TLDR - Warbringer buffed, pure fire Warbringer is my starter (refer to changelog)!

Overview

Hey guys, back with my second Warrior build guide - this time for the Warbringer Ascendancy.

POB - https://pobb.in/yKeb6tpqWtnu

A bit more updated ^^^^

Why Warbringer instead of Titan?

The Titan is an incredibly powerful ascendancy. So powerful that by strictly looking at the numbers, Titan might just be by default better than Warbringer mainly in part to Hulking Form .

Path of Exile 2 (and 1) are more than just numbers though. Unlike the Titan that just give you "more" of what you already get...the Warbringer instead completely changes the game and how you play it!

How though?

Warbringer has some incredible nodes - for my build we'll utilize Warcaller's Bellow and Greatwolf's Howl first. These two Warbringer nodes are absolutely incredible and game breaking! Not only do they remove the cooldowns on warcries, they also provide incredible map clear by exploding corpses for 25% which is just an incredible number.

Most corpse explosion modifiers never get this high! Not only that but now EVERY attack will be "Empowered" giving us massive benefits to our attacks.

Anvil's Weight now allows us to free up a support gem to passively break armour as well. This will give you a 7 link late game and in the early game, you'll be able to power spike much faster do to only needed a 4 link to clear effectively.

Finally, Renly's Training makes maxing out block a very easy endeavor.

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • Amazing single target
  • Good clear.
  • Visually satisfying
  • Very low barrier to entry - low gear requirement
  • Easy block Investment
  • Unique playstyle compared to Titan
  • Slow build overall, needs heavy attack speed investment
  • Even though tanky, still not as tanky as ES build in general
  • Giant's blood needs heavy STR investment, hard to do in SSF
  • Not as Tanky as Titan

Earthshatter -

Earthshatter is probably the best slam skill for Warriors without a cooldown. All of a sudden, as a Warbringer we break the "limit" of - we no longer care about overlapping spikes. We always have warcries available to explode spikes and we ALWAYS empower our atacks making the easy slam skill of choice.

I don't use Mace Strike . I just use Raise Shield on my left click instead to guarantee block when needed.

Passive Tree

main:
123
123
set 1:
20
20
set 2:

20

I've designed the tree to be as accessible as possible. You have 17 free points to use as you please, this will allow you to further specialize your build. If you want to get block and spec into Renly's Training you can do that.

If you want to push towards more overall attributes with Polymathy you can do that as well.

I've also tested out grabbing some endurance charge nodes on the tree to get a passive 60% increased armour while mapping. Besides that, not too much benefit besides not having to use your warcries as much, since they consume endurance charges.

How it Plays

Combat

Run around, spam your warcries at an incredible 0.22 speed. Always warcry to empower your attacks and explode spikes, its a spammy playstyle.

With quality changes to Warcries in 0.2, I'm no longer playing the spammy warcry playstyle. Instead we still use warcries a good amount, we just aren't spamming them 5 times a second.

You can just casually warcry every two attacks or so.

Boss Strategy

Use Infernal Cry to generate Rage. Seismic Cry to consume Rage then Infernal Cry again to max out your rage. Only need to do this for Pinnacle Bosses.

Spamming warcries enables Deafening Cries / Escalation to give up to a 140% to 180% increased damage multiplier for big bursts with Earthshatter or Hammer of the Gods - which works really well with getting big bleeds as well.

Now, just worry about warcrying every two attacks to ensure you empower everything and explode spikes constantly.

For you big Hammer of the Gods - as soon as you break the enemies armour, have max rage and combo Infernal Cry Seismic Cry as I stated above unleash the HAMMER and enjoy massive hit damage along with a nice bleed as well. Continue Earthshatter in between.

How it Works

How to use Earthshatter?

Earthshatter has two "hit" portions. The initial hit and the "explosion" of the spikes that get sent out. WIth Upheaval, three spikes get sent out.

Unlike POE 1, the spikes now deal incredible damage, featuring much higher damage scaling compared to the initial hit.

The spikes "center" on your cursor. Then two spikes will travel in opposite directions from the left and right of that "center" spike.

Mouse your cursor over the primary target - this will allow all THREE spikes to hit the target, massively increasing your damage. For general clearing you don't need to worry about this, but for bossing try to do this.

Changelog

Unlike titan, warbringer got massive buffs in 0.3. Ascendancy buffs are huge, with buffs to Encase in Jade as well as combining warcry nodes Greatwolf's Howl. Block will still be good as well.

A pure totem warbringer should be AWESOME as well. With the changes to shockwave totem scaling with weapon, I might explore that as well at some point.

I will be starting a warcry focused slammer, feating volanic fissure with the new hammer throw slam. I am now a father! So my guide will come a little slow but I will get here eventually!
