Fulghor Expedition Wylder Build

Intro

Wylder is one of the best solo characters in the game, especially against Fulghor, Champion of Nightglow. Mainly cause he can easily interrupt almost any of his big attacks with his ultimate while ignoring the damage.

Because of his great scaling, he can also use a lot of different weapons. The only downside is that there are no weapons for him that deal lightning damage by default. This means you have to either get lucky finding one that has this on it, or get Lightning Grease , which will deal lightning damage. This is needed for this boss since it interrupts his most annoying attack.

Armaments

Best-in-slot

Alternatives

One of the only big negatives for Wylder and most classes is that there are not many weapons that naturally deal Lightning damage. So you need to either find a weapon with it already on it, or suck it up and play without. Do take into account that even if the weapon isn't the greatest, lightning damage really messes up Fulghor, Champion of Nightglow.

Talismans

Best-in-slot

  • Erdtree's Favor
  • Axe Talisman
  • Lightning Scorpion Charm

These complement your playstyle the best, with Axe Talisman being the best of the 2; they can easily carry you into dealing amazing amounts of damage. If you, however, do acquire a lightning damage weapon, the Lightning Scorpion Charm is the best Talisman by far.

Alternatives

  • Warrior Jar Shard
  • Green Turtle Talisman
  • Any Defensive talisman with Physical Resistances.
  • Claw Talisman

Consumables

Best-in-slot

  • Boiled Crab / Boiled Prawn
  • Stonebarb Cracked Tear / Spiked Cracked Tear
  • Pickled Turtle Neck / Exalted Flesh
  • Lightning Pot

Game Plan and Pathing

Day 1

We aim to get level 2 quickly by killing the camp that spawns near your drop location, after which we can go to one of 3 locations: We can either go to a Fort, an Encampment, or a Mineshaft, though I recommend going to the Mineshaft once you reach level 3-4.

We aim to kill a ton of creatures and get enough runes to reach level 8+.

While we cross the map, also keep in mind where the Churches and Scarabs are, for flask charges and a correct Talisman for your build.

Day 2

On Day 2, we want to start looking for either a Field Boss, Castle, or Ruin. We can also have a special event spawn where we want to head off to. If it's the Crater or Noklateo, you want to go there as soon as possible, because they tend to take the whole day. The other 2 can be done later on the day.

We also want to check up on the central castle, if Noklateo didn’t spawn, in case there are Crucible Knights there. If they are prioritizing this at all costs. Crucible Knights are fairly easy to kill, especially if you know how to parry, and they give a ton of runes.

Day 3

With this guide, we are fighting Fulghor, Champion of Nightglow, so next are some tips aimed at him specifically.

The only real danger from his 1st phase comes from his ground stab attack. This is where the lighting damage comes in because it's the ONLY way to interrupt this attack. If he gets this attack off, chaos ensues. A ton of holy pillars will strike from the ground, dealing a lot of damage while Fulghor, Champion of Nightglow chases you down. The rest of his attacks can be rolled pretty easily.

Phase 2 is where he kicks into overdrive, and we need to be careful. He becomes a lot more aggressive and has very wide attacks that can be hard to read, It's better to dodge out of them and run instead of risking being hit by them. The rest of the fight stays the same, as he will still try to do the stab attack from phase 1, which you can interrupt with lightning.

Additional Tips

  • You want to 2-hand almost always, you can try to parry some bosses in the overworld but nightlords cannot be parried unless you play The Executor.
  • Be sure to use Consumables on every day end boss fight, there are plenty to go around, so don't be greedy and keep it until you die.
  • If you dash in a direction and then use your grappling hook without being locked on, you can grapple away something, making undodgable attacks dodgable.
  • Your ultimate makes you immune to damage while charging it, so it can also be used aggressively to ignore an attack while stunning the boss. This can be especially handy against some phase 2 bosses.
