Build Overview

This Vex Levelling Guide focuses on playing into the Phase Phamiliar Companion Skill and fully playing into Shock Damage..

This build is a Combo Tree Build using the Red Tree and Blue Tree to maximise the Shock Damage of Vex and our Phase Phamiliar.

It takes a mixed balance between Offence and Defence so it shouldn't feel too Glass Cannon to Level Up on with your Phase Phamiliar gaining Incredible Combined Damage through the Command SkillBeast Mode and the Capstone Unsealed.

Skill Info

The premise of this build is to play heavily into Shock Damage and Minion Damage whilst using Overshield and Lifesteal as your defensive mechanics.

It's important to note that the first thing recommended to take is Hasty Fiends because Movement Speed tends to be a Premium in most games like this and this is an easy way to gain 15% Movement Speed straight away, along with Damage Reduction. This should make you fairly Tanky early on.

This is backed up by the Utility Skills Grave Sustenance and Grave Command which assist ourPhase Phamiliar Action Skill and Blink Strike Command Skill so that we can use them more often.

Blink Strike is taken for doing Big Damage to Larger Targets when they are Under 50% Health and should be usable regularly due to Grave Command.

Defensively we take Overprotective to grant both Vex and Phase Phamiliar Overshield on Killing An Enemy, something we'l be doing a lot of in this game!

Finally we start working towards the higher tier Red Tree Skill Nodes and takes Yowl and Bay. Even though if doesn't provide the Gun Damage all the time, it will boost our Phase Phamiliar Health dramatically and allows us to work towards Shocking Attunement quicker.

Weapon Info

This build will require a Shock Weapon later on to as we take Shocking Attunement but for this part of the game Any weapon you find will work just fine so this should make the starting stages a little more kind on the RNG.

Until I can play the game this is the best I can provide but once the game launches I shall update this ASAP afterwards.

Equipment

Weapons
Repkits & Ordnance
Utilities

This section has been recently added to the website and will be updated in the near future with full information so keep your eyes open for this.

Weapon Info

Vertex Shotgun (Maliwan)

Ideally you will find a Vertex Maliwan Shotgun with both Shock and Corrosive on them as this plays incredibly well with this build. The Shock is a must have and the second element can be Flexible but Corrosive is particularly useful against Armoured Enemies.

You will want to try find one of these that fires Multiple Bullets at once, so it will display in your Damage Meter as something like 100 x 2 where 100 is your damage number.

RepKit

I have recommend a Ripper Repkit here because mine came with the Tank Mod on it which is incredibly useful early on. It gives +50% Damage Reduction for 10 Seconds on use helping you in sticky situations a great deal.

Anything else half decent will be fine here but I would try look out for Mods like the above to help you against the harder enemies when taking larger amounts of damage.

Ordnance Info

The Vladof Heavy Weapon is this Huge Cannon which does Massive Damage after swapping from your Shock Weapon gaining your bonuses from Shocking Attunement. Finding one of these with a relatively Low Cooldown is ideal and the higher the Damage per Second the better. Use this to clear Groups Of Enemies or help take down Harder Single Target Enemies.

Class Mods

I need to test a bit more to find what the 'Best Mod' will be to place here but for now anything semi useful will do.

Below would be some particularly useful Skills to get on a mod:

  • Shocking Attunement
  • Deadwire
  • Grave Current
  • Stormblessed
  • Elemental Essence
  • Grave Elements
  • Grave Fiends
  • Obedient Fiends (Minion Offensive Option)
  • Portents of Suffering (Status Effect Offensive Option)
  • Prismatic Ichor (Status Effect Offensive Option)
  • Keen Suffering (Status Effect Offensive Option)
  • Ars Arcana (Skill Damage)
  • Reawakening (Action Skill Utility)
  • Channeling (Action Skill Utility + Attunement Utility)
  • Grave Quickening (Action Skill Utility)
  • Sacrificial Essence (Glass Cannon)
  • Grave Power (Max Kill Stacks)

Below are some useful Stats to look out for on a mod:

  • Increased Shotgun Damage
  • Action Skill Cooldown Rate
  • Status Effect Chance
  • Status Effect Damage

Energy Shield

We take an Energy Shield here because it makes the most sense with Overshield access in this class. I recommend an Order Energy Shield for now because they seem to roll very high Energy Shield Capacities but anything that has a good Maximum Energy Shield, Recharge Rate and Recharge Time on it will do just fine here.

Enhancements

You absolutely want to find a Maliwan Enhancement that has the Transfuser Mod on it which allows your Status Effect on enemies on your Kill to apply up to 3 Nearby Enemies On Death.

I can't state how absolutely incredible this Mod is since it has a 100% Chance to happen and it basically Incapacitates or outright One Shots most Trash Mobs.

Since we will be Shocking Enemies a lot on this build, it makes total sense to take this.

Specialization

Specialisation Info

There are no Specialisations until Endgame.

Gameplay Loop

It's so early that we don't have access to many of our Skills and you'l come across the Weapons you find in your Playthrough. The following is the rough build rotation:

  • Use Phase Phamiliar to Teleport your Phamiliar onto your Target.
  • Use Blink Strike to deal big damage to Enemies Below 50% Life.
  • Shoot all the things!
