Overview

Once players finish Path of Exile 2's campaign, they'll be introduced to the endgame Atlas system, which can be extremely overwhelming at first glance. In areas outside of the Ziggurat Refuge starting point, players can find hubs of content that begin questlines focused on each of the existing league mechanics in the game.

The explored Atlas with the Ziggurat Refuge sitting at the centre. Players fresh into the endgame will have many parts of the Atlas overworld enshrouded in fog.

Endgame Overview

Locations

As players venture out into the Atlas overworld, they'll start locating points of interest that direct them to new Questlines for each of Path of Exile 2's mechanics. By completing Maps and Bosses in these quest chains, players will unlock Atlas Passive Points for each of the mechanics. The locations of each of these in relation to the Ziggurat Refuge are as follows

Fortress - Ancient Gateway - Northwest

Vaal Temple - Vaal Ruins - Northeast

Abyss - The Well of Souls - East

Expedition - Ruins of Kingsmarch - Southeast

Breach - Monastery of the Keepers - South

Delirium - The Withered Willow - Southwest

Ritual - Caer Tarth - West Southwest

When players first encounter each of these mechanics in their Maps, they will be introduced to the associated Questline and the above areas will be revealed on the overworld Map.

Atlas Passive Tree

The new Path of Exile 2 Atlas Passive Tree is overwhelming at first, with hundreds of Points, all of which can be allocated.

In the centre, players will find the primary Atlas Passive Tree: these Points are unlocked by completing Maps and Pinnacle Bosses in the Fortress area

The smaller Trees each relate to PoE 2's league mechanics and Points can be unlocked by completing Maps within those Questlines and by defeating the Bosses along the way.

Completing the Questlines of each of Path of Exile 2's mechanics will grant Passive Points that improve their difficulty and reward

Atlas Masters

Additionally, as players venture out, they will be introduced to Atlas Masters who introduce further questlines that can be completed to unlock Atlas Master Points.

  • Hilda: found at Hilda's Camp
  • Jado: found at the nearest Anomaly Boss Map
  • Doryani: found at the first Corrupted Nexus players complete

Where Do I Go First?

The biggest question most players have is "What should I do first?". There is no 'correct' answer to this question - if you like Abyss, go check out the Abyss quests. If you like Breach, head down South.

That being said, heading to the Fortress is usually a good idea as this unlocks Atlas Passive Points that apply to all of your Maps, not just to league-specific content. Many of these Passive Points also allow for further improvement to your Tablets, which can help with juicing your endgame content.
