Overview

Shinku's best team is built around her ability to gain buffs and deal additional damage instances on each hit of the Charge reaction. In addition, Charge shares its energy regeneration with the entire team, not only the active character.

This team requires the most valuable support, Zero, who is shared with every team on upper half of the Esper Cycle. So you can only build one of the three: Shinku's team, Chaos Charge Team, or Chiz Hyper Team.

The best Lakshana support for Shinku is Hathor, and the best in Anima slot is Nanally, due to her her passive More Than Passionate enabling Shinku to stack her own passive twice as fast.

Shinku's BiS Arc: Blushing Mirage

This team combines three elements:

  • Cosmos: Zero, Shinku
  • Anima: Nanally
  • Lakshana: Hathor

Beware: Zero is irreplaceable in this team without losing some serious DPS, as no other character enable fast reactions like Zero.

Nanally is DPS gain, but any free Anima such as Mint or Jiuyuan would do fine. While Hathor is also best-in-slot, you can get away using Skia. This different from Chaos's team which must have Hathor.

The best character to hold the Speedy Hedgehog (S) support Module is Zero, for a team-wide ATK buff, and faster Ultimate energy regeneration.

The rest of the team uses DPS Arcs and Modules relative to their element. With no focus on secondary DPS, Shinku wants almost all of the field time, and the rest of the team can do their job by swapping in, using Ultimate and skill and swap out.

How to Play

Overall Concept

You need to give Shinku constant field time, since she loses her Ultimate once swapped out, so we must build around this restriction. At the same time, you want the Charge reaction to keep going.

With Shinku's very long rotation of 15-second+, she builds her own Esper Meter, so she can trigger one reaction - either Remora and Blossom. Other reaction should be instant with Zero, to not waste much time on allies rotation.

Instant Esper Meter Refill

Zero’s skill grants 100 Cycle Energy upon use, which fills Zero’s Esper Meter in one go. You're better off saving this to use after other allies rotation, and after triggering Remora with Shinku. Since Remora lasts 12 seconds with Hathor, and Blossom lasts 10 seconds duration.

The goal is to maximize Charge uptime while Shinku is back on-field.

Natural Esper Meter Refill

By the time Shinku completes her long rotation, her Esper Meter shall be full. Don't swap directly from Shinku to Anima or Lakshana. Instead swap to Zero (a Cosmos character) to delay the reactions until allies' rotations are finished and you're ready to bring Shinku back on-field.

Both Anima and Lakshana characters will rarely fill their Esper Meter, so we don't count on them in the rotation. But if they happen to fill it, you get a bonus reaction (preferably extra Blossom for more DPS)

Ultimate Energy Gain

Shinku doesn't gain regular Ultimate energy, instead she builds up "Defiant Spirit" energy through her normal attacks, charged attacks, dodge counters, and triggering Menacing Gaze.

The easiest way to fill her Ultimate energy is by not attacking, dodging enemy attacks, and delaying counters until Menacing Gaze stacks are full. Then unleash a dodge counter or a skill with a full stack of Menacing Gaze. From there, spam dodge counters and skills until Ultimate is ready.

Against aggressive enemies, this can be done very quickly and Shinku reach her Rampage/Ultimate in no time.

Allies' Ultimates will also be ready quickly, thanks to Shinku enabling Charge to be shared with the entire team.

Maximizing DPS of Shinku Passive

Her passive "Lone Strider" requires Shinku to be the the active character during the Charge state. So we need to trigger Remora, then Blossom, then quickly swap to Shinku.

Each Charge trigger increases her ATK by 5% (up to 10 stacks), and she follows up with an AoE attack that scales with Shinku basic attack level.

By default, Blossom buds lasts for 10 seconds, and shoots every 2 seconds, for a total of 5 stacks and AoE triggers. With Nanally's passive, the trigger frequency is doubled, for a total of 10 stacks and triggers.

Maximizing Menacing Gaze burst

Menacing Gaze is a character trait exclusive to Shinku, enabling her to build stacks passively by being in combat and not attacking. By default, she needs 2 seconds of not attacking to start building stacks, then 8 seconds to get full 8 stacks. This takes a total of 10 seconds.

Against aggressive enemies, Shinku can spam dodges without counters, building an extra stack with every dodge for a faster buildup.

The next attack she performs will trigger Menacing Gaze for a massive burst that scales with the number of stacks and Normal Attack level. It also grants Cycle Intensity, and either Defiant Spirit or Fading Reason depending on whether Shinku is in Rampage or normal mode.

