Build Overview

Did Mum tell you that you have Thor at home? She was right.

Hammerfall Amon is, in my opinion, currently Amon's strongest and most optimised Hour of the Hammer mobbing build in UVH5 that I've made so far.

We pull off multiple clever synergies in order to massively optimise the total damage output of this build to clear mobs like no tomorrow. For bossing, we once again welcome our friend Oscar Mike and a swap to the Endless War augment to boost our damage and melt bosses. AND WE DON'T EVEN NEED Dragon's Breath ANYMORE.

This build makes prolific use of a constant loop of throwing your hammers using Hour of the Hammer to prime enemies and create AoE explosions, then following up with a double-edge forgeskill activation to detonate the prime enemies and deal even more splash damage. While doing all this, we're using our Slippy to maintain stacks of There Is Only Red and keep our forge-skill ability ready to pop when needed as we'll be getting boosts to Fists of Stone from our Viking COM. Which also ties in nicely to this build as we get a couple extra charges for our hammers to throw more consistently.

I thought I peaked at SAK and Hellshot with the amount of synergies possible with Amon. I was sorely mistaken. Welcome to Hammerfall Amon. A mass mobbing machine that uses NO CRIT KNIFE AND NO GROUNDBREAKER. Bon appetit.

The Non-Negotiables

Trunk Skills

Calamity Tree:

Discombobulate as the Hour of the Hammer augment deals melee damage, we're picking discombobulate up in order to boost the chance of our hammers critting and dealing extra damage.

Gut Punch - since we're going to be making good use of the Slippy, especially when killing bosses, being able to boost our damage through the extra damage buff from Gut Punch is going to synergise very well with our burst damage capability. We're also going to be spawning a forgedrone from Tempered Pyre that will be doing melee damage to enemies on the field too, proccing weakness on them as well which continues the debuff loop.

Tritanium Knuckles is next up and we pick this as the forge-hammers scale based of both action skill damage AND melee damage, so we pick up this to boost the damage that bit further.

Forged In Steel is next picked and this is because we're going to be spamming our forge-skill (Double - Edge) constantly, so being able to maintain a decent uptime of invulnerability helps with overall surivability,.

The Best Defense - since we're using the Slippy and dealing melee damage through forge-skill and hammer throwing spam, we're able to maintain a strong level of overshield for surivability. As an even more involved synergy, we also make use of the Watts 4 Dinner shield. Since we're maintaining our overshield, this means that we'll be dealing extra shock damage as well which helps to do mare damage to shielded enemies.

Branch 1

Berserk - Source of additional elemental damage

There Is Only Red - further boosts the damage output of Berserk by scaling our cryo damage up exponentially

My Touch Is Death - Once again, using Slippy means we can maintain our stacks of kills skills i.e. There Is Only Red very consistently, and without much additional effort. Also guarantees a damage bonus during boss fights as well if trash mobs arent spawning as frequently as you would like.

We also sink a couple points into Bloodlust for added survivability (as well as to make sure we can get down to My Touch Is Death)

Cybernetics

Gathering Storm - fairly obvious skill to pick up here. Amons damage sauce draws a lot from elemental damage, so we boost this stat where we can.

Destruction Engine - more detonation damage means more AoE mob clearing capability. This build makes a huge focus on detonation and AoE damage so boosting this where we can is critical.

We then have Bellows to give us a boost to our gun damage which in turn will give us added bonus from specialisations as well like Bear Arms and I Am A Gun. And because we're going to be using our forge-skill a lot, we'll be garnering bonuses from those specialisations almost always.

We then round out the skill tree with Blast Furnace - which gives us a bonus to our overall damage dealt after detonation (which we'll be doing a lot off). However you can also sink these points into Raging Inferno if you so choose. The only reason I've avoided doing that for now is because the skill is currently bugged :)

Augment + Capstone:

Mobbing

For mobbing, we use the Hour of the Hammer for obvious reasons. This capstone gives us throwable hammers that do AoE damage, melee damage AND action skill damage, giving us a lot of ways to boost the damage of this through creative skill synergies and specialisation pick ups. There is also NO capstone for this build, because quite frankly - we don't need it.

