Build Overview

BLOODWIRE Minion Vex!

True UVH7 Sub & Thol Platinum (Bloodwire)

True UVH7 Sub & Thol Platinum (No-U)

Story Pack 1 is REQUIRED for this build.

PC Save File

This is a Vex minion build focused on the Configuration Class Mod and its Blood Rift Remnant Minions. Through the usage of powerful base damages, it scales the Blood Rift Remnants to great lengths, enabling a lot of damage.

You can play exclusively minion-only, or introduce your preferred weapons into the loop. Read the weapons section to find out which 'stat stick' suits you best.

No glitches at all are being used on this build. Understand the Class Mod here.

Bloodwire Phase PhamiliarDead Ringer

The main setup, 100% centered around Blood Rift Minion usage through Vex's Configuration Class Mod and the Deadwire skill. You can quite literally watch them do all the work, if you want.

No U Dead Ringer

This variant is a vast gameplay change from Bloodwire. It mixes Melee + Gun + Skill + Minion with a lot of player involvement. Rewards high actions per minute and delivering as much damage as possible within the window of Groundbreaker.

Strengths And Weaknesses

  • Actual Minion Build
  • Good damage scaling due to almost full gun formula access
  • Full Minion Variant and Hybrid 'Random BS Go' Variant
  • Gear-dependent
  • Requires Story Pack 1

Build Variants

Phase Phamiliar Bloodwire, with a swap to Dead Ringer available for bosses that demand better Mortal Terror proc rates.

  • Dead Ringer can also be used as a main Action Skill if you prefer, however it's arguably not as interesting to play around in this skill tree setup. Still, the gameplay section covers how you can play around it as a main choice.Consider checking the No U variant if you want a lot more Dead Ringer focus.

Equipment

WEAPONS

Blood Rift Stat Sticks

Sunspot

STRONGEST STAT STICK. With the Energy Burst Underbarrel and Torgue (Impact Mag), this can reach 98208 Base Damage at level 60, but it also benefits from the Sunspot special effect for an extra 200% On-Shot formula damage boost.

There is a catch though, this thing is kind of jank and is overall clunkier to use:

  • You need a full magazine and the Energy Burst Underbarrel to be fully charged while you spawn the Blood Rifts to get the maximum damage. But, there's another way...

You can make the Sunspot Energy Burst count as 'perma-charged' by doing the following:

  1. Have a full magazine. Charge the Energy Burst to full. Do NOT shoot it.
  2. Cancel the shot through a Melee Attack or using Dead Ringer.
  3. Now you don't need to fully charge the Energy Burst for spawning maximum damage Blood Rifts anymore, it will count as fully charged even in base state.
  4. Swapping weapons will reset this condition, which means you'd have to repeat the steps to have the perma-charge again. This means you're at less liberty to use other weapons if performing this trick.

Potato Thrower IVFleabagTorgue AR

EASIEST TO USE STAT STICK. With the Airstrike Underbarrel, which on the Potato Thrower IV and Fleabag can reach up to 129k Base Damage at level 60. These are the second best-in-slot to hold while spawning the Blood Rifts, but also the easiest to manage.

  • You must have the underbarrel mode active while doing summoning the Blood Rifts.
  • Obviously, use the best you can find. The maximum damage 129k Airstrike Underbarrel will always have a COV (Unlimited Mag) part. The Epic Torgue AR can get up to 127k.

Anarchy

Decent Stat Stick. With the Proximity Mines Underbarrel and Torgue (Impact Mag), this is a respectable fallback choice if you don't have good Enhancement rolls.

  • You need to pre-stack the Anarchy special effect. After that, swap modes to the Proximity Mines and stay on it while summoning Blood Rifts.
  • You can't swap away from the Anarchy, otherwise you lose all its damage stacks, making it very limited in flexibility.

Other Weapons

Order ARGoalkeeper

Kill Drone Underbarrel. Fits perfectly with the minion theme and is something you can (optionally) swap to and shoot out after you already activated Blood Rifts with the Torgue AR.

Preferably find versions with Torgue (Impact Mag), since that has more damage and enables the Head Ringer Torgue Enhancement damage boost. It also lets you shoot the actual gun at Crystal enemies somewhat effectively due to the splash damage, helping your minions against them.

  • The Goalkeeper cannot roll Torgue (Impact Mag), making the Epic Order AR the strongest option of the two if you find one.

Tediore PistolTediore AR

Attack Drone Underbarrel. Another thematic fit, and is something you can (optionally) swap to and shoot out after you already activated Blood Rifts with the Torgue AR.

