Blood Loss Executor Build (Theorycraft)

Intro

This build enhances Executor’s natural role as a melee DPS character focused on Dexterity and Arcane. His Skill, “Cursed Sword”, allows him to deflect enemy attacks and retaliate with a strong slash, and should be used to nullify enemy combos and hard-hitting attacks.

Katanas are the bread-and-butter of this character, as their swift moveset complements Executor’s low defenses, and he has extra moves when wielding a Katana too.

Furthermore, their innate Blood Loss is further boosted by the character’s high Arcane stat, making status ailments great on him. Other dexterity-based weapons with good status effects like Polearms and Curved Swords can work on him, too, but you should prioritize Katanas because of their better moveset

Furthermore, you’ll want to keep a handful of Boluses and healing items in your inventory, since his passive Skill, “Tenacity”, boosts damage after healing from status ailments.

This has been theorycrafted before the official release, check back later for updated Executor Builds.

Armaments

Note: There aren’t many Katanas, so just grab the best ones available.

Best-in-slot

Alternatives

You could power-stance two katanas, significantly increasing damage whilst becoming more vulnerable to enemy attacks because of the slower moveset.

Talismans

Best-in-slot

  • Lord of Blood's Exultation - Katanas have innate Blood Loss, so you’ll be activating this quite frequently.
  • Shard of Alexander - You’ll be using Ashes of War frequently when your character Skill is down.

  • Dragoncrest Shield Talisman - You have low HP while being a melee character, so improving your survivability is key.

Game Plan and Pathing

Day 1

Executor has lower HP than other melee classes, so stay on the rear while your Skills are down. Avoid getting swarmed by groups of enemies, since you will be unable to deflect attacks from the sides or behind.

On Day 1, you should immediately look for nearby small camps or settlements where you can take on weaker foes like soldiers and knights and easily level up to Lv 3. Try to improve your survivability through dormant powers and weapon passive effects, and get better Katanas or dexterity-based weapons.

You should equip any weapon with a suitable passive effect for your character, even if you won’t use said weapon.

Day 2

On Day 2, you should again travel around the map looking for any nearby settlements. Executor excels against bosses due to his strong Skills, so you should be able to take down the strongest optional bosses on the map and get valuable loot.

By the end of Day 2, you should have a suitable Katana, or more than one if you’re planning on using different Ashes of War. Stock up on Boluses and consumables, and make sure to have enough levels and survivability to tackle Night Bosses and Night Lords.

Day 3

At Day 3, remember to buy any suitable equipment with the leftover runes, upgrade your main weapon, and head on to face the Night Lord.

During boss fights, you want to keep your distance and not engage fully unless your “Cursed Sword” skill is up, since that’s your main defensive capability. When your ultimate, “Aspects of the Crucible: Beast” is up, go all-in on Night Lord.

Be careful, however, to use it at a convenient time: Bosses may have invulnerability periods or phases where they’re hard to reach (or have damage negation). Keep an eye out to make the best use of your transformation.

Additional Tips

  • Executor has extra moves when wielding a Katana. Getting used to them will diversify your options in battle.
  • Your Ultimate Skill, “Aspects of the Crucible: Beast” can be used to attract bosses while your team heals, and to quickly revive fallen allies. Do not use it for damage only.
  • While Blood Loss is generally the best status ailment for Executor, some enemies and bosses are immune to it. Learn the weaknesses of enemies, especially Night Lords, to maximize your damage output with statuses.
