Overview

How to Play Meeple — TFT Set 17: Space Gods

The astronauts are here with the Meeple trait! Bard brings in the whole crew and his signature Meeps to create empowered Astronaut abilities. This is a large vertical trait and will likely be a favorite of a lot of players. This also makes it a fast 8 or fast 9 composition as the composition wants to play 7 Meeple units.

The carries of the composition are likely Corki as well as Bard himself. Bard’s saucer has a chance of abducting 1-star copy of units which makes him not only a threat as a Legendary unit, but also a great economy option. We have had units that act similarly in the past such as Morgana in Set 12.

With 7 Meeple, you also get a cloning spot on your bench which allows you to more easily 2 star or even 3 star units in your composition to round it out or to cap out to finish the game win.

How TFT Meeple Works

Meeple Trait Bonus

meeple trait

Champions: Poppy 1g / Veigar 1g / Gnar 2g / Meepsie 2g / Fizz 3g / Corki 4g / Rammus 4g / Bard 5g

Astronauts attract Meeps that empower Astronaut abilities in meepy ways. They also gain bonus Health.

  • (3) 2%, 125 Health
  • (5) 3%, 250 Health
  • (7) 4%, 400 Health. Create a Cloning Slot on your bench. Gain gold and a 1-star copy of the champion placed there when cloning completes.
  • (10) 6%, 1000 Health. SUMMON THE FOUR MEEPLORDS!

Cloning time = Champion cost

Meeple Champions and Synergy

Meeple have a lot of options for trait webs including a natural synergy of Bastions. This is a large, vertical trait, so there are plenty of options:

  • Poppy (1G) - Bastion
  • Veigar (1G) - Replicator
  • Meepsie (2G) - Shepherd + Voyager
  • Gnar (2G) - Sniper
  • Fizz (3G) - Rogue
  • Corki (4G) - Fateweaver
  • Rammus 4G) - Bastion
  • Bard (5G) - Channeler

TFT Meeple Champions

Poppy (1G) - Bastion

Poppy’s ability: Huddle Up! Gives her (AP) shield for a duration of seconds. For the duration, allies within two hexes gain (AP) armor and magic resistances.

Her Meep Bonus is Meeps grant Meep Shield (AP) to the nearest allies for a number of seconds. This makes Poppy an early game tank where she also pairs well with Rammus who is also a Bastion.

Veigar (1G) - Replicator

tft set 17 veigar

[Link to Champion Page]

Veigar has one of the best named abilities: Meepteor Shower. Veigar calls down a Meepteor on the target that deals (AP) magic damage. With his Meep Bonus, additional minimeeps are called down on nearby targets dealing (AP) magic damage each.

Meepsie (2G) - Shepherd + Voyager

tft set 17 meepsie

[Link to Champion Page]

Meepsie has the ability of Meep Impact where Meepsie heals for (Health & AP) health over a duration of seconds. Meepsie then slams the target, dealing (AP) magic damage and knocking up for a number of seconds.

The impact creates meepwaves that deal a percent of these effects in the target’s row. The Meep Bonus is: Meeps water Meepsie’s flower, which increases all incoming healing and shielding.

Gnar (2G) - Sniper

tft set 17 gnar

[Link to Champion Page]

Gnar has the passive ability Slingshot Maneuver. For his passive, every 5th attack, Gnar launches a returning boomerang at the target that travels two hexes past the first enemy it hits.

It deals (AD & AP) physical damage, reduced by damage reduction percent per hit. The Meep Bonus is Meeps attack alongside Gnar, dealing (AD & AS) physical damage per second.

Fizz (3G) - Rogue

tft set 17 fizz

[Link to Champion Page]

Fizz is a Rogue with the ability Meep Bait. He dashes through the current target, dealing (AP) magic damage. Every third cast, he summons a Mega Meep after a delay, briefly knocking the target up and dealing (AP) magic damage in a one-hex radius, reduced by fall off damage per hex from the center.

Corki (4G) - Fateweaver

tft set 17 corki

[Link to Champion Page]

Corki is a Fateweaver with the ability Asteroid Blaster. Corki strafes to a nearby position, unleashing missiles split between the target and all enemies within two hexes. The missiles deal (AD) physical damage with a chance of firing a mega missile that deals additional (AD) instead.

With the Meep Bonus, every meep gives a cooldown which launches an Explosive Meep at the target, dealing (AD) physical damage in a one hex radius on impact. With the Fateweaver luck bonus, it checks twice and takes the better outcome.

Rammus 4G) - Bastion

tft set 17 rammus

[Link to Champion Page]

Rammus is a tank with the Bastion trait. His ability Gravitational Spin gives him (AP) shield for a duration of seconds. Then, he strikes the most enemies in a three hex line, dealing (AP & Armor) magic damage.

The Meep Bonus reduces the damage of incoming attacks by flat damage reduction. After being attacked a number of times, he deals passive magic damage based on armor in a two hex radius.

Bard (5G) - Channeler

tft set 17 bard

[Link to Champion Page]

Bard is a Channeler who benefits from mana regeneration. He has the ability Ultra Friendly Object. With this ability, he summons a flying saucer over the current target that lasts for anumber of seconds. Each second it deals (AP) magic damage per a second to the target plus split damage per a second (AP) magic damage between all enemies within a determined hex range.

The saucer deals increased damage to tanks. If the enemy under the UFO dies, Bard has a chance of abducting them to create a 1-star copy of the unit on your bench. The Meep bonus gives Bard on combat start, granting the nearest Astronaut allies an additional Meep.

How to Play Meeple

Due to the strength of the 7 Meeple giving you 1-star copies of a unit of your choice after the rounds needed to complete it - this makes getting to 7 Meeple very strong. This also means that it likely is not going to be a low cost reroll composition due to the strength of having 7 Meeple.

There is also only one 3-cost unit, so I would be surprised if it were to be a 3-cost reroll at level 7 either. This composition will likely be what is known as a fast 8 or 9 composition where players will level to 8 at 4-2 and roll down to try and find Bard as well as 7 Meeple and go from there.

This means that the composition will likely rely on carrying an AP carry in the mid game and then throwing the items on Bard once you find him - similar to how Morgana worked in Set 12. However, it is possible that Bard does not have the damage needed to stabilize the composition and instead AD carry Corki might be the way instead.
