Build Overview

This Build is a Leveling and Endgame Setup for the Monk using Ice Strike and Storm Wave together with Hollow Palm Technique to make this especially suitable as a League Starter due to its smooth Campaign Leveling Experience and easy transition into a very well functioning Mapper.

Hollow Palm Technique eleviates the need for a Weapon, which makes this Build very easy and inexpensive to itemize, both in Campaign as well as the Endgame.

Our main Damage Source for clearing will be Storm Wave while Ice Strike will both freeze and Damage Bosses until we use Tempest Flurry to apply high magnitude Shocks.

Included in this Build Guide are a Leveling Setup to use during the Campaign and the actual Endgame Setup that you will take all the way into Tier 15 Maps.

If you have any Questions or Suggestions about the Build, feel free to tune into my Stream at twitch.tv/DEADRABB1T where I stream every day!

I am always happy to answer any questions that may arise!

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • Strong and Simple League Starter
  • Easy to Play

Build Variants

This Setup will get you through Act 1 and the beginning of Act 2 up to Level 22, which is when we get Storm Wave. Before that we are using Glacial Cascade, Frozen Locus and Ice Strike.

For Gear we are prioritizing getting a good Quarterstaff until we can take Hollow Palm Technique and Maximum Life, Energy Shield and Evasion Rating as well as Resistances.

Equipment Priority

Since we can't use Hollow Palm Technique up until we have enough Passive Points, we are using a Quarterstaff until then.

Stat Priority during Act 1:

  • Melee Skills on QStaff
  • Flat Damage on QStaff, Rings and Gloves
  • Maximum Life
  • Cold Resistances
  • other Resistances
  • Attack Speed

Check Vendors as often as you can to look for a good Quarterstaff, Movement Speed for Boots or any other Upgrades you can get (High ES/EV Gear, Resistances, Maximum Life)

RegEx: "(fi|co|li).+res|nt speed|adds|d phys|\d.+life"

Once you have Hollow Palm Technique, remember to primarily focus on Evasion and Energy Shield Gear as it is going to be the best way to scale our Damage throughout the Campaign apart from flat Damage on our Gloves and Rings.

During Act 1 our main Clear and Single Target Skill is Glacial Cascade.

Once you have Frozen Locus start using it by dropping it inside of the Monster Groups and Destroy the Ice Crystal with Glacial Cascade to trigger big Ice Explosions, especially important once you get Herald of Ice.

On Bosses, make sure to always have Frost Bomb active to apply Cold Exposure.

Before you have Ice Strike, we also use Glacial Cascade on Bosses by keeping our Distance and making sure the Tip of the Cascade is hitting the Boss for maximum Damage output.
