Delirium Guide - Path of Exile 2

Updated on Jul 8, 2026

Overview

Delirium is a league mechanic that you will encounter in Waystones that offers some exciting rewards at the cost of a deadly challenge.

Completing Delirium Encounters will grant players Liquid Emotions which can be used to add powerful Enchantments to Waystones and Amulets, and also Simulacrum Splinters which will grant players access to the Simulacrum Encounter

Guide

Delirium can be initiated in Waystones in one of two ways: through a Delirium Mirror, or by using Liquid Emotions on a Waystone. This guide will cover both of these methods

Delirium Mirrors

Some Waystones will be affected by a Delirium Encounter which you can see on the Atlas

At the start of these Waystones, you will encounter a Delirium Mirror. Running through the centre of this Mirror will cause a temporary grey fog to spread out across the map you are in. While in this fog, existing monsters will deal more damage and take less damage, and players will also be attacked by Delirium monsters.

Delirium Mirror

The Delirium encounter needs to be thought of as a slow-moving, large area of fog that travels throughout the area the player is in. It is possible to travel deeper into this fog by running further into it, but standing still or taking too long to defeat enemies will cause the wave of fog to pass by and end the Delirium encounter.

An image of how the map appears before and after stepping through the Delirium Mirror. The left shows the before and the right shows the grey fog and monsters that cover the Map after stepping through the Mirror.

As players travel deeper into the Delirium fog, monsters will deal more damage, take less damage, gain new abilities, but also drop better loot. You may also encounter special Unique Delirium bosses that will drop a large stack of Simulacrum Splinters when slain.

Fracturing Mirrors

Players will also find reflective pools on the ground known as Fracturing Mirrors that will spawn packs of Delirium monsters as players approach.

Fracturing Mirror

There are different types of Fracturing Mirrors that can spawn known as Fracturing Mirror Shards that may add additional challenge and reward, such as adding Liquid Emotions to monsters, or summoning a Mirrored boss

  • Escalation Shards: may add modifiers to rare Delirium monsters, summon more difficult and rewarding monsters, or pause the Fog
  • Deceptive Shards: summon Delirium bosses or lead to an extra Delirious area (the Loathsome Mire - discussed later)
  • Capricious Shards: once unlocked, these either summon a mirrored Map Boss or cause Map Bosses to manifest Grand Mirrors

Delirium Encounter Types

There are two types of Delirium encounters that players will find in Maps:

  • Delirium Mirrors, which spread Fog across the Map along with a timer that will run out if players don't stay within the Fog and Grand Mirrors

Grand Mirrors

Occasionally, players will complete a Map and get a popup that a Grand Mirror has been revealed. This happens after players find a special Capricious Shard in their Maps

Players will now be able to see a nearby map on their Atlas with a Grand Mirror on it

A Grand Mirror Map contains Delirium and a duplicated Map boss. After completing the Map, players will be allowed to place a pocket of Delirium on the Atlas that spreads across several Maps in the area.

These Maps start out at 10% Delirious Effect (discussed later), and completing Delirium Maps in the area surrounded by Fog will cause the Delirious Effect to increase up to a maximum of 200%. Once the fog reaches 100% Deliriousness, one of the remaining Maps will be transformed into a Simulacrum

Finding More Grand Mirrors

It seems like the current best way to find more Grand Mirrors is to rush to the boss and defeat it and hope for the Grand Mirror Revealed popup. A personal anecdote that requires more testing: using Tablets with "Delirium Fog in Map spawns (12—26)% increased MirrorShards" and/or "Delirium Fog in Map spawns (15—30)% increased Fracturing Mirrors" seems to trigger this more often

Delirium Progress Tracker

While in Delirium encounters, players will have a Progress Bar that shows their location in relation to the Fog and how deep into it they are.

In regular Delirium Mirror Maps, this will show as a bar that shows the player progress as a gold star along with any Fracturing Mirrors that can still be found within the Delirium encounter. Don't fall too far behind or the Delirium encounter will end!

In Maps covered by Grand Delirium fog, the progress bar shows the Deliriousness percentage of the current fog covering the Atlas overworld - this number will increase as you progress and also increase the Delirious Effect being applied to all Maps in the area

The different shapes along the bar represent Fracturing Mirrors that can be found within the encounter. Any of these that is greyed out means that it has been undiscovered, and after completion, it will gain colour to indicate that it has been located.

