How to Get and Upgrade Clash Runes in Aion 2

Clash Runes in Aion 2 provide extra gear score and useful combat bonuses through two equipment slots that are easy to overlook. Filling both slots gives your character an immediate improvement, while collecting spare runes lets you work towards stronger upgrades without putting your equipped pair at risk.

This guide explains where to get Clash Rune Chests, how to equip your runes and what to consider before enhancing them.

Your equipment screen has two Rune slots beneath your accessories. Open a Clash Rune Chest from your inventory, then right-click the rune to equip it.

Each base Clash Rune contributes 40 item level, so filling two empty slots adds 80 gear score before enhancement. You also receive the rune’s combat bonuses, making these slots useful for more than meeting content requirements.

Prioritise obtaining and equipping your first pair before spending your spare copies on higher enhancement attempts.

Regional quests are a useful starting point for collecting your first Clash Runes.

Open your Journal, select Regional Quests and inspect the Additional Rewards for available quests. Look for Clash Rune Chest in the reward list, then complete the relevant objectives and claim the chest.

Kraka Pond Pests is one quest that awards a chest. Available quests depend on your faction and progression, so check the rewards in your own journal as you advance.

Open the chest from your inventory to receive the rune and its enhancement scrolls. Keep those scrolls for upgrading your runes later.

Nightmare provides another way to collect runes after claiming your available quest rewards.

Open Nightmare > Trade Shop > Growth and look for the Clash Rune Chest, which costs 500 Phantasmal Fragments.

Earn the currency by completing Nightmare challenges, then return to the shop when you need additional copies. The opening challenge has a suggested item level of around 1,000, with harder stages available as you progress.

Start with challenges you can complete reliably. Building a supply of rune chests gives you replacements and spare copies to enhance while your equipped runes continue providing their bonuses.

The Season Shop offers another source of Clash Rune Chests.

Open Season > Season Shop > Growth to find the chest for 4,000 Oath Coins.

Work through the current season’s activities and reward objectives to collect coins. Activities include Arena of Solitude, the Abyss, Transcendence, Nightmare and Ascension Trials.

Check the Season menu regularly to claim completed rewards and review the shop’s remaining purchase allowance before spending your coins.

To enhance a Clash Rune, open the Enhancement menu, select Growth and choose the rune you want to upgrade.

Enhancement requires Enhance Stones, Kina and a Clash Rune Enhance Scroll. Check the material cost and success chance before confirming each attempt.

The first upgrade to +1 has a 100% success chance. Higher attempts become progressively less reliable:

• +2: 80% success chance.
• +3: 66% success chance.
• +4: 50% success chance.
• +5: 33% success chance.
• +10: 10% success chance.

Even an 80% success rate leaves a one-in-five chance of failure.

Read the failure penalty displayed in your enhancement window before pushing higher. If it warns that the rune can be destroyed, a failed attempt can remove the item entirely. Do not assume that the protection available for ordinary equipment also applies to runes.

Keep your two strongest runes equipped while attempting higher enhancements on a spare.

Use this approach:

1. Fill both Rune slots. Secure your equipped bonuses before chasing higher enhancement levels.
2. Obtain another Clash Rune. Use a remaining regional quest reward or buy another chest.
3. Enhance the spare. Keep your equipped pair in place while attempting upgrades.
4. Swap it in when it becomes better. Replace your weaker equipped rune once the spare provides an improvement.
5. Keep the replaced rune for future attempts. It becomes your next spare.

This protects your existing setup while you work towards a stronger replacement. Enhancement still consumes resources and carries the displayed failure penalty, so stop when you run short of spare runes or materials.