These drones are comparatively much worse than the Order AR Kill Drones, but they have Splash Radius on their hits. This can be somewhat useful against Crystal enemies.

Preferably find versions with Torgue (Impact Mag), since that has more damage and enables the Head Ringer Torgue Enhancement damage boost. It also lets you shoot the actual gun at Crystal enemies somewhat effectively due to the splash damage, helping your minions against them.

Support Drone Underbarrel Tediore AR can be decent utility.

Jakobs ShotgunMaliwan Shotgun

Spread Launcher Underbarrel Jakobs Shotgun to nuke Crystal enemies. They are a major weak point of the build and since they deserve no sympathy at all anyway, just nuke them.

Beam Tosser / Energy Disc Underbarrel Maliwan Shotgun are also good options, through they don't deal with Crystals as well.

More Weapons...

You can just bring any weapon you like along.

Hot Slugger, Darkbeast etc. They won't perform very well, but should be competent enough if you ever need them.

  • Check out Borderlands 4 META Weapons Tier List for a general list. From there, pick weapons based on the build's strengths and match an adequate Enhancement. That way, any good weapon will play well.

REPKIT

Triple Bypass is excellent for overall utility and somewhat spammable for mobbing.

Order Repkit can roll two offensive rolls or one utility + one offensive, making it versatile and the usual best for boss burstdowns.

Kill Spring is alright if you have sustain issues.

War Paint and AF1000 have long buff durations, which can be nice,

Look for these effects, or combinations of them if applicable:

  • Accelarator (Adrenalized)
    • Cooldown Reduction can be very helpful for running about.
  • Enrage (Experimental)
    • Enrage is a nice damage roll due applying to everything, which is perfect for the double dip sources we have.
  • Amp (Amplified)
    • Amp is perfect for using things like the Kill Drones, allowing them to kill well and also stack a lot of Groundbreaker
  • Splash Damage (Explosive)
    • Splash is an ok boost for the Blood Rifts but shouldn't really be a priority pick.

ORDNANCE

Crit KnifeJakobs Grenade

  • Inescapable DPS increase for the minions, and utility for Mortal Terror

Lingering + Exacting Grenades and Artillery + Ricochet Grenades

  • Can be helpful for Mortal Terror and very fun for mobbing.

Heimdahl

  • Fire and forget, behaves in drone-like manner. Fits thematically.

CLASS MOD

On Class Mod stat rolls, look for:

  • Gun Crit Chance or Skill Crit Chance
  • Kinetic Damage or Gun Damage

Configuration

+5 Deadwire; +Any

  • All the other skill rolls are pretty lackluster compared to Deadwire.

SHIELD

Watts 4 Dinner

  • With Siphon rolls. Good and easy-to-use boost for bossing. Can steal Deadwire procs though which sometimes means it can be a disservice.

Protean Cell

  • Can provide the largest bossing boost, however is not realistically sustainable due to the drain. Fun for performing a boss melt.

Firewerks

  • Excellent for mobbing.

Defensive Shield Options

Onion, Hopscotch, Cindershelly and Pandoran Momento are all decent choices for a more defense-oriented approach.

ENHANCEMENT

On Enhancement Stat Rolls, look for:

  • Gun Damage
  • Gun Type Damage
  • Weapon Equip Speed

Big Banger | Head Ringer Torgue Enhancement

  • Head Ringer is an unnegotiable damage boost that applies to the Blood Rift Remnants. The Epic Enhancement has access to three stat rolls.
  • Big Banger can be fun and the Boom Puppy rockets can actually kill things, but they don't have too much radius and can also kill you.

Firmware

3/3 Skillcraft | 1/3 Active Fire | 1/3 Airstrike, GOOJFC or Reel Big Fist

  • Most comfortable and easiest to use firmware setup since it works without extra steps and the boosts are good.
    • 2/3 High Caliber can be used in place of Active Fire and GOOJFC if you don't have Active Fire unlocked.
    • 1/3 Reel Big Fist is a valid option if you decide to use Groundbreaker.

Specialization

Other Options

  • Contamination
    • More consistency for Bloodletter procs can feel useful.
  • A Honed Mind
    • Can be a decent boost to Deadwire and Bloodletter crits.
  • Groundbreaker
    • If you're feeling punchy.

Gameplay

Mobbing Phase Phamiliar

Have your best or preferred Stat Stick equipped. Follow the steps on how to use it from the Equipment Section.

