Gore Magala can be found in the Iceshard Cliffs and Ruins of Wyveria.
Gore Magala uses physical and Dragon attacks, so level up your Dragon Resistance and bring
Nulberry to combat Dragonblight.
Most of Gore Magala’s attacks inflict Frenzy Virus, its signature abnormal status condition. Once you receive Frenzy, you will see a status bar on your conditions list that builds over time.
If left uncured, the Frenzy Virus will transform into a debuff that causes you to take more damage for a short period. This condition can also be cured with Nulberry, which will reduce the length of the status meter until it goes away entirely.
Throughout the fight, Gore Magala will eventually raise its horns, glow a vibrant purple, and enter Demon Mode. While in this form, Gore Magala will move faster, deal much more damage, and cause even more Frenzy Virus with its attacks. Breaking the horns seems to be the quickest way to take Gore Magala out of Demon Mode.
When Gore Magala is in the air, it will often return to the ground by dive bombing onto a hunter's head. Watch for the upward movement where Gore Magala lifts its whole body before turning into an immediate nose dive.
This is Gore Magala’s bread-and-butter move. It will strike with one of its two wing arms, typically in an overhead motion, from a variety of directions. Try to sidestep or block when the attacking wing arm is at full height before it strikes. In Demon Mode, these attacks become much faster, hit harder, and can be followed up with a quick sequence of even more wing attacks.
One of Gore Magala’s hardest-hitting moves is when it rears up with both of its arms raised, followed by a tumultuous downward crash. The move is very telegraphed to let you know to get out of the way immediately. In Demon Mode, this attack winds up quicker and has one-shot cart potential. Hunters beware!
One of Gore Magala's stronger moves is a breath attack that creates an exploding burst of the Frenzy Virus in its frontal arc. The arc travels just slowly enough to react and dodge or block the majority of the hit. Dodging under the legs during the windup seems like the best way to avoid this attack entirely.
Note: This attack can be performed while Gore Magala is in the air.
Gore Magala will dig one of its wing arms into the ground and upheave the ground as it travels, dealing a good chunk of damage to anything in the line. Once you see the wing plunge downward, be sure to block or dodge as necessary.
To hit targets at range, Gore Magala will fire frenzy virus projectiles from its mouth. These attacks either come as a single projectile or a series of three shots that curve to a focal point.
The single projectile is quick and easy to dodge, but the triple shot can be tricky. Moving hard left or hard right seems to be the best way to avoid the three projectiles instead of trying to dance around in the middle as the shots curve. If you get hit, you will almost certainly receive Frenzy Virus.
Note: These can be performed while Gore Magala is in the air.
This is Gore Magala’s ultimate move. This move combines the Dual Wing Slam with an exploding ground effect. The ground will shimmer with purple energy, and Gore Magala will trigger the explosion with its wing slam attack. Avoid the ground area with the purple energy, and you should be safe. If not, your results may vary…
If you’re in its face too much, Gore Magala can and will perform a sequence of bite attacks. This attack is usually foreshadowed by a slight raising of the head, so try to avoid it once you can see the tell.
Gore Magala will often charge between targets, which can be very disruptive to melee hunters by flinching them. In Demon Mode, this seems to hit harder and also cause knockback.
As always, make good use of the environment when a Slinger opportunity presents itself.
