ENERGY DISC WAS STEALTH NERFED IN THE MAD ELLIE UPDATE!!!!

It no longer works properly with Primed Potency and isn't as good as bouncing inside the enemy. Beam Tossers and + status chance have become the play for big bossing numbers.


The core premise here is simple. Abusing high DOT Maliwan weapons in combination with Disc Launcher. The Maliwan enhancement that gives your guns 100% status chance is EXTREMELY exploitable on Amon. Mix it with Amon's snappy reloads and big focus on Status Effects in tree and the enhancement itself becomes an entire build.

Shoot - reload - shoot - reload.

Apply MASSIVE shock DOT. Electrical Fire applies a MASSIVE fire DOT. Death occurs.

I KNOW IT SOUNDS ANNOYING - but really, it's not. These Stellium shotguns have short and clean animations that barely take a second on this set up. Make the habit of pressing reload EVERY time you shoot, and it quickly becomes a game of ha-ha I set you on fire - and you - and you - etc. Plus, the slow Maliwan orb means you need to aim so you'll always have time to get the reload done while you judge the next shot.

"Girth wont the slow projectile speed make it harder?"

Nah. The radius is big enough you don't need to be super precise. It also becomes easy to make a habit of simply rushing the enemies and landing the shot somewhere near them if the crit isn't achievable. With a few minutes of practice it becomes EZPZ. Asher's Rise is nice for getting up from FFYL if no one is within Stellium range.

Loads of the players out there are already using Hot Sluggers so what's the difference? Less pressing R? Nope. You should be manually reloading The Slugger regardless. This is more fun than a Slugger and does more damage if you're not C4sh

What ends up happening is you lob a shock orb of doom towards an enemy. As long you reloaded your gun before doing that all you have to do is nip them and they will be lit up with a DOT that THEY WILL NOT SURVIVE.

Strengths And Weaknesses

  • Mobbing is cake.
  • Bosses have nightmares of this build
  • AOE coverage
  • Easy up from FFYL if enemies are close
  • FUN!!!! Very high APM build
  • Augments are flexible
  • Flashy 1 shots
  • Specific items
  • Very far away enemies are annoying
  • Some would consider the involvement a negative. I consider it fun.

Build Variants

There are several different ways to water this set up down if you're working your way up to it.

Sweet Embrace is an ok stand in until you find a strong Stellium.

Icon is super rare - Primed Potency is what you need from it.

Mixologist is kind of funny and can actually be decent when used properly with Bolt Action and Watts.

Watts 4 Dinner with Amp parts will work as a stand in if you're not able to finish the boss fight fast enough and Protean Cell is giving you issues - this is a SWEATY set up. I've found with the swap to Beam Tosser that Watts amp applying to multiple stacks of DOT is now competitive to Protean. Both shields are on the table.

DOT Shot 2.0 - worked A ok and didn't rely on an underbarrel. Use 3/3 High Caliber and a regular Stellium until you can get that one drop. Abuse the piercing properties of High Caliber and shoot downward at the boss through their foot - applying 2 DOTs instead of one (sometimes). You will not melt TUVH6 bosses like this but if you focus on reload speed you wont be hurting for DPS either.

Stormcutter for its quick animation to start invincibility from afar and looping Onslaughter

What Burns Within soup for fire damage

Wield the Storm extend the naturally shorter shock DOTs tiny bit - and make the other DOTs far more potent with extra ticks at the end.

Impetus amp refill

Gut Punch will get applied by grenades and Stormcutter

Forged In Steel invincibility

Catastrophe global crit chance for Contamination synergy

Crackling Aegis for buffing DOT damage

Electrical Fire for applying double DOTs with shock gun and for mixing with Catastrophe

Maliwan Shotguns - Stelliums - single projectile high DOT damage guns.

The IDEAL shotgun is shock main element, Beam Tosser underbarrel and Torgue + Jakobs Licensed Parts. This is the work horse do it all gun. If you want to Min-Max use Jakobs + Corrosive for mobbing and Torgue Beam Tosser in all main flavors for bossing. T

Crit Knife - just throw one you dont need 100% crit chance and you dont have time in the bossing loop anyway

Watts 4 Dinner Triple Amp roll can pump up the DOT on the tosser

Protean Cell the bonus damage applies to EVERYTHING including your DOTs, the bonus on your guns can also apply a shock DOT which will then get the bonus again

Ripper Sniper with Target Marker underbarrel - for debuffing. The Rain dance is heavily involved though, and this is just 35% soup. The impact isn't very big.