  • Use Phase Phamiliar. This will spawn a Blood Rift. Use Violent Outburst to spawn further Blood Rifts during Phase Phamiliar.

Keep a watchful eye on Trouble's health. If he dies, you'll have to spam Triple Bypass + Now With Caffeine to use Phase Phamiliar and revive him, or wait.

  • Pick good spots for the Blood Rifts. Give them line of sight and avoid spawning them close to walls.
  • Remember you can only have two Blood Rifts at once, so do not spam Violent Outburst relentlessly, that will end up just nuking Trouble. Use it for smart repositioning of Rifts.

Bossing Phase Phamiliar

Have your best or preferred Stat Stick equipped. Follow the steps on how to use it from the Equipment Section.

Use Phase Phamiliar. This will spawn a Blood Rift. Use Violent Outburst to spawn further Blood Rifts during Phase Phamiliar.

Throw Crit Knives to help your Mortal Terror trigger rates, since Trouble does not have excellent procs rates for it.

Alternatively, swap to Dead Ringer and summon two Specters. Preferably In harm's way so they potentially die quickly but still get enough shots off to trigger some Mortal Terror. This will also spawn two Blood Rifts. Use Crit Knife Jakobs Grenade when you get the chance.

  • We want the Specters to die because Vex minions are poorly designed and eat into your bleeds and share skill procs with the player. This means Specters can rob your Deadwire triggers and make you hit bleed cap very quickly. So, ideally we want them gone quick after they've done their service to Mortal Terror.

Mobbing Dead Ringer

Have your best or preferred Stat Stick equipped. Follow the steps on how to use it from the Equipment Section.

Press Action Skill Input to spawn a Configuration Blood Rift. This will put you into Dead Ringer summoning state (the crossed-arms animation), which counts as an Active Action Skill and allows your minions to benefit from Enchantment.

  • You usually want to avoid spawning Specters or Reapers during mobbing since that will eat into your cooldowns. It's not a problem if you do though, just remember it will cost a full charge's worth of cooldown. Run Now With Caffeine if you want to spawn some.

To spawn another Blood Rift, press Action Skill Input again to cancel the Dead Ringer summoning state and refund you some cooldown. Press Action Skill Input to spawn another Blood Rift (the limit is two at once), and then you can stay on the Dead Ringer summoning state for Enchantment.

  • Pick good spots for the Blood Rifts. Give them line of sight and avoid spawning them close to walls.
  • Remember you can only have two Blood Rifts at once, so do not spam Dead Ringer charges relentlessly, that will end up just destroying your cooldowns. Use it for smart repositioning of Rifts while you (optionally) stay in the 'Summoning State' of the Action Skill for Enchantment uptime.

Bossing Dead Ringer

Have your best or preferred Stat Stick equipped. Follow the steps on how to use it from the Equipment Section.

Summon two Specters.

  • Alternatively, try not summoning Specters at all and instead just spawn only the Blood Rifts, or summon Reapers since they at least can't steal Deadwire. If you luck out, the Blood Rift Remnants + Crit Knife Jakobs Grenade will be enough to trigger some Mortal Terror procs.

With the third Dead Ringer charge, you can either save it or use it to enter the summoning state and activate Enchantment for your Blood Rift Remnants.

  • Since this will also spawn another Blood Rift, it will despawn one of the first two, so you can wait for a Blood Rift to run out to perform this step if you're not in a hurry to melt the boss.
  • If you save the charge, you can then use your other gear to help since your hands will be free: Kill Drones, Spread Launcher etc. That is completely up to you of course.

Blood Rifts Explained & Tips

Blood Rift Remnants Explained

Only two Blood Rifts can exist at once. Do not spam relentlessly or you'll just waste your cooldowns. A new Rift will always replace the oldest.

The Blood Rifts spawned from Configuration inherit some On-Shot gun modifiers and benefit from On-Hit gun modifiers.

Their initial damage is based on half the held weapon's card damage during the time of summoning, meaning we can hold high damage underbarrels while spawning the rifts for maximum effect! Through this we can achieve massive damage from Deadwire which in turn translates into powerful bleeds from Bloodletter.

  • Using Sunspot Energy Burst or Torgue AR Airstrike for Blood Rifts is not a glitch. It is quite literally making the best out of how the class mod works.

Blood Rift Remnant Formula:

[ (Card Damage x 0.50) x (1 + Enhancement Gun & Type + Enhancement Damage) ]

x

[ (1 + Gun + Minion + Tree & Class Mod Splash + Kinetic + Soup) + Critical Modifier ]