What is Delirious Effect in PoE 2?

Delirious Effect increases the difficulty and reward of monsters in that area. The higher the effect of Delirious on players, the stronger and more of the following effects will occur:

  • Delirious players will be attacked by illusions
  • Monsters deal more damage
  • Monsters have additional Toughness, causing them to take less damage
  • Additional monsters will appear
  • Monsters may be granted additional modifiers
  • Monster item drops are improved

Overall, adding Delirium to your maps with Liquid Emotions will make them much more difficult, so be careful not to overdo it initially with too many high-level Liquid Emotions such as Liquid Isolation. An increase of player Deliriousness will improve your drops, but could result in you failing your Map.

Delirium Timer

Delirium encounters started by Delirium Mirrors are only temporary, forcing players to move with the Fog to prevent the encounter from ending. However, the timer will be temporarily paused when engaging with other league mechanics such as Strongboxes, Breach, and Expedition. Also, if you choose to leave the Waystone to Trade or refill your flasks, the timer will be paused.

The timer is invisible, except when the Delirium Encounter is almost complete, or the player moves too far out of the Delirium fog. When this happens, a timer will show a countdown of 5 seconds during which a player will need to move deeper into the fog to continue the encounter.

Ending Delirium Early

Players can also end the Delirium Encounter at any time by clicking the End Delirium fast-forward button to the left of their Mana Orb.

It is important to click this at the end of Maps to acquire the Simulacrum Splinters that you have acquired along the way! After defeating the Map Boss, push this, receive loot.

What Are Liquid Emotions Used For?

Liquid Emotions are found as rewards in Delirium encounters and can be used to Instil Notable Passives onto Amulets. This means that players can allocate a single Notable Passive Point, from almost anywhere on the Tree, without having to allocate the physical points usually required to do so. For example, a Ranger could allocate something like Sharpened Claw on the other side of the Passive Tree without having to use dozens of points to reach it.

You can head to The Withered Willow in the Endgame Atlas to Instil your amulet at the Decanter of Madness

Jewel Crafting

Instilled Emotions can also be used for crafting Jewels. Each of these removes a modifier from a Rare Jewel or Time-Lost Jewel and adds a new guaranteed modifier. You can read a full list of these modifiers in our Distilled Emotions Guide

Delirium Atlas Tree

Acquiring Delirium Atlas Points

Delirium Atlas Passive Points can be acquired by traveling to The Withered Willow in the Endgame Atlas and completing Maps affected by Delirium in that area. As you progress the Delirium questline, you will also begin to encounter Pinnacle content and bosses that will unlock even more Points on your Delirium Atlas Tree. Make sure to keep Quest-Tracking on in your Settings if you're not sure what to do next!

Delirium Passive Points

  • Get out of my head!
  • The mirrors... the mirrors!
  • I'm not alone anymore!
  • I see your true nature now!
  • Is that the best you've got?!
  • Come on! Face me!
  • You can't scare me anymore!
  • Are you sure you want to do that?
  • You can't just wake up from this one.
  • There's nowhere to hide...
  • I know your childhood fears...
  • These demons are all your own...
  • You thought you were free?
  • Is this about me... or you?
  • Recurring Nightmares

How to Find More Delirium Encounters

Delirium Tablets

You can apply Delirium to your Maps by using Delirium Precursor Tablets alongside your Waystones. Delirium Tablets can be stacked together to further improve the rewards from Delirium, but doing so reduces the chance that you'll find Delirium Tablets in your Maps, and using three Delirium Tablets will prevent all other major Encounters from appearing (such as Expedition, Breach, Abyss and Ritual)

The full list of modifiers that Delirium Tablets can be found on poe2db Delirium Tablet Modifiers

Unique Delirium Tablets

There is also a Unique Delirium Precursor Tablet that can be used on Towers known as Clear Skies.

This Tablet will cause all Maps in Range to cause the Delirium Fog created by Delirium Mirrors to never dissipate, meaning you won't be under the same time pressure that you would from an ordinary Delirium Encounter. This is similar to using Liquid Emotions on your Waystones, but the difference is that you will still have the Reward Counter at the bottom that fills as you slay monsters, allowing you to find Liquid Emotions in your permanent-Delirium Waystones
