.

Other options can also be the Forge Master. As this build can make use of Force of Nature for a mobbing focus, being able to spam Stormcutter can help you maintain Onslaughter uptime a bit more consistently.

If you choose to use the Axe and Stone augment as a replacement for Force of Nature - you can also make use of the Crucible COM to give you a few more axes to throw around for further enemy priming + ordnance/AS cooldown depending on which elemental axe combinations you choose to use.

A 4th option is the Cyborg Class Mod, an epic rarity COM for Amon that can roll with points in Endless Bombardment which can help sustain an ordnance spam build relatively well, especially if you use a heavy ordnance like the Bottled Lightning which you can see at some points in the background gameplay. As an additional supplement for a pseudo-ordnance spamming build using the Cyborg COM, equipping the Super Soldier shield can pad out your ammo regeneration capabilities a bit as well.

The overall point im trying to make here is that by swapping out the class mods, you can change up your playstyle massively without even having to respec.

Firmware

Repkit & Ordnance
Repkit FirmwareHigh Caliber
Ordnance FirmwareHigh Caliber
Utilities
Class Mod FirmwareDeadeye
Shield FirmwareDeadeye
Enhancement FirmwareDeadeye

From a firmware perspective, we aren't revolutionising the wheel here. High Caliber and Deadeye are being picked here for the bonuses to projectile speed, crit damage and gun damage. All of these stats slot in nicely for the overall damage formula for Amon.

Specialization

Specialization 1Full Spectrum Arsenal
Specialization 2Overkill
Specialization 3Bullet Train
Specialization 4I Am A Gun

For specialisations, we start with Bullet Train, which can give us a nice free damage boost just by running laps as we fire off ordnances and primary weapons alike.

Full Spectrum Arsenal is next and this one is picked so we can prop up our ordnance damage further through gun damage bonuses which we'll be stacking through enhancements, skills and passive stat rolls on our gear.

I Am A Gun is yet another specialisation we pick to ramp up our damage. Keep in mind once again that Dragon's Breath deals skill damage so this boosts our damage output even further.

The final specialisation we have is Overkill. Don't think this needs to be explained much - explosions = good AoE clearing for clustered enemies. fire one shot and kill many.

Gameplay

Amp with bypass, throw Slippy at enemies to proc There Is Only Red and recharge Forgeskill through Fists of Stone. Stay in Onslaughter as much as you can (or whatever your preferred Augment is). Kill enemies.

The gameplay loop for this build is incredibly straightforward. Just have fun ;)

Enjoy the build y'all. See you in the next one!
