Build Overview

This is basically variation of my Cold Chronomancer

*Obviously build isn't tested nor optimized, which i will do soon after i update Chronomancer

Leveling below added as separate tab with leveling tree


Disciple of Varashta looks really good defensively, and has couple decent offensive options as well (Ordered):

  • Kelari's Judgement: This skill applies Critical Weakness which grant flat added Crit Chance to Spells.
    *Good option for first Ascendancy Passive, unless you happen to get good Focus and Staff, then take next passive first.
  • Instruments of Power: Allow to use Focus with Staff, but you will get half of stats provided by Focus.
    *This is obviously better than Wand/Focus.
    *In best case from really good Focus you getting: +1 Level, 50% Spell Damage, ~10% Cast Speed, ~25% Crit Chance and ~150ES. On top of Staff stats.
  • The Fourth Teaching: - 1 sec base delay on ES Recharge, and 40% More Recharge Rate on low ES(Below 50%)
  • Sacred Rituals: 60% of Current ES will be added to your Armor.
    *Simply with 5k ES you will have 3k Armor, which is huge for ES Caster that usually has no Phys Damage mitigation

How much ES Recharge delay you can get:

  • By only taking Rapid Recharge and Convalescence, ES Recharge Delay goes down to 1.2 Seconds, which is fairly quick.
  • And to get good ES Recharge Rate, really good option is Waveshaper, it makes Mana Regeneration Rate modifiers be applied to ES Recharge Rate, it also grant 30-50% of Mana added as Armor which stacks well with Sacred Rituals Ascendancy that add Armor based on 60% of current ES

About build itself:

  • Ice Nova for clearing and triggering Cast on Elemental Ailment with Comet
  • Frost Darts + Flame Wall for single target to trigger more Comets
  • Siphon Elements to get Infusions for Comet

Venom Draught: Stun Threshold.
Halls of the Dead: 5% Fire/Lightning/Cold Resists.
Qimah: 15% ES, if needed 5% Resists.

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • Potentially good alternative to Chronomancer defensively
  • Lack of Mana sustain on long boss fights

Build Variants

This Leveling tab has leveling tree, which is different from Early Mapping tree

LEVELING:

  • With first Uncut Skill Gems take Ice Nova and Frost Bomb.
  • With first Uncut Support Gems take Magnified Area I and Considered Casting or optinally Spell Cascade for Ice Nova.
  • For Frost Bomb take Magnified Area I and Potent Exposure or Short Fuse I
  • Then get Frost Darts whenever you can, with Multishot I, Considered Casting and later Concentrated Area.
  • Also get Flame Wall for Frost Darts. For Flame Wall use Prolonged Duration I and Spell Cascade.
  • Optionally: get Orb of Storms to get Lightning Infusion for Flame Wall, and just as another spell that sit there and does some damage.
  • Then get Snap with Considered Casting, Harmonic Remnants I, later Cooldown Recovery I. Snap generate infusions used on mobs with ailments, allowing to have high uptime of Cold Infused Ice Nova.
  • Then get Elemental Weakness.
  • Once you unlock Comet, use it instead of Frost Darts on single target, can also drop Flame Wall and Orb of Storms.
  • Highly recommend having Fire Extra Damage on Staff, so Comet will ignite consistently so you can use Snap to get Fire Infusion for Comet and repeat that cycle.
  • For Spirit Skills:
    - Arctic Armour with Frost Nexus, Encroaching Ground and later Persistent Ground III.
    - Siphon Elements with Harmonic Remnants II and Remnant Potency I.
    - Once at 100 Spirit, can try Cast on Elemental Ailment with Comet, i'm yet to try it early in campaign.

Main Hand:

  • Staff: +# to All/Cold Spells, %Extra Lightning/Fire/Cold Damage, %Spell Damage, %Crit Chance to Spells, %Cast Speed, %Crit Spell Damage.
  • Focus: +2 to All Spells, +# Mana, any good amount of ES, Resists, Int.

Weapon set 2:

  • Chiming Staff with +# to All Spells to use Sigil of Power.
  • How to get it cheap:
    - Buy Chiming Staff with Level 19+ , make it Rare, use Perfect Essence of Sorcery to get +5 to All Spells, done.

Armor:

  • Helmet/Gloves/Boots: ES, Mana, Resists, Int. For Boots also Movespeed.
  • Body Armor: Waveshaper should be really good option for this build.

Jewellery:

  • Rings: Resists, Mana, Int, Mana Regen. Can be Dex or Str too, you need a bit.
  • Belt: Resists, Mana, Str if needed. Some Armor on belt is decent too but not important.
  • Amulet: +# to All Spells, %ES, ES, Mana, Cast Speed, Mana Regen, Attributes or Resists if needed.
  • Amulet Instil: Aspiring Genius to get Arcane Surge for more Mana Regeneration.

Jewels:

  • Rare jewels with 1-2% Mana on Kill, Crit Damage, Spell Damage, or other useful mods.

Charms:

  • Thawing Charm against Freeze, or Nascent Hope
  • Forsaken Bangle against Chaos Damage

Early you take Spell/Cold Damage, Crit stuff closer to end of campaign.
ES nodes once you get decent amount of ES from gear, lets say 100-150es helmet/boots/gloves, and 350-400 es body armor

How it Plays

Clearing:

  • Early you use Frost Bomb that generate Cold Infusion for Ice Nova
  • Then once you unlock Snap, use it on frozen mobs to generate multiple Cold Infusions and have high uptime of Cold Infused Ice Nova
  • Keep Frost Bomb as it applies exposure

Single target:

  • Early you use Flame Wall with Frost Darts on chilled/frozen target.
  • Later once you unlock Comet use it instead. Use Snap to get Fire Infusion for Comet, then use that Fire Infused Comet which applies ignite, then use Snap again to get Fire Infusion and loop continues.
  • Highly recommend having Staff with Extra Fire Damage!