Classmods

Icebringer

This is an Epic Classmod that can roll up to 5 extra points in Wrath of Nature, this skill at 10% will give you 150% Status Chance and Cryo Effectiveness

Furnace

This Legendary COM rolls up to 5 points in Raging Inferno. Up against large Red Bar enemies you can use this is conjunction with Force of Nature to follow up any Gun DOTs with a MASSIVE Triple Dipped Fire DOT off of the Detonation. This build is not fully optimized for these DOTs but given how much synergy it has with amped underbarrels its very easy to throw on.

Torchbearer

Can roll up to 5 points in Wield the Storm, which despite its weak appearance can have drastic effects on the TOTAL damage output of your DOTs. Shock DOTs being short limits the impact here but if you were to forego the AURA of the blip-from-existence shock DOTs, you can apply this 70% duration increase to

Primed Potency for mobbing

This allows you to guarantee a DOT on each shot as long as you reloaded beforehand. Mobbing will NOT feel good at all if you dont have this enhancement

ALTERNATIVE - if you don't have a good disc launcher you can run 3/3 High Caliber

    • Shoot downward through a bosses foot to make them get hit twice with High Caliber - this does nothing for energy disc though.

Bullet Train for shooting on the move - more for convenience.

One Shot, One Kill pump up damage on unamped shots, gets drowned out once you have on shot and amp built up though. Maxes at a little under 5K damage flat damage.



Gameplay

Mobbing

  • Pop Onslaughter for bonus fire damage (and DOTs!) and run around nuking everyone you see.
  • With Stormcutter specced you can both extend the duration and refund cooldown of Onslaughter for damaging enemies.
  • If you can damage 4 enemies with Stormcutter you should have Onslaughter back.
  • Shoot reload, shoot reload, shoot reload
    • If you'd like to abuse transfuser and pump up the DOT damage it spreads to completely unnecessary levels - watch this video I made and learn how to do a funny

Bossing

SWEAT ALERT! For maximum DPS like I displayed the rain dance is involved. Luckily maximum DPS is not needed.

PRE FIGHT

  • Shoot one round - do not reload - do not switch to Tosser yet.
    • If you're using a Triple Bypass for amp you can use it now.
    • If you're using a purple amp with a 2nd damage perk WAIT.
  • If using Protean:
  • Slam on the launch pad or boss drop in so you get launched as you act
    • This part is flexible, some bosses give you less time than others. Inceptus sucks but Radix is slow.
  • Pop Onslaughter as you're mid air entering the arena

FIGHT START

The use of Protean Cell puts you in a precarious position while dancing in front of a boss. This means you need to fit this DPS routine into a short time span so you can deal with any damage you take by abusing Forged In Steel. This coupled with Onslaughter filling up your shield will keep you alive just long enough to nuke the boss.


  • As you land use Stormcutter to make yourself invulnerable
  • AMP DURING THIS ANIMATION!!!!
    • You can animation cancel repkits with several different actions by using the ampkit during the animation. Slams, Forgeskills, and probably some action skills. Experiment.
  • Throw a crit knife
    • This is not needed but it helps with the flashy kills - if you're having issues you can skip it
  • Reload your gun for Bolt Action / Primed Potency
  • Switch modes for Daed-dy O
  • Shoot the tosser at an angle that it will get the most hits on the boss.
    • Shoot downward at Radix so it bounces back into him
    • Shoot at Origo's face so it passes through him lengthwise
    • Each boss will be handled a little bit differently
    • BE TK cannot be 1 shot without FON. Shock DOTs simply do not have the duration to chew through his 80m health armor bar AND his other bars.

Force of Nature

Has been added with the level 60 update. This does not change the process, it just adds a detonation and a FAT RI dot at the end of it, now without the need for a COM! But even stronger with it.......

Just equip it and Rocket Punch the boss after you shoot him. If immunity isnt needed save your Stormcutter for a stronger Detonation. Punch is 50% Stormcutter is 100%.
