Overview

There are a ton of customizable options within the Monster Hunter Wilds Settings.

Ideally you'll want to check out each one to find the best for your needs but it can take a lot of time to do so.

In this list, we'll try to save you time by highlighting the ones that are most impactful and widely recommended by other hunters.

This guide is written by Karunaguin.

Reticle Direction

Found on page two of the camera options, this crucial setting controls the positioning of your camera when using Focus Mode and firing your Slinger. This option allows you to control if the targeting reticle will be determined by the center of your camera or by the direction your character is facing.

In addition, this setting determines if the camera will lock onto targeted monsters. For hunters looking to create wounds with focused strikes and up their damage, finding which of the four options works best for you is a must.

Customize Radial Menu

Found under items and equipment, the customize radial menu option allows you to choose the items that can be quickly used by pressing your number keys as well as the items available for selection in the radial menu.

Whether you need to quickly heal mid-combat, pull out a trap and Tranq Bomb, or need a less confusing way to set up a pop-up camp, customizing your radial menu is sure to come in handy frequently throughout the game.

Camera Distance: Zoom

Found on page one of the camera options, this slider can increase the distance between your camera and your character, giving you a far better view of monsters’ attacks and environmental features you may be able to use to your advantage.

Weapon Attack Power Display

Found on page three of game settings, this setting modifies the damage numbers listed for weapons in menus accounting for the speed and moveset of a weapon when turned on.

display without coefficient

When comparing weapons or calculating the damage of your attacks, this is unrecommended given that it can cause confusion while comparing weapons and calculating the damage of your build.

Damage Numbers

Found on page one of game settings, damage numbers allows you to control if you’re shown the exact amount of damage you deal, a rounded version, or none at all.

damage numbers with decimals

Be it for comparing weapon types, keeping track of how much damage you’ve dealt to a target, or for showcasing your build, we strongly recommend exact damage numbers be displayed to keep you properly informed while playing.

Expanded Item Bar Cursor Speed

Found on page one of the controls settings, this setting allows you to control how fast you scroll through the items you have on you.

For those who have not yet set up a custom radial menu or wish to use items without hotkeys, it is crucial to be able to quickly and precisely select the item you need. Finding which of these settings is most comfortable for you may prove helpful in everything from capturing to emergency healing.

Disable ALT+F4/Disable Windows Key

Found on page two of the controls settings, these settings can stop you from accidentally quitting or tabbing out of your game.

Hunters looking to avoid awkward mistakes and lost progress are heavily advised to modify these settings from their default state.

Seikrit Auto Explore

Found on page three of the game settings, this setting determines the actions of your Seikrit’s automatic movement when it has no target.

If hunters wish to avoid being sent off in a random direction involuntarily while in the open world, it may be advisable to turn this setting off.

Seikret Manual Controls

Found on page one of the controls, this controls how you control the speed of your Seikrit.

Hunters looking for more control may wish to change to a more standard method — WASD or lack of — for speeding up, slowing down, and stopping than the default Shift and Z.

Auto-sheath

Found on page one of the controls settings, auto-sheathing determines if weapons will be put away after time outside of combat or if they have to be put away manually.

Hunters are free to choose if they prefer more control of their weaponry or if they prefer the game’s assistance to minimize misinputs outside of combat.
