Build Overview

This Vex Endgame Guide focuses on playing into the Phase Phamiliar Companion Skill and plays fully into Elemental Damage to cater for all situations.

This build is a Dedicated Red Tree Build which makes use of many of the Mechanics that are available to Vex and our Phase Phamiliar.

This is an All Round Build which is Extremely Tanky whilst using that to our advantage to allow us to Scale Our Damage whilst allowing our Phase Phamiliar to become Invincible and gaining Incredible Damage through the use of the Command Skill Beast Mode and the Capstone Unsealed.

The Skills Above are intended for a Level 50 Character that has completed the Campaign. If you are not quite Level 50 yet then I would check out one of the levelling guides above or if you are between Level 40 and Level 50 there will be Work Towards Variants in the near future.

Skill Info

The premise of this build is to play heavily into the Defensive Mechanics unlocked through theTeen Witch Siren Class Mod whilst using our Incredible Defence to allow us to Scale Our Damage in ways that still allow us to have a Well Rounded Build that can straight up Tank Bosses and still Output High DPS.

It's important to note that the first thing recommended to take is Hasty Fiends because Movement Speed tends to be a Premium in most games like this and this is an easy way to gain 15% Movement Speed straight away, along with Damage Reduction. This is a Must Have in all Vex Builds as far as I'm concerned!

This is backed up by the Utility Skills Grave Sustenance and Grave Command which assist ourPhase Phamiliar Action Skill and Beast Mode Command Skill so that we can use them more often to aid us towards the goal of Higher Uptime. It's very hard to have 100% Uptime on the Phase Phamiliar Active Skill because it starts its Cooldown after it ends, so we aim to extend the Action Skill Duration during combat with a small change to Reduce its Cooldown on Critical Strikes through Reawakening. We gain some perks when our Action Skill is active so our aim here to to have it up where we can.

Beast Mode is taken to make our Phase Phamiliar Invincible during combat and increase their Damage Output with +30% Attack Speed and +30% Movement Speed whilst it's active. This will have near 100% Uptime due to Grave Command reducing it's Cooldown by 1/4 on Every Kill. If for some reason our Phase Phamiliar does Perish then we will Revive them very quickly due to the Respawn Cooldown Reduction also baked into Grave Command.

We play strongly into Ordnance Damage due to the Minion Damage scaling that Blasted Fiends brings converting 50% Ordnance Damage to Minion Damage. Later on we can also gain 25% Gun Damage to Minion Damage as well through the Specialisations so this gains value in multiple places all the way into the Endgame.

Due to scaling our Minion Damage so much we also take Deadwire with support from Grave Current which boosts it's Damage drastically. With a fast firing gun such as Plasma Coil this will acivate and fire a Shock Remnant frequently which acts as an Energy Shield Destroyer regardless of what Gun Type or Element you are using. It also scales it's Damage from 400% Gun Damage so it can hit for Big Numbers. It's a bit of a Hidden Tech but it's incredibly strong with it's Only Weakness being Shock Elemental Eaters since you can't control when they activate and this would heal these Enemies.

Since we are playing into Ordnance Damage and look to take a High Charge Ordnance such as Jelly or equivelant, we take Blast Rites which grants us 25% Overshield and 25% Fire Rate for 8 Seconds after Using Our Ordnance. This both solves our Need For More Firerate as well as granting us additional Overshield Generation since we'l be looking to Use Our Ordnances frequently. This is backed up by Corporeal which comes as part of the Teen Witch Siren Class Mod so we can Stack Above The Maximum Limit to grant us Very High Maximum Overshield Capacity / Duration. It additonally also grants us Gun Damage whilst we have Any Amount Of Overshield so this works as an excellent Offensive / Defensive Option.

Elemental Essence is taken because it Generically Scales our Elemental Damage which Doubles Up when our Phase Phamiliar Action Skill is Active. We go for ways to Scale Our Damage that are as Generic as possible to allow the Freedom to play with any Elemental Damage weapon of Your Choice.

