Everything You Should Know About Marathon's Server Slam (Free Weekend)

Marathon's Server Slam, also known as the Free Weekend, begins February 26 at 10 AM PT and ends March 2nd at 10 AM PT. That leaves three days before its full launch on March 5th.

• Central Time (CT): February 26 at 12:00 PM to March 2 at 12:00 PM

Just like its full release, the Marathon Server Slam will be playable on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Is Cross-Play Available Between Platforms?

Yes, the Marathon Server Slam will have cross-play along with cross-save enabled.

Preloading will NOT be available for the Marathon server slam.

Will There Be a Long Queue?

With any major release, and especially for a Bungie game, you should expect there to be a long queue to play, especially on day 1.

In general, one of the purposes of the Server Slam is to stress test the servers before the full release, so don't be surprised if there is instability or crashes. If they do occur, hopefully the devs have enough time to solve the problem for the game's actual launch day.

Progression from the Marathon Server Slam does NOT carry over.

However, you are able to get the following rewards and loot based on what you complete:

• "Everyone who completes the introductory mission during the weekend will unlock a unique Beta.exe emblem and Complex Study player background that mark you as part of the first wave of Runners. These cosmetic rewards will be exclusive to Server Slam participants."

  • Weapons: Enhanced Magnum and Enhanced Hardline
• Reach Runner Level 30: Unlock the Deluxe Arrival Cache (Blue)

Is Ranked Mode Available?

Ranked Mode will NOT be available during the Marathon server test.

Are there Twitch Drops?

Yes, there will be five Twitch Drop rewards for various watch times:

• Twitch Sponsored Kit, aka Standard in-game loot (Watch for 1 hour)
• Profile Emblem: SMILEYworm (Watch for 1 hour)
• Profile Background: WEAVEworm (Watch for 2 hours)
• Weapon Sticker: GLOWworm (Watch for 3 hours)
• Weapon Skin (Style): HMG Twitch Engine (Watch for 4 hours)

As of now, both the Marathon Server Slam and full launch will only have solo queue and a squad queue. The squad queue can include pre-mades or auto-fill with strangers.

Similar to ARC Raiders, if the game does well, there is a good chance that a duo queue may be added, but as of now, it has not been confirmed.

Six out of the seven Runner Shells will be available to play during Marathon's Server Slam:

• Destroyer
• Vandal
• Recon
• Assassin
• Triage
• Rook

Thief is the only one that will NOT be playable until Launch and Season 1.

Out of the four maps that we know about, only two of them will be playable during the Server Slam.

• Perimeter and Dire Marsh will be playable
• Outpost and Cryo Archive will NOT be playable until Launch and Season 1

This is likely due to Perimeter and Dire Marsh being more beginner-friendly while Outpost and Cryo Archive are meant to be more for higher difficulty late-game runs.

• In Marathon, the six Factions grant you contracted missions that allow you to build reputation and unlock progression perks.

Only five of them will be available during the Server Slam:

• CyberAcme
• NuCaloric
• Traxus
• MIDA
• Arachne

Sekiguchi is the only faction that is NOT available for the Server Slam.
