Overview

Once players reach the Endgame in Path of Exile 2, they'll be offered several points of interest that they can travel to to unlock Passive Points on their various Atlas Trees. Points for the primary Atlas Tree can be acquired by entering the Fortress area where players need to fight through a series of Maps and Bosses to unlock the full potential of their endgame experience

The Fortress

The Fortress

The Fortress area has several different segments that can be unlocked as players progress throughout it. Completing any basic Map in the area will unlock a single Point on the primary Atlas Passive Tree, and completing special areas and Pinnacle Boss fights will unlock even more Points.

First Layer

The First layer is where players will begin their expedition into the Fortress

  1. The Ancient Gateway - this is where players first enter the Fortress area which unlocks the first major area of the Fortress. As players progress forward they will begin to encounter other points of interest
  2. The Burning Monolith - the Burning Monolith is an arena for the Arbiter of Ash Pinnacle Boss fight, but players who stumble on this area first won't be able to access the fight immediately. In order to unlock the fight, they will first need to travel to two areas to collect Fragments to open the seal to the Arbiter of Ash:
  3. The Western and Eastern Gateway - to the far left and right of The Burning Monolith, players can complete the Western and Eastern Gateways to collect one of the two Fragments required to fight The Arbiter of Ash. These are special Maps with powerful bosses in them, and completing these will unlock the secondary layers of the Fortress, Atlas Tree and allow players to face off against The Arbiter of Ash

Second Layer

The Second layer of the Fortress contains three sub-areas with important points of interest. This area can be unlocked by completing the Eastern and Western Gateways and defeating the Arbiter of Ash

  1. The Origin Tower - this central area contains the arena for the Arbiter of Divinity fight, but the fight can only be accessed after players have fought two sub-bosses in the adjacent areas.
  2. Western and Eastern Enigma Chambers - these Maps contains the two bosses that must be defeated in order to collect the Origin Cradle and Spark necessary to unlock The Arbiter of Divinity fight

Other Points of Interest

  1. Precursor Towers can be found on the edges and corners of the Fortress. These are special Map areas with mini bosses that can be defeated to collect 4 additional Atlas Passive Points
  2. Site of the Chosen - on the back side of the Origin Tower, players can find the Site of the Chosen. This is a special area that offers a single Level 100 character each league to sacrifice their character to grant every other player in the league an additional Passive Skill Point for their character. For all other players, heading to this area and collecting the Mote of Power will grant them this permanent buff.

Atlas Passive Tree

Each Map and Boss defeated in the Fortress will grant an Atlas Passive Point up to a maximum of 335, which allocates the entire Tree. Some of the Keystones found on the Tree give players an option of several choices, allowing for some creativity and specialisation into specific content

Atlas Tree Sections

Similar to the Fortress, the Atlas Tree is broken up into three sections. Players can only access the next section after progressing through the major intersections of the Fortress.

Unlocking Atlas Tree Sections

  1. The first section is immediately available to all players and applies to all Waystone areas
  2. The second section is unlocked after opening the Western and Eastern Gateways and defeating The Arbiter of Ash and applies to Area Level 70+
  3. The third section is unlocked after defeating the bosses in the Western and Eastern Enigma Chambers and applies to Area Level 75+
  4. The final few points at the very top of the Tree can be allocated after defeating The Arbiter of Divinity

Gaining More Atlas Points

  1. The most basic way to gain more Atlas Passive Points is by completing Maps in the Fortress Area
  2. Precursor Towers can be completed for an additional 4 Points
  3. Defeating Pinnacle Bosses grants 6 or more Points

Defeating The Arbiter of Divinity again will grant a mass of Points - often over 40 at a time. This can be done in a few ways

  • For players in Trade leagues, purchasing an Origin Spark and Origin Cradle or a single Origin Core from the Currency Exchange and placing them into the Precursor Reactor which is found at the base of the Origin Tower in the Origin Engine

  • For SSF players or players not looking to leapfrog their progress, they can venture out into the infinite Atlas and locate a Patriarch and Matriarch Halls and defeat the bosses there to collect an Origin Spark and Origin Cradle
  • Defeating the Arbiter of Divinity will complete all Maps in a section of the Fortress except for the Precursor Tower/s. Make sure to complete these to gain the last few Points required to finish your Atlas Tree!