This is backed up by Maxing Out Sacrificial Essence which is a Risk / Reward Node with Extremely High Offensive Reward of +75% Damage at the cost of +30% Damage Taken. It's worth noting that this is a generic Damage Scaler so it will scale all our damage. We are incredibly Tanky due to using:

  • Teen Witch Siren Class Mod
  • Supporting Overshield Skill Nodes
  • High Damage Reduction
  • High Capacity Energy Shield

This allows us to afford this Trade Off for the Huge Damage Boost. It does mean that you will learn to Not Dodge during Combat unless you Have To as it Resets the Kill Skill Stacks but honestly we are So Tanky you can generally just Out Sustain most damage through Leeching and Dodge when you feel you Need To.

Weapon Info

Plasma Coil

This Legendary SMG pairs extremely well with this build, offering Dual Elements of Shock and Radiation and Extremely Fast Burst Fire, it offers the ability to Nuke Enemy Energy Shields and grants us decent Splash Damage when set to output as Radiation Damage. It also has very good Handling on it so you don't even have to worry about speccing into Gun Handling at all which is an added bonus.

You can farm a Plasma Coil from the Primordial Guardian Timekeeper which who is located at Dominion, Terminus District, Upper Dominion.

Note: You will need to have completed the Story Mission: The Timekeeper's Order to gain access to this boss.

Vertex Shotgun (Maliwan)

Ideally you will find a Vertex Maliwan Shotgun with both Incendiary and Corrosive on it as this plays incredibly well with this build.

The Incendiary is a Must Have whilst the Corrosive can be Flexible although it would be Best In Slot. This Shotgun outputs Extremely High Damage and Fires multiple Projectiles on Each Shot so makes for an excellent way to remove Enemy Health / Armour Bars. This in combination with the likes of Plasma Coil we have access to 4 Different Elements that covers all needs whilst only having to worry about Swapping Between 2 Weapons which makes for a Comfortable Playstyle.

Wombo Combo

This Legendary Assault Rifle pairs extremely well with this build, offering Immense Damage and a variety of Elements it can come in. The Zip Rockets really boost the damage for this weapon so this is an added bonus.

You can farm a Wombo Combo from the Rippa Roadbirds who are located at the Ripper Drill Site 'Saw's clench', Ruined Sumplands, Carcadia Burn.

  • Pre-Requisite - None

RepKit

I recommend a Ripper Repkit here because some of the mods are extremely potent for this build. You will want to look for one that has a High Healing Value and preferably with one or more of the following mods:

  • +50% Damage Reduction for X Seconds
  • x% Life Leech on Use

Ordnance Info

I recommend using a High Charge Count Ordnance with a Relatively Low Cooldown such as Jelly or an equivelant. This will allow you to use it frequently enough to keep Blast Rites active with 100% Uptime as well generating crazy amounts of Overshield.

You can farm a Jelly from Splashzone which who is located at Fadefields, Coastal Bonescape, Riptide Grotto.

Note: You will need to have completed the Story Mission: Recruitment Drive to gain access to this boss.

Jelly comes with Different Variants depending on the Mods it has associated with it, each having Slightly Different Stats. I have personally been using an Atomic Jelly which makes it a Nuke Grenade with Increased Damage, Radius and Cooldown so it is more Effective at killing Groups Of Enemies but honestly I think any version of the legendary would work great here.

It's also worth noting that Jelly can come with many different Elements associated with it as well. I used a Corrosive Jelly which helps a lot against Armoured Enemies so I would look out for one of these if you can. If you get a Different Element, try to make it one that isnt on our Plasma Coil as this outputs these Damage Types very quickly already.

Class Mods

The Best In Slot Class Mod here is Teen Witch because it grants us Incredible Survivability and unlocks the ability to Spec more Offensively without becoming Glass Cannon.

You can farm a Teen Witch from Primordial Guardian Radix which is the Vault Boss in the Carcadia Burns Region located at Carcadia Burns, Grindstone of the Worthy, Arch of Radix.

Note: You will need to find the 3 Vault Fragments in the Carcadia Burns Region before you can access this.

What Teen Witch does is it essentially allows us to additionally make our Life Leech apply to our Energy Shield and Overshield as well which is Incredibly Strong. It also grants us a Flat Life Leech value as well as Ranks of Grave Thirst so by default we will have over 20% Life Steal and there are ways to expand upon this if neccesary as well.

This is a Must Have for this build and if you don't have it a lot of the mechanics will be Clunky At Best since your Overshield Generation will be fully reliant on Ordnance Use.

