RuneScape Dragonwilds 1.0 adds the Scorned Wilderness Raid, the confrontation with Kuldra, new equipment and changes to combat, crafting and travel. Whether you are returning with an established character or starting your first adventure, there are several systems worth checking before heading into the new content.
This guide explains the main additions, how to approach them and what to prioritise as you progress.
What Should You Do First in RuneScape Dragonwilds 1.0?
Returning players should check their equipment, review their skill unlocks and practise the updated combat before attempting Scorned Wilderness. New players should follow the opening quests and establish a base before working towards the endgame.
Before leaving your base:
Repair your equipment and check the weapons you have equipped.
Bring food, water, ammunition and the runes your spells require.
Review your skill unlocks and arrange the spells you use most often.
Leave inventory space for unfamiliar materials.
Plan your return journey before travelling into a dangerous area.
Scorned Wilderness is the new endgame destination, bringing the Kuldra Saga to its conclusion.
The region includes the Regicide quest, a Hub where you can build and a Raid area where building is prohibited. Use the Hub to prepare before entering the Raid.
Treat your first attempt as an opportunity to learn the encounters. Watch how enemies attack, identify safe moments to heal and avoid spending all your Stamina on damage. If you are playing with others, make sure everyone has finished preparing before moving forward.
Kuldra’s defeat concludes this storyline, while Jagex plans to continue expanding Ashenfall beyond the Dragon Queen’s saga.
Upgrading Your Equipment
The new equipment progression includes Rune armour for melee, Black Dragonhide for ranged and Ancestral Robes for magic.
Start by identifying the next upgrade for the combat style you actually use. Check its recipe and required materials before gathering, then prioritise the tools and processing stations needed to make it.
Runite and Luminite require an Adamant Pickaxe or better. Magic Wood requires a Rune Logging Axe, so check your tools before making a dedicated gathering trip.
When you discover unfamiliar materials, bring some home and check what they unlock. Keep them organised so you can find them again when a new recipe becomes available.
How to Use Wands
Wands are a new magic weapon type that favours mobility and faster attacks over the heavier damage output of Staves. They still build elemental effects such as Knockdown, Burn and Slow.
Use a Wand when you want to attack while frequently changing position. Create space, land attacks when it is safe and reposition before enemies surround you. Having a mobile weapon does not remove the need to watch your Stamina or leave yourself an escape route.
Try Wands and Staves against familiar enemies before committing to one for a difficult encounter. Pay attention to how comfortably you can attack, move and defend with each weapon.
Getting Used to the Combat Changes
RuneScape Dragonwilds 1.0 changes how you recover Stamina, use weapon specials and react during attacks.
Practice Parrying Before Difficult Fights
A successful parry restores 50% of your maximum Stamina and opens an opportunity for a Visceral Attack.
Practice against an enemy whose attacks you recognise. Watch its animation, time your defence and check whether you have room to follow up safely. Recovering Stamina does not mean you need to spend it immediately.
Weapon Special Attacks now spend a separate bar that gradually recharges. Their increased strength and reduced Stamina costs make timing them more important.
Use specials when you expect the attack to connect. Avoid spending the resource while an enemy is moving out of reach or when you are about to need a defensive action.
Cancel an Attack When You Need to Defend
More actions can be interrupted by blocking or dodging, including magic attacks and Skill Spells. Sprint attacks also give you another way to open a combination.
Keep watching enemies after you begin an action. If an incoming attack makes the situation unsafe, use your defensive options instead of trying to finish every combination.

Organise Your Base Around the Storage Improvements
The Storage Ledger deposits matching inventory items into linked chests. The Advanced Spinning Wheel also provides new processing recipes, while large builds benefit from faster loading.
Keep your storage organised by the materials you regularly bring home. After a gathering trip, deposit supplies, check your processing stations and prepare your next upgrade before leaving again.
Leave space around your crafting area for additional stations. Our RuneScape Dragonwilds building guide explains how to plan and expand your base.
Use Home Teleport and Prepare Your Return Journey
Home Teleport returns you to your claimed bed for 15 Law Runes and has a 15-minute cooldown. Active Lodestones also appear on the map, making your travel network easier to review.
Check which bed you have claimed before relying on Home Teleport. Keep its rune cost in mind when preparing supplies, and remember that the cooldown can prevent another immediate return.
Continue building a useful Lodestone network for journeys you repeat. Place travel points around the routes you actually use, especially between your base and regular gathering locations.
RuneScape Dragonwilds 1.0 supports crossplay between PC and supported consoles.
Before starting together, decide who will host and make sure everyone can join the same world. Give new players time to prepare their own equipment and supplies before taking them into difficult content.