Bossing

For bossing, we swap Hour of the Hammer for Endless War which now gives us a significant damage boost to our Oscar Mike space laser once we've primed the enemy with 8-10 stacks (which is made possible due to the extra charges of axes we get from our Viking class mod)

Weapons

From a weapons perspective, the only weapon we actually need to fire is the Oscar Mike, and that's only because we make use of the underbarrel for bossing situations (along with an augment swap to Endless War). This build doesn't need weapons for mobbing situations but feel free to use whatever gun you want if you want to change it up and fire a gun instead of throwing hammers at peoples faces.

Repkit

For the repkit, the star here is the Triple Bypass with ideally the Action Skill cooldown roll on it. However the melee bonus damage roll can work nicely here as well, but you might be a victim of cooldown for the forge-hammer throwing (which you can resolve by shooting a gun if you choose and waiting out the timer).

The Triple Bypass works doubly well for this build as since we're spamming our action skill constantly, we can also leverage the Now With Caffeine specialisation, which reduces AS cooldown everytime a repkit is activated. This gives us the ability to constantly loop our action skill and throw hammers almost always - which ties in perfectly for the overall gameplay loop of priming and detonation for mass clearing.

In a bossing situation however, I strongly suggest swapping to ANY repkit provided you have the Amp damage boost roll on it. Reason being is because we need this to boost our space laser damage from the Oscar Mike. No specific repkit is needed for this, the only requirement is that it have the amp damage roll on it.

Ordnance

The ordnance for this build is the Slippy greande. The old reliable. The Slippy gives us extra forgeskill cooldown from Fists of Stone as well as helping us to maintain our stacks of There Is Only Red because we've invested points in My Touch Is Death

Class Mod

For the class mod, we have Viking - which gives us an additional 2 charges to throw which helps for both bossing and mobbing situations alike. Additionally, the Viking can roll with Fists of Stone which is a core part of the build, as it helps to maintain Hour of the Hammer uptime.

From an optimal roll perspective, you want your Viking to have as many points in Fists of Stone as possible, and the rest can be sunk into Bellows.

Shield

As an even more involved synergy, we also make use of the Watts 4 Dinner shield. Since we're maintaining our overshield through The Best Defense, this means that we'll be dealing extra shock damage as well which helps to do more damage to shielded enemies.

Enhancement

From an enhancement perspective, we don't really care what it is. At this point in time, the enhancement is basically a firmware slave, as no firmware perks currently provide bonuses to forge-skills/ Hour of the Hammer itself.

HOWEVER, feel free to use whatever manufacturer enhancement you like that synergises with the weapons you end up shooting with - if you choose to shoot a gun that is.

From a firmware perspective, there's nothing out of the obvious here. we get 2 matches for Reel Big Fist to get us to 40% additional melee damage, and then 3 matches for Action Fist which gives us further Action Skill damage and Melee damage. Still keep in mind that the hammers from Hour of the Hammer deal both action skill and melee damage

From a specialisation perspective, we have the following.

Now With Caffeine gives us on demand additional Action Skill cooldown since we're spamming our repkit as a result of the Triple Bypass unique effect.

Both I Am A Gun and Bear Arms gives us action skill damage and melee damage bonuses respectively and scales off our total gun damage boosts which we will get from either gear passive stats, Bellows AND - conveniently the Bullet Train specialisation. Which gives extra gun damage based on movement speed, which we do a lot off with this build.

Gameplay

1) Activate forgeskill to trigger Berserk

2) Throw Slippy at enemy to star building up stacks of There Is Only Red because we have My Touch Is Death

3) Start throwing hammers at enemies and killing/priming them

4) Detonate the stronger enemies who have been primed already by activating forge-skill

5) Rinse and repeat