Energy Shield

A very solid option for an Energy Shield that makes your extra tanky is the Cindershelly which grants you a Stack of Resolve for 2% Damage Resist up to a Maximum of 25 Stacks when Taking Damage. This is extremely Strong For Defence and it doesn't time out until your Shield Is Broken so in combination with all the rest of the Defence on this build it pretty much caps you at 50% Damage Reduction. If you're lucky enough to find one with mods that Increase Its Capacity and Boost Your Damage this is potentially one of the Highest Rolling Energy Shields in the game Exceeding 20,000 Energy Shield.

You can farm a Cindershelly from Callous Harbringer of Annihilating Death in the Terminus Region located at Terminus Ranage, Heart Of The Mountain, Craven's Nook.

Note: You will need to have unlocked the ability to Break Through the Order Vault Doors using the Locust Canisters which become available after the Story Mission: One Fell Swoop.

Alternative

If you don't have a Cindershelly then we take an Energy Shield with the Highest Possible Capacity that we can that has Decent Mods on it at the same time.

Some of the mods you can look out for are:

  • Increased Energy Shield %
  • Damage Reduction on Dealing Damage
  • Shield Boosters on Taking Damage
  • Power Boosters on Dealing Damage
  • Overshield on Dealing Damage

Enhancements

You absolutely want to find a Maliwan Enhancement that has the Primed Potency Modifier which grants us +100% Status Effect Chance On Reload.

This Isn't Mandatory but it does allow application of Status Effect Damage from your Elemental Guns with a 100% Chance so long as you hit The Target with the Fire Bullet After Reload. This is extremely strong as our Life Leech also works with Status Effect Damage granting us Constant Sustain through the Teen Witch Siren Class Mod.

In terms of Additional Modifiers look to take anything useful to your loadout with particular interest in the following:

  • +% Gun Damage
  • +Gun Magazine Capacity

Firmware Info

There are plenty of Firmware sets that could work here but some will have dimished returns such as Rubberband Man as we already have such high Damage Reduction and Life Leech.

Note: It goes without saying that these Firmware can be located in Any Slot, the important part is the Number of Each Set you have equipped.

High Caliber

This grants us Increased Projectile Speed and Increased Gun Damage after Two Firmware Items are associated but more importantly allows our Projectiles To Pierce enemies which pairs extremely well with Plasma Coil which you will be able to Spray across groups of enemies and hurt many at once as a result.

Gadget Ahoy

This grants us Ordnance Cooldown and Ordnance Damage which both pair nicely with the Ordnance Tech in this build. I did toy with making this the 3 Set Firmware because it would grant 20% Damage on Killing An Enemy with an Ordnance. There is definitely room for argument that this may be more valuable than the ability to allow our Projectiles To Pierce Enemies but I shall have to test this.

Specialisation Info

The following specialisations pair Extremely Well with this build and are Highly Recommended to be taken in the order they are displayed above going from Left to Right and Top to Bottom.

Bullets Are Scared Of Me

This grants us a Near Permanent 30% Damage Reduction boost to the build since we will be Leeching so much Sustain we are likely to have at least one of our Health or Energy Shield at Maximum most of the time.

The Best Defence

This grants us a Near Permanent 30% Gun Damage boost to the build since we will be Leeching so much Sustain we are likely to have at least one of our Health or Energy Shield at Maximum most of the time.

Riddle You This

An extremelty strong Gun Damage Offensive Option granting up to +50% Gun Damage which stacks extremely fast with the likes of Plasma Coil equipped.

Full Spectrum Arsenal

This allows our Ordnance Damage to benefit from 50% Gun Damage Bonuses which is extremely strong because it also means Blasted Fiends benefits from 25% Gun Damage Bonuses as a result. This node essentially Boosts Every Part Of Damage this build uses.

Gameplay

By this point you are geared up to blast the entire game. The following is the rough build rotation:

  • Activate Beast Mode to make your Phase Phamiliar Invincible.
  • Use Phase Phamiliar to Teleport your Phamiliar onto your Target.
  • Use Ordnance liberally to gain Fire Rate and stack Overshield from Blast Rites.
  • Swap Elements on Guns to suit the situation.
  • Shoot all the things!