Not attacking might sound counter-productive, until you realize she ca build it start of the fight before approaching the boss or initiating the timer. Can also be built while the boss initiate their stalling mechanic (by flying away, diving underground, being invulnerable, or unleashing several hit combos).

Rotation Guide (Beyond the Rails)

At the beginning of combat in Beyond the Rails mode, all characters start with:

  • Empty Esper Meter
  • Fully charged Ultimate

That means you start rotation with Ultimate ready, but in the second rotation, it’s a bit harder to fill Ultimate energy. Shinku is the only character who resolves a good portion of this issue, by sharing energy regeneration from Charge with the entire team. For reactions on the other hand, you need some planning to trigger them in first rotation, but it gets easier afterwards.

The rotations are hard to execute perfectly, because of bosses’ extreme aggression in endgame, which forces players to dodge constantly. So consider the rotation guide as a general guideline, not set in stone, and prioritize dodging with Shinku when possible.

First Rotation

  • Before approaching the enemy, use any attack with Shinku then wait 8 seconds to build full Menacing Gaze stacks.
  • Move towards enemy and use Shinku's skill to open with strong Menacing Gaze burst.
  • Swap to Zero and use their skill to fill Esper Meter.
  • Save the reaction by swapping to Shinku instead of Lakshana or Anima characters.
  • Immediately swap to Nanally (or any Anima character you're using) and use her Ultimate and skill
  • Swap to Hathor and use her full rotation (hold skill → Ultimate → 3x skill)
  • Swap back to Zero. Their Esper meter is still full and reaction is ready.
  • Swap to Hathor to trigger Remora
  • Swap to Zero and use Ultimate then skill to refill Esper Meter
  • Swap to Nanally to trigger Blossom and start 10-second Charge state
  • Now it's time to unleash Shinku's 13-second full rotation. Swap to her and use skill then Ultimate.
  • In this state, keep spamming normal attacks and dodge counters until her skill button flashes bright. (Dodge counters hasten the enhanced skill energy gain)
  • Use her skill when available. With optimal play this could repeat three times.
  • Her Ultimate will flash bright if you've used three skills, or automatically near the end of the 13-second Rampage. Spam it.
  • The final Ultimate use will be a strong finisher.

This concludes the first rotation, which takes around 30 seconds or more since we needed some time to build two Esper Meters. Now the Esper Meter of Shinku is full, and makes our life easier for next rotation.

Note that we don't use Nanally own rotation because she's playing support not main DPS, and Shinku's own DPS takes priority.

Second Rotation & Beyond

We carefully delay reactions until the end of preparation phase to sync the full Charge duration with Shinku on-field.

  • Swap from Shinku to Zero instead of Anima or Lakshana characters to preserve Esper Meter.
  • Don't use Zero's skill yet. Swap to Nanally and use her skill and Ultimate (if ready).
  • Swap to Hathor and use press skill → Ultimate (if ready) → skill (short version).

If Shinku's Ultimate is ready, trigger the reaction then unleash her Ultimate. If not, farm energy with dodges, Menacing Gaze bursts, and dodge counters until her Ultimate is full, then proceed with reactions."

  • Swap to Shinku and back to Hathor to trigger Remora.
    • If Hathor's Esper Meter is full, swap from Hathor to Shinku for Remora, then from Shinku to Nanally for Blossom.
  • Swap to Zero and use Ultimate then skill.
  • Swap to Nanally for Blossom.
  • Replicate the Shinku sequence from the first rotation.

Additional Notes

Note that the whole rotation changes dramatically with Awakenings, since some alter how Menacing Gaze works. With A3 enabling Menacing Gaze stacks to build while off-field, Shinku requires less time on-field outside of her Rampage. In return, the other DPS characters in the team can perform more of their rotation.

With A3 + A4 combined, Shinku can switched entirely to an off-field burst character, enabling another playstyle this guide doesn't cover. On other hand, pure DPS increase Awakening such as A1, A2, and A6 doesn't alter her playstyle or rotation.

With 10 ticks of every Blossom bud, it's justified to still build full Cycle Intensity on Zero for a decent DPS increase from Blossom. That's why we prefer switching from Zero to Nanally with Esper Meter full, to take Zero's CI into Blossom damage calculation.

In case of using Skia, the rotation changes drastically, since Skia can refresh Remora duration with his debuff. On the other hand, Remora duration is limited to 5 seconds.

So you need to trigger Remora right after Shinku exits her Rampage, then use Skia more often to refresh Remora and keep charging the team's Ultimate energy, up until you bring Shinku back to Rampage. It's still a DPS lose, but with optimization you can reduce the gap.
