How To Play Briar in Swarm Operation Anima Squad

Briar is one of the newest champions in League of Legends and one of the champions playable in Swarm. Swarm is a PvE Vampire Survivors game and is a part of Riot Game’s Summer Event. Swarm will be out mid-July.

There are a total of 9 champions you can play in Swarm. These include Jinx, Seraphine, Aurora, Illaoi, Leona, Xayah, Yasuo, Riven and Briar. Briar is not a champion that is playable from the get go. You need to complete a mission before you’re able to play her but don’t worry; we will break down how to do it shortly.

In Swarm, Briar has 2 abilities that she will use to defeat the enemies and the bosses. They are somewhat similar to her abilities in normal League of Legends. We’ve been creating a lot of articles for Swarm, and you can check them out on the Mobalytics Blog.

How to Unlock Briar in Swarm

You will naturally unlock Briar by playing the campaign. There isn’t anything you need to do in particular to unlock her. You will unlock Briar by completing the second map, which is called Outskirts. To complete this map, you need to first survive 15 minutes and then defeat the raid boss, who happens to be Briar.

Briar is actually a really good champion and one of the strongest early-game champions. If you’re struggling to clear future maps, why not pick her and give her a go?

Briar Swarm Abilities

In Swarm, there are 3 “spells” for each champion. Each champion starts with their Passive, and at level 3, they unlock their first ability. Once you hit level 6, you will unlock your third ability.

Briar’s Swarm Spells

Briar’s Passive is Survival Instincts. She gains bonus AD and movespeed, depending on her missing health.

Briar Swarm Passive

Briar’s E ability in Swarm is Fish Frenzy / Survival Scream. When activated, she gains damage reduction and rapidly attacks the nearest enemy. You can recast it to end the frenzy early.

For her Ultimate, she kicks her gemstone to a target location and flies towards it.

Augments and Upgrades

Weapons and weapon upgrades should be your go-to for any champion in Swarm. Here are our recommendations for the best weapons for Briar.

Briar’s Weapon. Upgrading your champion’s weapon for extra damage is always a good option.

Ani-Mines. Drops mines as you move around the map.

Anti-Shark Sea Mine. Explosives that bounce between enemies. Good in late game as it can continue bouncing for a while.

Cyclonic Slicers. Deals AOE damage that can also provide you with protection by knocking back enemies.

Statikk Sword. Stattik Sword is one of the best weapons in the game. It deals damage to multiple enemies at once, which helps clear the enemies.

To get these weapon upgrades, you need to get Ability Haste, Area Size, Critical Chance, Damage, Health Regeneration, and Maximum Health.

Briar Swarm Tips and Tricks

Briar is a really simple player, and she is one of the few champions who have a get-out-of-jail-free card. In sticky situations, you can use your Ultimate to reposition and escape damage. I personally used this technique to help me survive the last few moments in order to reach the 15-minute mark.

When facing bosses, you can just run towards them and press E. Briar can take them pretty easily and quickly. But I would think twice before using your E, as it can often lead you into sticky situations. Be prepared to cancel it early if needed.

Post 6, you can force mini-bosses to group together, and once they’re on top of one another, you can press R and kill both of them at the same time. This is really good for you as you’ll get 2 upgrades simultaneously.

Try to kill the objectives that drop cards ASAP. This will help you get additional bonuses and also make it easier for you to last longer in the long run.

In Conclusion

Briar is a pretty strong champion in Swarm, and as someone who has played a lot of games on this game mode, she is one of the more “AFK-able” champions you can play. What do you think of Briar? Let us know below.
