Monster Hunter WildsDoshaguma Guide - Weaknesses, Location, Armor & More

Video Guide

Overview

Doshaguma is a powerful and territorial Fanged Beast resembling a massive bear. Roaming the Windward Plains in packs, it uses brute strength and coordinated attacks to overwhelm its prey. It can stand on its hind legs for devastating slams and relentless charges.

Facing a Doshaguma requires strategy. Isolating the alpha and using the environment to your advantage can turn the tide of battle. Prepare wisely, as this beast won’t go down without a fight.

Location

Doshaguma can be found in the Wetlands locale of the Windward plains, patrolling with its pack. Its den is located in a small corner of Zone 10, a barren area surrounded by rocks. It can often be seen hunting prey or scanning for nearby threats. Doshaguma can be also found in the central caves of the Plains.

Environmental Factors

Vine Trap: There are Vine Traps located throughout Zone 8. These can be dropped on unsuspecting monsters to render them helpless for a time. Doshaguma can be led under one during your fight to help give you the upper hand.

Sand Tide Weather Event: During this weather event, Doshaguma’s pack often splits up to avoid lightning strikes. This separates the Doshaguma from the group entirely, providing an opportunity to fight the Alpha alone. Using this time to your advantage is crucial.

Falling Boulders: On some of Doshaguma’s patrol routes, they may come across large falling boulders. Knocking the boulders down will deal significant damage to any monsters beneath and stun them for a short period.

Mechanics to Look Out For

Pack of Doshaguma

The Alpha Doshaguma is rarely alone, often roaming the Windward Plains in a pack of up to three other Doshagumas. While smaller Doshaguma have similar attack patterns, their damage output is lower. However, facing multiple at once makes this fight especially challenging, using with your Slinger is highly recommended to help disperse the herd and isolate the Alpha.

Slam Attack

Doshaguma slams the ground with either one or both paws, creating a small AoE in front of him. The attack may be blockable depending on how many paws he uses, but it is recommended to roll or parry. You’ll know it's about to perform a slam attack when it raises its paw or paws in the air.

Rock Toss

Doshaguma performs a ground-shattering throw, ripping up chunks of rock and launching them at nearby Hunters. One of its most dangerous attacks, it is telegraphed when it reaches its claws underground briefly before it launches the Attack, at this moment you can roll to either side of it to evade the Attack.

Savage Charge

Doshaguma lowers its head and digs its claws into the ground before Charging towards you at full speed. This high-damage attack will quickly cart you if you're not careful. When you see Doshaguma preparing his Charge Attack, be ready to dodge to either side to avoid getting hit.

Maneuver

Performing an evasive maneuver, Doshaguma swiftly attempts to reposition behind you, likely preparing for an attack. When multiple Doshaguma are present, this move makes it difficult to maintain focus on the alpha.

Weak Spots to Focus

  • Body Weak Points: Belly
  • Severable Points: None
  • Breakable Points: Forelegs, Tail Hair

Stomach

Their stomach is their most reliable Weak Spot, it shows itself in Focus mode whenever Doshaguma is about to use one of their large Slam Attacks. Landing a Focus Attack at this moment will cause them to tumble to the ground helplessly.

Tail

Their tail is Severable, though it is currently unknown if Severing has any effect during the fight.

Enraged Weak Spots

When Enraged many Weak Spots will burst open all over Doshagumas's body, giving you an opportunity to deal heavy damage with Focus Attacks if the moment arises.

Turf Wars

Doshaguma has been observed engaging in Turf Wars with with Chatacabra, Balahara, and even the mighty Rey Dau. When clashing with Chatacabra or Balahara, Doshaguma typically emerges victorious–unless Balahara uses its speed to outmaneuver them. However, when faced with Rey Dau, it is often on the receiving end of a devastating lightning bolt.
