Intro

This is a general build to use when playing the new Nightfarer Undertaker.

The Undertaker is a very versatile, but also a strong solo character that has multiple options when going for a build.

You can build her like a full Strength character going for a weapon like Greataxe or for a faith focused build with a weapon like Marika's Hammer.

The most important thing is to think out which way you want to lean before going into the game since it will impact how you select your relics.

Relics

The best Relics for Undertaker by far are the ones you get from her quest. Another great option is the Dark Night of The Fathom which gives a good chunk of survivability which is already amazing on this character. You can replace the latter with other relics if you want.

The selection of relics are listed in priority. If you go with relics that are dropped or gambled, you need to make sure it either has Faith +3 or Strength +3. This dictates which build you want to lean into.

Weapon Passives

For weapon Passives we focus on either getting Add Holy to Weapon (+30) or Attacks Inflict Rot (+30) depending on the boss you face. Some bosses are resistant to holy damage like Fulghor. Meaning if you run a full holy build into him, it can be detrimental. Instead go with a rot setup which you can never go wrong with in those cases.
Charged attack focused passives like Improved Charged Attacks (+12%) or Charge attacks cause a holy shockwave can have great effect if combined with stance breaking passives, relics or dormant powers. Making it very easy to stance break Nightlords.

Ailments

Like we stated before, if you want status ailments in a this build, focus on Scarlet Rot first unless you are fighting the new boss Weapon-Bequeathed Harmonia which is vulnerable to Sleep which is where you take that status effect. You can also take a Frostbite weapon if you don't find a good Scarlet Rot weapon.

Talisman

The best talisman by far are the Axe Talisman and Warrior Jar Shard because they compliment her playstyle super well.

Weapons

When finding weapons for the Undertaker focus on finding hammers or axes since they tend to compliment her the best especialy some with an S scaling in strength.

A classic one is the Rotten Battle Hammer which is all around an amazing weapon especialy if you can find 2 and powerstance them. This will stance break enemies and apply Scarlet Rot very fast.

Holy options would be Marika's Hammer and the Gargoyle's Black Axe which both have faith scaling as well.

For Strength specific options go with a Pickaxe, Greataxe or Crescent Moon Axe and level them using smithing stones. All 3 of these have a S scaling in Strenght making them absolute monsters once you have them leveled up till epic.

Skills/Spells

A good skill for any Strength based heavy weapon is Cragblade making for very easy stance breaking.

Golden Vow (skill) is another good skill which can be used as a great buffing tool before fights.

The best spells are Shared Order and Holy Ground because they buff both you and your allies

Game Plan and Pathing

Day 1

Day 1 is all about orientation, especially with the new Shifting Earth event, which is basically a much more challenging map. It's important to get level 2-3 before heading to an objective to fight bosses for loot, since at level 1 you are very weak.

After reaching level 2 minimally, head towards a Cathedral, Encampment, or Fort. These are the easiest to do at lower levels, leave the Ruins, Castle, Tunnels and Evergaol's for level 5+

You also want to check which variant of the Castle you get. There are 3 variants: Banished Knights, Crucible Knights, or Trolls. If there are trolls, leave it and don't come back unless you are level 10 or higher. If there are Banished Knights just head there on day 2. But if there are Crucible Knights, you are lucky. They are very easy to kill, especially if you know how to parry, which makes them trivial. They also drop the most amount of runes out of all of them, making this the easiest way to reach level 15 fast.

Don't forget to stop by churches on the way to your objectives because we want to level till max flask level if possible, visiting all 3 churches.

Day 2

After defeating the night boss of day 1, remember which enemies are in the central Castle and if you can/want to go there. If not, heading to locations until you get your desired weapon is a good start. If you already have a weapon you like, level it up if possible using the level 2 Smithing Stone (2) from a tunnel.

You can also try to kill Elite Field bosses at this point, but beware if you are below level 10 that they can oneshot you occasionally.

If there is a township on your map, head there instead. They always have great loot, sell a level 2 Smithing Stone (2), and if you are playing solo, they sell an extra, which makes the final boss more forgiving by giving you an extra revive.Wending Grace Sometimes, some very rare weapons that can only be found in Townships or Buried Treasures are sold here.

AIm for level 15 but a minimum of level 13, if you are struggling remember to level your flask, come back to harder fights later or forget about them, and lastly LEVEL YOUR WEAPON.

Day 3

Day 3 is the Nightlord fight, which is to say, buy the extra Wending Grace and do your best!

Additional Tips

Undertaker's abilities can be a bit confusing at first, especialy her active.
Normally when you activate her ability she gets faster running speed and won't consume stamina, your toughness and combo attack power are increased, and your dodge improves into a dodge step move.
But what you really want from her active is the empowered version.
If Undertaker's ultimate gauge is full, she can use her active to consume it and get greater buffs. This will increase her attack power tremendously, movement speed greatly, and she can dodge lethal attacks.

Her ultimate can also be tricky to hit, so i recommend practicing it in the Roundtable Hold's Sparring Grounds to get accustomed to its range. Use this as a more agressive alternative to the upgraded Active ability for when you want to stance break a boss.

Only use Hammers and Greataxes to fully utilize her kit.

Don't forget you get a free revive every day for the bossfight, so there are cases where it is good to trade a death for free healing.
