PoE 2 Build

[0.5] Slow Cap Support Chronomancer

Updated on Jun 22, 2026
Jun 22, 2026

Build Overview

Update for 0.5 (Jun 19)

  • Inevitable Agony has culling strike, so you can for example stack rarity with Andvarius, Aurseize and other Rarity stuff and just use Inevitable Agony on Rare Mobs, Bosses, and Rogue Exiles
  • Rings can roll Curse Magnitude, so you can push Temporal Chains even further if you want to reach 75% Slow Cap for Unique Mobs/Bosses

*End of update

Useful links

Set 1 uses Presence Area, Curse Area, Block, Exposure Effect.
Set 2 uses Skill Duration, and a bit extra Curse Magnitude to add a bit of duration to Time Freeze that you MUST use on Weapon Set 2.

TL;DR:

  • Temporal Chains can reach around 118% Temp Chains Effect as long as you have Aura Magnitude on Scepter that you get from Essence.
  • Even that Slow is capped at 75%, scaling still worth for Bosses, and for Time Freeze duration.
  • Time Freeze has ~16.7 Sec duration against Bosses.
  • GIGA -#% Resists from Frost Bomb and Elemental Weakness.
  • ~40-50% Block.
  • Many flexible skill slots.
  • Starts to work with relatively cheap gear.
  • Can reach over 10k ES, really hard to die because how slow are mobs around.

More detailed about build

  • First of All Temporal Chains effect calculation
    1. Base value of Temporal Chains at level 20 is 59% Slow
    2. Blasphemy has 41% Less Curse Effect at level 20
    3. We get ~120% Increased Curse Magnitude, so total curse Magnitude is 220%. Then 220% x 0.59 = ~130%
So with Blasphemy, Temporal Chains get 130% of its original value, or 30% increase
    4. Then Aura Magnitude comes in, total of 70% Aura Magnitude from tree and Scepter mod
    5. Aura Magnitude and Curse Magnitude are additive for Curses used with Blasphemy
    6. So in total we get 30% + 70% = 100% Curse Magnitude for Temporal Chains with Blasphemy
    7. And finally 59% Slow + 100% Magnitude= 118% Temp Chains effect on normal mobs which is well above 75% Cap.
7.1. Against Magic Monsters (15% Less Effect): 118% Curse - 15% = ~100% Temp Chains, still above cap.
7.2. Against Rare Monsters (30% Less Effect): 118% Curse - 30% = ~82% Temp Chains, still above cap.
    7.3. Against Bosses (50% Less Effect): 118% Curse - 50% = ~59% Temp Chains, now we below 75% Cap.
  • Expire rate of other effects from Temporal Chains:
    1. And other effects expire slower by 25% + 100% = 50%.
    2. Time Freeze lasts around ~12.5 Sec.
    3. On unique monsters Temporal Chains has 50% less Curse Effect, so 50% slower expiry rate become 25%.
    4. Duration of Time Freeze then 12.5/0.75 = ~16.7 Seconds.
  • Frost Bomb with Potent Exposure and all Exposure Effect from Tree, so huge -#% Resists to mobs.
  • Elemental Weakness with that will reduce mob resists by another huge chunk on top of Exposure.
  • Overwhelming Presence to lower stun and ailment threshold of mobs, so it's easier for your carry to apply ailments or stun.
  • Flame Wall that will add some damage to your carry if they use projectile skill.
  • Orb of Storms just to hit mobs and apply effects like Blind II. And as addition to Flame Wall to get Lightning Infusion.
  • Convalescence to start ES Recharge whenever needed.
  • Build use shield and has ~40% Block.
  • Build get around 6-10k ES.
  • Optionally you can use Blink as well.
  • Optionally can use Magma Barrier of lowest level just to get that block chance.

Ascendancy alternatives

  • Can play it on Lich with Rupture the Soul to grant carry explode on kill, Necromantic Conduit to grant Unholy Might and Eternal Life for defense

Quest Rewards

  • Venom Draught: Stun Threshold.
  • Halls of the Dead: 5% Fire/Lightning/Cold Resists.
  • Qimah: 15% ES, 3% Movespeed
  • Kaom's Lesson: 30% ES

Gear in my PoB example is nothing crazy, some items are 3-4 mods, just to show that there's room for other stuff if you find like really good gear with a lot of resists, that can save suffixes or even allow to use some unique.

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • People like when you nearby
  • People don't like when you run away

Build Variants

Use whatever good leveling build, since you will fully respec anyway, unless you leveling in party then follow same tree.

This gear in PoB doesn't look anything crazy, can't tell exact price but you can make something similar in under 10 Div for gear + few Divs for jewels and Perfect Jeweller Orbs, and 20lvl uncut Skill Gems.

About Gear:

  • Main Weapon Set:
    - Omen Sceptre with %Increased Damage to Allies, Added Damage to Allies, %Attack Speed to Allies, etc. Some %Spirit if you need it.
For Scepter you can also use Perfect Essence of Command to get 15-20% Aura Magnitude on Suffix. So you can buy any cheap but decent Scepter, and slam that Essence.
    - Shield with %Block Chance, Resists, and some Life preferably.
  • Second Weapon Set:
    - Omen Sceptre with any mods just to have spirit for Blasphemy to work on second weapon set.
    - Arvil's Wheel with max roll Skill Effect Duration, or as close to 50%. Mostly for Time Freeze.
  • Helmet:
    - Alpha's Howl is universally best option providing 100 Spirit and doubling Presence Area.
    - The Deepest Tower only if your carry play build in bottom part of tree where they can take Low Life related passives like Finishing Blows or Finality.
    - Sandstorm Visage that has Blind aura in Presence, so carry can use Blindside support, plus it applies Critical Weakness if you need it faster than only with Omen Sceptre
    - Blood Price that simply remove 10% of enemy Life and increase Presence Area.
    - Leer Cast that grant 50% Increased Damage to allies.
    - Or just Rare Energy Shield Helmet, which kinda weird on support over all other options.
  • Amulet:
    - Fixation of Yix that grant lots of DPS for your carry.
    - Warlord Leader for Instil.
  • Rings:
    - Resits with atleast good Resists.
    - Or Evergrasping Ring to grant Extra Damage to Allies
  • Armor:
    - High Energy Shield, Resistances, if needed Intelligence.
    - Serpent Talisman for gloves.
  • Belt:
    - Life with Resistances. Strength if needed.
  • Jewels:
    - 4% Curse Magnitude.
  • Life/Mana Flasks:
    - Life Flask with highest recovery and charge generation.
    - Mana Flask with increased recovery.
  • Charms:
    - Most important is Thawing Charm against Freeze.
    - With more slots use Grounding Charm and Stone Charm against Shock and Stun.

On skills above, pink outline means skill allocated only to weapon set 1, while green only to set 2.

Shortly about tree:

  • First of all, you can do support Chrono in different ways, each has different purpose and tree.
  • Set 1 is what you run 99% of the time.
  • Set 2 only when you swap to use Time Freeze, so it has skill duration, and some AoE because there's nothing else to choose.

Ascendancy

  • Flexible, Time Freeze is whole point of this build
  • Inevitable Agony and Apex of the Moment can be changed to Temporal Rift
