Feral Druid Guide - Talents, Rotations, Races & More

Overview

Welcome to the WoW Feral Balance Druid Guide. This guide shows you the recommended talents for your journey to level 30 in the Classic Forever Beta, as well as our expected level 60 build. The Feral Druid is a melee focused spec that can tank in Bear Form and do solid dps in Cat Form. You unlock Bear Form at level 10 and Cat Form at level 20. This means you'll play the first 10 levels swinging your weapon and using Wrath & Moonfire to take down enemies. The Druid in general is a great choice for WoW Forever and their planned horizontal progression. Staying at level 60 means you can play this 1 class for a long time and be able to swap between Balance, Feral and Restoration to fill any roll in the game.

You can check out what all changed in our Druid Overview Guide Here.

This is a work in progress and will be updated with complete information during the BETA and launch of WoW Forever. The final guide will cover the following: BIS equipment, Talent Trees, Rotations, Professions and more.

Follow this Talent Tree if you plan to stay in Bear Form during most of your play thorugh. This is great if you play on playing in groups and doing dungeons. You'll have to play as a Beat until you're 20 and can finally learn Cat Form. You can either follow this tree until you're level 20 then respec to play cat or just follow the cat tree to save the 1 Gold once you get there. They're pretty similar but this tree picks up Feral Instinct and Feral Charge to help on your journey from 10-20 quite a bit.

  1. Start off with 5 points in Ferocity.
  2. Put 2 points in Feral Swiftness and 3 points in Feral Instinct.
  3. Pick up Feral Charge, 2 points in Savage Fury & 2 points in Sharpened Claws.
  4. Get Mangle, 3 points in Predatory Strikes and 1 point in Heart of the Wild.
  5. Finally pick up Leader of the Pack to get the 3% crit for you and your party.

Playable Races

Playable Races

Alliance - Night Elf & Skyborne

Horde - Tauren & Skyborne

Recommended Races

Night Elf has their new active ability Elune's Light which grants 10% Critical Chance for 15 Seconds. Quickness is also beneficial, granting you 1% increased Dodge and 2% increased run speed.

Tauren comes with War Stomp, stunning nearby enemies for 2 seconds and Endurance which increases your total health by 5% and grants 1% increased Chance to hit. They also get Cultivation which gives you extra herbs!

See our full racial abilities guide for every other race's bonuses.

Gameplay

Level 1-10

If you have some silver lying around you can go to the Auction House and buy a solid Green weapon when you get to around level 8. This can take your auto attack damage from 2 DPS to 6+. This will drastically help you out if you have gold lying around from leveling a different character. If you go Tauren you can learn Two-Handed Maces in Thunderbluff as well opening up your Auction House options even more. If it's your first character just use the grey staff they give you and do all the quests until you get an upgrade.

The primary Skills you’ll use are Wrath, Moonfire, Thorns and Auto Attack. Make sure you always ahve Thorns and Mark of the Wild active!

Do not just stand there and spam Wrath!

  1. Open on an enemy with Wrath followed by an immediate Moonfire. If you have time, hit them with a 2nd Wrath before they get to you.
  2. Hit them with an auto attack, then hit them with another Moonfire once your swing connects
  3. Hit them with another Auto Attack and follow it up with Moonfire.
  4. Steps 2/3 are the rotation. You start with some damage to pull them onto you, then you repeat Auto Attacks and Moonfire until they're dead.
  5. This is by far the most effective way to level from 1-10. You'll see a lot of people just spamming Wrath don't be one of those people.

Level 10-30

If you want to go Bear Form as soon as you hit level 10 this is the rotation for Bear.

  1. Open on enemies with Moonfire then swap to Bear Form.
  2. Use Maul on cooldown for extra damage and keep swinging.
  3. Once you acquire Primal Bite, use that as well in your melee rotation.
  4. Heal yourself between pulls. It's also great to toss yourself a Rejuvenation before you Moonfire and swap into Bear Form. This allows you to spend more time just chain pulling as a bear before needing to come out and heal again.

Tanking

  • If you're ever fighting multiple enemies at once (like when tanking dungeons) use Swipe to hit 3 targets at once.
  • Use Demoralizing Roar so you can take less damage.
  • You can also cast Enrage when you start a pull to open with some Rage and a Swipe and increase your threat on pull.
  • Growl is your taunt ability, if someone pulls an enemy off you use it to bring them back.
  • Get Faerie Fire up on bigger enemies and especially bosses.

Remember you have a lot of great utility as a Druid as well. You can use Entangling Roots to root an enemy that is coming for you or another helpless ally. You can put Faerie Fire up on bosses to help your melee gain a huge damage boost against them. You can remove Poisons and Curses form your allies with Abolish Poison and Remove Curse. There's Thorns that you can put on your tank and Hibernate to put a beast or dragon to sleep. A druids tool kit for utility really is incredible.

Things to Remember

Visit your Class Trainer often to get your new skills, levels 10 & 20 specifically have some incredible new abilities and upgrades to your current ones. Every time you hit an even level go visit them to see what's available level 4, 6, 8, 10, etc.

Keep up your Mark of the Wild on your allies at all times, if someone dies don't forget to reapply it to them.

You'll need the reagent "Stranglethorn Seeds" to cast Rebirth, make sure you always have some on hand.

Druids get Faerie Fire now by default in WoW Forever which is an incredible debuff to put up on bosses, they can root enemies with Entangling Roots, Remove Curse and Abolish Poison. They provide a great buff to the group with Mark of the Wild and can can even resurrect an ally mid combat with Rebirth.

Stat Priority

A Druid's Favorite Stats are Strength, Agility & Stamina. Strength increases your Attack Power by 2 points for every 1 Strength. Agility gives you Crit, Dodge and Armor which are essential for tanking as a Druid. In Cat Form Agility will also give you 1 Attack Power for very point of Agility. Stamina is especially important if you play on playing in Bear Form and tanking Dungeons & Raids.

Group Play & Dungeons

Remember to get your Faerie Fire up on bosses and if things are looking grim don't hesitate to toss a Regrowth, Rejuvenation or Healing Touch on allies to keep your party in the game. Be careful leaving Bear Form though, you'll take quite a bit of damage when you do.

Remember to buff your party with Mark of the Wild.

Tips

Heal yourself between pulls. Don't let that entire mana bar go to waste. Toss yourself a Rejuvenation at least before you get back into the action.

Remove Curse and Abolish Poison are your friend, use them!
