Overview

Libra (Equilibrious Beast) is a Nightlord Boss in Elden Ring Nightreign, characterised by its goat-like body with two giant Frenzy eyes and the huge staff it wields. Before the fight, Libra will offer players different types of deals, presumably allowing players to trade some stats in exchange for others. All players must make a decision before the fight starts.

It uses its staff to produce frenzy magic orbs that explode on contact with the ground. It can leave sigils on the ground that explode some time after, too, and has powerful AoE magic attacks that cover wide areas around it. Additionally, Libra can slam its staff around in delayed, precise hits. Keep your distance from the sigils on the ground and move continuously to avoid Frenzy buildup.

During the fight, Libra can enter a Frenzied state, and he uses its huge body to charge and jump at multiple players, slamming its horns and body around. While Libra is in this state, keep running away from it and make use of the openings in between combos.

The key to this fight is not to be greedy with attacks: Players will often find small openings to retaliate in between Libra's attacks, but trying to attack more times than they should will make the boss immediately attack them back.

Deals

Before the fight, Libra will offer players different types of deals, presumably allowing players to trade some stats in exchange for others:

  • I wish to expand my intellect: Re-specs your character stats to boost intelligence. Reduces one level.
  • I want resistance to ailment: Grants resistance to ailments but decreases max HP.
  • I want to hold death at bay: When the player’s HP gets low, fully restores HP once. Reduces max HP.
  • I wish to have great dexterity: Increases STR for reduced HP and FP.
  • I wish for eventual greatness: Increases max HP/FP/Stamina after a period of time with halved max HP/FP/Stamina
  • I want to fight at utmost strength: Increases STR, reduces max HP and max FP.
  • I want to gain many levels: Grants 3 levels, but each flask use reduces one level.
  • I desire a powerful weapon: Grants a powerful weapon. Reduces two levels.
  • I refuse to make a deal: The player will not deal with Libra.

Regular Phase

Libra casts magic orbs that explode on contact with the ground.

It can also leave sigils on the ground that explode when players go over them, and has powerful AoE magic attacks covering wide areas.

It slams its staff around in delayed, precise hits. Keep your distance from the sigils on the ground and move continuously to avoid Frenzy buildup.

Avoiding Frenzy/Madness Buildup

Libra’s attacks cause Madness buildup. When it's maxed, the player will take immense damage and stay immobile for several seconds, often resulting in death.

Walking over the golden crystals that appear periodically on the ground will reduce the Madness gauge. Try to keep the bar at less than 50% to avoid unexpected Madness procs.

Channeling State

During the fight, Libra will sit still in the air, covering itself in a golden shield and becoming invulnerable to all damage. Golden sigils will appear around it, and players must rush to destroy these sigils by running through them, attacking them, or throwing items at them.

If players can destroy the sigils in time, Libra will be knocked down and enter its Furious phase, but if players can’t, Libra will enter its Golden Phase.

Furious Phase

Libra foregoes any magic attacks and uses purely physical attacks. It gains incredible speed, charging and jumping at players, also slamming its horns and body around in long attack combos.

This state wears off quickly, so running away from it is a safe strategy. Only attack in between its combos to avoid getting hit.

Golden Phase

Libra covers itself in a golden armor, boosting its damage reduction.

This state boosts its regular attacks:

  • Sigils on the air linger for longer and launch projectiles in 360 degrees around
  • Sigils on the ground appear more often and are larger
  • Libra invokes more magic orbs around
  • Libra’s staff attacks gain a delayed effect, making them more difficult to dodge and hit harder.

This phase is the most difficult one of the three, since players must deal with different projectiles and attacks at once, both from Libra and the sigils.

At the end of this phase, Libra will kneel and slam its staff on the ground, causing quick Frenzy buildup to all players. The only way to avoid Frenzy is to run around the arena, collecting the golden crystals its attacks leave behind. Otherwise, heal to avoid dying to the Madness.

How to Beat Everdark Sovereign Libra (Equilibrious Beast): New Mechanics and Upgraded Old Attacks

Libra's Everdark Sovereign fight features a new phase, changing the dynamic of the fight drastically.

The boss starts off in its regular phase until it reaches about 75% health, where it will begin channeling and then enter its Everdark phase, which combines the Frenzy and Golden phases and allows it to summon NPC invaders.

Having access to ranged sources of damage, like spells, bows, or ranged Ashes of War, will allow players to hit Libra much more frequently during the fight, as it moves around often. Applying Poison or Scarlet Rot is also a good strategy to chip away at its health. Libra retains its weakness to Madness and Holy damage, so aiming for weapons and spells with those affinities will make the fight easier.

Everdark Phase Transition

Upon reaching 75%, Libra will begin channeling for about 15 seconds. Players are free to hit it for about 10 seconds, but a light pillar will appear around Libra at the end of the channel. Using ranged attacks and spells during the phase transition is safer.

Everdark Libra retains the same moveset as the regular phase, but some of its madness projectiles are buffed to be like in its Golden phase. Using Madness on the boss will have it enter its Frenzy state for a short period of time like the regular version does. Overall, the moveset stays the same, and players should use the same strategies as with the regular Libra, focusing on not being too greedy with their attacks.

However, the fight has many new mechanics to watch out for, and players will need to maintain focus on Libra, the NPC invaders, and the curse that is currently active.

NPC Invaders

Periodically during the fight, Libra will summon Condemned invaders, NPCs that mimic the Nightfarers in the party. These Condemned come with pre-determined loadouts and focus on certain moves: Guardian will often stay guarding with shields, Ironeye will stay at a distance, throwing arrows, etc.

Libra will continue throwing out madness projectiles and other attacks while staying in the center of the area, so players need to watch out for those moves aswell.

In some cases, Libra will summon double the number of Nightfarers, making the fight even more difficult.

Curses / Challenges

During the Everdark phase, and after summoning NPCs, Libra will throw a random curse, making the fight harder. These will persist until all Invaders are defeated:

  • Reducing player HP by 50%
  • Constant madness buildup. Players will need to find and collect yellow stones on the ground to reduce Madness.
  • Losing a level every time a flask is used
  • Allies are invisible
  • Reduced evasion on dodges
  • Creating perpendicular light walls that cause damage on hit

Players need to adjust their playstyle and strategy on the fly to avoid the chaos of fighting Libra and invaders while dealing with the random curse.
