When it comes to assisting your teammates, some champs simply do it better than others. The nature of Tag Fighters like 2XKO always prompts discussion of the strengths of Assists because of the crucial importance of enabling your Point champ.
These rankings take into account the versatility and power of each champion's Assist actions, how well they create offensive opportunities for their Point teammate, and their capabilities when tagged in mid-combo. Notice there is no "low-tier" for these rankings. Assists are extremely powerful in 2XKO, and we do not feel any champ's Assists would justify being ranked as truly low-tier.
As with all of our tier lists, we recommend first starting with whatever champions and teams you personally gravitate towards and feel best suit your individual playstyle and preferences. Don't let a lower placing pull you away from playing the champs you enjoy most!

S Tier Commentary (Best Assists)
Blitzcrank
Although he's often regarded as one of the weaker champs, Blitzcrank as a support character, is very strong.
Blitzcrank's grab Assists pull the opponent into your Point champ, and re-stand. On block, this creates unique mixups due to the standing animation and makes every Point champ scarier to block against.
Mid-combo, his Assists are among the best combo extension tools in the entire game. This also makes him a common choice for Sidekick players.
Tag Launching into Blitzcrank is solid as a finisher, as he can instantly end the combo with full steam from his Super, and the opponent gets forced into a 50/50 guessing game from his command grab.
His only downside as an Assist is that he is not very good at utilizing HandshakeTags because he often ends up positioned too far from the opponent on hit.
Jinx
Jinx'sBackTag rocket is the safest Assist as it is the only full-screen projectile assist (not counting Super Assists).
The go-to strategy for using Jinx assist to call it from near full-screen, then dash or jump in behind the rocket. Jinx sits far back where it's difficult for the opponent to attack her, and the rocket makes it difficult for the opponent to counterattack the Point champ. Even at full range, she can HandshakeTag to convert into a high damage combo thanks to her full-screen beam super.
Teammates that need help rushing get the most value out of Jinx on assist, but the rocket is so good at covering horizontal space, there's no character that wouldn't want it out in front of them.
Caitlyn
The Sheriff of Piltover arrives as 2XKO’s newest champion. Although she has an extremely high skill floor and ceiling, the time and effort required to master her versatile kit are well worth it, as Caitlyn is an exceptionally strong character.
She excels at empowering her teammate to create game-winning interactions. Even from full screen, she can throw out Bola and cover her assist with rifle shots for sneaky HandshakeTag mixups.
Ekko
My Time! My Time! Thankfully, it's not as oppressive as a couple of patches ago, but Ekko still has the best combination of Assists of any champ.
His ForwardTag comes out quick, travels far, and can be Handshake Tagged on reaction for an easy combo conversion.
Possibly even better is his Timewinder Assist. Whether he uses it to cover his teammate, pressure Wake Up, or set himself up to Tag in, Timewinder is very hard for the opponent to deal with.
Thanks to Timewinder's slowdown effect, it lingers on-screen and becomes a nuisance. During the slow, it poses the greatest threat as it'll give the Ekko team a massive combo on hit.
Illaoi
Virtually all of Illaoi's weaknesses can be made up for by selecting her as your Assist champ. Her Assists are literally so good that most Illaoi teams run 2X Assist so she can spam them.
Whereas she struggles to mix-up opponents in neutral, if her teammate can focus on starting the combo, carry the opponent to the corner, Illaoi gets to set up without having to do the initial hard work herself.
Both of her Assist actions are strong. Her BackTag hits hard, knocks down, and has great reach. ForwardTag lunges forward and spawns a tentacle on hit, making it the perfect setup for a HandshakeTag.
Vi
The true power of Vi as an Assist champ is extending combos where most other champs simply cannot.
Her BackTag launches up OTG (on the ground) opponents. Even if her teammate has knocked the opponent flat with a ground slump, Vi's Assist will hit them into the air and allow her Point champ to continue to combo, or Handshake Tag to Vi so she can pick up the combo.
A Tier Commentary (Great Assists)
Warwick
Warwick's ForwardTag is a super fast lunge that tumbles the opponent. Every time he lands this hit, he can use a HandshakeTag and convert with ForwardS2 Special into a huge combo.
The main use for his BackTag is as a combo extension tool, as the multi-hitting uppercut perfectly juggles the opponent for your Point champ to recover from their last attack and land another.
Teemo
Teemo's dart Assist often gets used to lock the opponent in block stun for mixup pressure. Another common trick is to cross the opponent, then immediately call ForwardTag so Teemo's darts hit behind the opponent. Thanks to their range, there's a generous amount of spacing where this will work.
For Teemo's BackTag the mushroom can launch up on the ground opponents, which makes it useful for combo extensions.
His Super Assist deserves an honorable mention as well. Teemo floats across the top of the screen and drops exploding mushrooms. Most champs do not have a way to bypass this attack outside of parry, so it's great for offensive pressure when Teemo is already KO'd
Darius
Darius has two very different Assists that make him a decently versatile Assist champ.
First off, his ForwardTag always wall bounces, which makes it arguably the easiest assist to use as a combo extension tool. After landing a successful tackle Assist, you have a decent amount of time to react with the juggle attack of your choice.
Since ForwardTag wall bounces, it has a fixed amount of hit stun. This means that even extremely late into a combo, it guarantees you can land a follow-up attack.
Just keep in mind that the Assist counts as the first of 2 major reactions before it forces a limit strike.
Darius's Apprehend BackTag disables defensive tools such as Retreating Guard, so you get guaranteed pressure on block. This is particularly effective when paired with another champ with good crossups like Ekko or Vi.
Ahri
Ahri has two good Assists and one of the few projectile Assists.
Foxfire BackTag Assist shoots 3 projectiles, which is strong for keeping the opponent in block stun so her Point champ can set up their mixups. The move also leaves her airborne, making it good for Handshake Tags since she is already set up for aerial mixups.
Ahri's ForwardTag crosses the opponent after hitting them, so at the bare minimum, you can get an easy sandwich with a HandshakeTag.
B Tier Commentary (Good Assists)
Yasuo
Yasuo is generally agreed to have the largest power gap between his viability as a Point or Assist champ. Both of his Assists have long startups compared to the rest of the roster.
The biggest downside of Yasuo on assist is that the actual attack of his ForwardTag comes out delayed. He first travels max distance (or crosses the opponent) before attacking. This gives your opponent time to see the assist, and react with a parry, whereas most other assists are far more challenging to react to.
When using BackTag wind wall, there is a large window for the opponent to punish Yasuo as he is summing the wind wall, then recovering. It's pretty good when used against projectile zoners like Jinx, but even then you need to be cautious of Jinx reacting with her beam Super.
The strong part of Yasuo's ForwardTag is that is crosses the opponent on block (as long as you aren't too far away). This is one reason why Freestyle with Yasuo is so strong, because every time the opponent starts blocking, his team gets a free sandwich set up.
Although it can be used for combo extensions, Sweeping Blade Assist is not as effective as many other Assist attacks because the timing and position of the hit will significantly affect how the opponent gets juggled.
Braum
Easily one of Braum's best moves is his ice shield when he's on Point. As an Assist, however, BackTag is a bit inconsistent as the timing is difficult to match to block the opponent's attack. For the most part, he has to shield Assist by prediction as it is too slow to use on reaction.
Braum's ForwardTag gets used much more often. The Assist destroys projectiles and lunges him forward. On hit, he can HandshakeTag > S2 Special > S2 Special to quickly give himself Unbreakable.
