Build Overview

The Lightning Spear Amazon, named Javazon based on the Original Concept of Lightning Javelin in Diablo 2, is a Ranged Map Clearing Machine. The Clear Play Pattern is similar to Spiral Volley, however the management of Frenzy Charges is a lot easier on Lightning Spear.

Using Lightning Spear for Clear and Storm Lance for Single Target, this build fully embraces the Spear Combo Playstyle. Mapping is a 1.5-Button Playstyle early on, needing to sometimes manually cast Sniper's Mark to restart the Frenzy Charge Generation. Once on higher budgets, we can fully automate Frenzy Generation. Bossing requires 2 Buttons to maximize Damage depending on the Size of the Boss, more on both in How it Plays & How it Works

The Single Target still needs a little bit of working, we are bursting Bosses in 5-10 Skill Rotations, but can be improved (Currently T10 Maps, will update till this zooms through T15s and Pinacles)

Build Variants

This Variant is your starting point. Focusing on Clear and Damage, while relying on Evasion as Survivability. This Variant is good till Difficulty 3 Bosses and slightly juiced mapping, after which it falls off, and we will have to invest more into the build.

If you need to level an Amazon, look for a Twister Leveling Guide (more Buttons but stronger) or use my Amazon Levelling Guide using Gas Arrow.

Currently experiencing a Bug that limits Character used, so the Gear explanation is simplified a lot

No Uniques on this build are mandatory, however, all are incredibly high QoL!

The Black Insignia comes with free Rarity and grants Tailwind on Critical Strike, granting us the most important Piece of the Deadeye Ascendancy for 'free' as we already a Crit Build.

Kitoko's Current enables Electrocute for our Build, enabling Combat Frenzy for Frenzy charge Generation

For our Weapon, we want to use a High Accuracy Weapon and use Penetrate with either Flat Lightning or % Phys Damage (Note that Penetrate is only our third Ascendancy Pick)

Lycosidae and Beacon of Azis are good Early Uniques that grant a good Damage Boost.

Get as much Evasion Rating on your Body Armour as possible, evasion is our primary Defensive Layer

Rest of the Gear is Life & Resistances and of course Movement Speed on Boots.

We also need a little Dexterity somewhere.

No Gem Swaps needed to maximize Single Target on this Build

We get Infuse Weapon from Elemental Infusion.

The 4th Support on Lightning Spear is flexible, currently testing Gambleshot, see how good it improves clear.

For Single Target use Barrage with the new Inhibitor Support it enhances the Attack with each one counting as consumed a Frenzy Charge if you have one.

Jeweller Orb Priority

Lightning Spear > Storm Lance > Primal Strikes > Sniper's Mark > Wind Dancer > Herald of Thunder > Orb of Storms

Quality Priority

Lightning Spear > Storm Lance > Primal Strikes > Herald of Thunder > Sniper's Mark

Spirit Gem

We need 95 Spirits for all our Gems, if you want to use a Companion: {0}, either drop Herald of Thunder or Clarity, Cannibalism & Precision

Ascendancy

  1. Critical Strike | We are a Crit Build and rely on Crit to Proc Sniper's Mark and generating Frenzy Charges
  2. Elemental Infusion | Good Additional Single Target, we have the Cap of 6 Infusions all the Time
  3. Penetrate | Massive Damage Boost as Accuracy not only gives Flat Damage, but also helps with Hitting at max Range and Critting
  4. Azmeri Brew | Needs testing, but this build nukes Mana even more then Gas Grenade, likely best pick to mitigate Mana Consumption somewhat

Passive Tree

Due to Critical Strike and Falcon Dive we can gain additional Benefits from Accuracy Rating.

Outside of that we scale Dexterity for Flat Accuracy Rating and Critical Damage Bonus, as well as generic % Damage for our Build.

If you have enough Evasion Rating, 15.000 or more, you can use Acrobatics.

Jewels

Get one Jewel with Chance to Blind on Hit and another with 2% Mana on Kill, for other Stats look for any % Damage increases and % Critical Damage Bonus/

How it Plays

Clear

We have a 2 Step Clear that will nuke the entire Screen, assuming we Crit, there is still something a bit iffy/wonky with Critical Strike as we do not Crit as consistently as we should, but it still feels phenomenal!

  1. Step: apply Sniper's Mark (Automated in Mid budet Variant)
  2. Step: attack with Lightning Spear

After the first Loop you should always have 1-2 Frenzy Charges and your Lightning Spear will clear the entire Screen.

If a Rare Survives the Lightning Spear Mayhem. Fire a frenzy empowered Storm Lance and it will die.

Single Target

Our Single Target Loop is a bit more complex, taking a few Steps to maximize Damage

Big Bossing Loop

Pre Cast on Critical Setup:

  1. Step: apply Sniper's Mark
  2. Step: use Storm Lance to Proc Sniper's Mark
  3. Step: fire Storm Lance for each Frenzy charge
  4. Step: re-apply Sniper's Mark
  5. Repeat Steps 3 & 4 till the boss is dead

Post Cast on Critical Setup:

  1. Step: place Orb of Storms (swaps to weapon Set 2)
  2. Step: saddle Rhoa or Weapon Swap back to Spear
  3. Throw Storm Lance till Boss dies
    1. Frenzy charges are generated from Cast on Critical Sniper's Mark
    2. If the Boss does an immunity phase and you have time, re-place your Orb of Stormsan

How it Works

Lightning Spear

Lightning Spear behaves very similarly to Lightning Arrow, with the key difference being that we cannot scale the Primary Projectiles. Any Chaining, Forking, or additional Projectiles are added after the Split to the Secondary Projectiles, the Bolts.

On its own Lightning Spear is not that great for Clear, however if we add a Frenzy Charge to it, it becomes a absolute Clear Machine. Dealing More Damage and adding 3 Splits meaning the amount of Bolts get Trippled as well. The best part is that everything after the Primary Projectile auto targets. So it will seek out any Enemy in Range and hit them. Usualy killing everything that isn't a Rare and sometimes even the Rares.

Even if the Primary Projectile does not hit any Enemies and instead lands against a Wall, we will still get the auto-targeting Secondary Projectiles.

We are using Volt on Lightning Spear, as we do not spam Lightning Spear but use it only once every few Seconds, we can build up maximum Volt Charges to gain free additional Damage and Chain up to 3 Times

Storm Lance

When Lightning Spear is not enough to kill something, Storm Lance takes over. When fired, it lodges a Spear in the Ground that will periodically(every 0.8 Seconds) damage all Enemies within Range over 6 seconds. However, we mainly use its enhanced version. As it is a Spear Throw Skill, it can also consume Frenzy Charges.

Storm Lance with a Frenzy Charge Consumed is enough to handle any Rare the Game throws at us. Dealing the Damage over 1.5 Seconds instead of 6 and exploding at the end for a 300% Damage effectiveness burst and creating Shocked Ground, scaling with out Shock Magnitude.

Charge Infusion

During any other action this Build does, whenever consuming a Frenzy Charge, we generate 2 Lightning Infusion, a Player can have up to 6 Infusions of each Elemental Type Stored. However, we only generate and consume Frenzy Charges, so we only use Lightning Infusions.

On throwing a Spear Skill we consume 1 Charge to cause a Explosion where it lands, this helps with our Single Target. So any Lightning Spear initial Primary Projectile Hit will cause a small Explosion and each impact of Storm Lance will cause one too.
