Monster Hunter WildsBlangonga Guide - Weaknesses, Location, Armor & More

Overview

Blangonga, amember of the Fanged Beast species, has returned to the MH series as a Monster Hunter Wilds monster that is only found at High Rank.

The point in the story that you end of fighting Blangonga is a bit awkward because he's quite easy at that point in time, but he does have some tricks you should be aware of.

This guide is written by @dxvis.

Location

Blongonga is typically found at the Iceshard Cliffs.

How to Prepare

Blangonga is one of those monsters that has little friends with it. Whittle down the group so you can focus on an isolated 1v1.

With any fight at Iceshard Cliffs, you'll want your Hot Drink ready to fend off the cold.

You'll want to also consider bringing Cleanser and Nulberry due to its abilities that cause Iceblight or Frostblight.

Mechanics to Look Out For

Punches

Blangonga thrusts forward with one of its arms, dealing damage from that direction.

Forward Leap

Blangonga roars and signals he’s going to leap forward. While enraged, it can chain two leaps one after another.

Backwards Leap

Blangonga performs a small jump before leaping backward. This attack can be difficult to predict so avoid standing directly behind it.

Boulder Toss

Blangonga borrows its hands underground to throw a boulder forward, which deals damage and causes Iceblight. Time to use a Nulberry.

Ground Smash

Blangonga will stand on its feet and slam the ground after a delay. There is plenty of time to dodge either back or sideways.

Swirling Smash

Blangonga roars and punches around before doing a 360 degree swipe that knocks back hunters and deals significant damage.

Burrow

Blangonga can burrow into the ground and leap at a hunter’s position, knocking them up. Stay on the move to avoid getting hit.

Frost Breath

Blangonga can throw out an icy breath in a cone in front of it that deals damage and immobilizes hunters hit. Here's where your Cleanser comes in!
