Intro

Wylder is a jack-of-all-trades character who can fulfill multiple roles besides support.

He can be a great frontline if built correctly or a great DPS. For now, we focus on him being a DPS since this is his main role.

This build can be for general use, but the Day 3 example is specifically for beating Gladius.

After creating this build, it was also used to beat Libra solo!

Game Plan and Pathing

Day 1

Like most characters, your base HP isn't amazing, so it's important to kill some enemies, get Level 2, and then we have options.

If we are near a Church, go there. Churches give you extra flask charges, and on any melee character, those can be life-saving.

Fort’s are also great early settlements to go to because the enemies and bosses are fairly easy to deal with, and they always include a map for the location of talisman beetles.

You can also decide to go to a Main Encampment to find a shopkeeper and a smithing table who tend to spawn there often. There, you can also defeat the boss for extra levels. Usually aim for level 5-8 after day 1 to have a good setup for the boss and day 2.

While you should look for a weapon that suits your playstyle and works best on this character, keep in mind to look for weapon passives that fit you, even if you won't use the weapon.

Day 2

On Day 2, we want to start looking for either a Field Boss, Castle, or Ruin. If you are lucky and you have the Crater spawn in your world, go there immediately.

It will take the entire day to get through, but it is worth it since you get a ton of runes from the enemies, and if you reach the bottom, you can upgrade any weapon to legendary quality no matter what. The best part? You don't need to be level 10 to wield it, you can be level 1 and wield that legendary weapon you made!

Try to still look out for those churches, and if you don't have The Crater spawn, a mineshaft, so you can at least upgrade a weapon to Epic with the rewards there.

Day 3

With this guide, we are taking into account that you fight the Nightlord, Gladius, Beast of Night (Tricephalos).

Be sure to check the shop and level up before you enter the arena!

The best plan for Wylder while fighting any boss, and ESPECIALLY Gladius, is to stick to them. Your grappling hook ability works amazingly to get that done. Gladius is the most dangerous at mid-range because his sword on his back hits you the most there.

Keep an eye on your teammates as well, since even though Wylder Ultimate is mostly used to break a boss’s stance instantly, it can also be used to instantly revive teammates, which can come in clutch.

Additional Tips

  • You want to 2-hand almost always, but if you know what you are doing and have a buckler/parry shield, you can also parry bosses to get them down even quicker. This, however, is not recommended for beginners since if you miss the parry, you can easily end up dying.
  • Be sure to use consumables on every day end boss fight, there are plenty to go around, so don't be greedy and keep it until you die.
  • Even though this guide is for DPS Wylder, if you see your team has 2 DPS like Ironeye and Recluse, you might want to opt for a more tankier setup where you run maybe a great shield. Wylder can do all of this easily because he has amazing scaling.
  • If you dash in a direction and then use your grappling hook without being locked on, you can grapple away something, making undodgeable attacks dodgeable.
