Archmage Build - Enshrouded 1.0

Updated on Oct 22, 2026
Oct 22, 2026

Overview

This Enshrouded 1.0 Archmage build combines mobile wand combat with a varied selection of staff spells. Start with reliable wand attacks, then develop your spell damage, critical hits and resource recovery as more skills and equipment become available.

The build uses Bloodletting and Good Metabolism to turn spell critical hits into opportunities to recover resources. Water Aura adds passive healing, while different damage types and utility spells help you adapt to the enemies you encounter.

It works for solo and group play, although managing distance and building enough health are especially important when fighting alone.

Archmage Skill Tree

This Archmage build focuses on wand and staff damage, supported by investment in Intelligence and Spirit. It also takes Water Aura for passive healing and Radiant Aura for additional damage against Fell enemies. Prioritize wand skills during early progression, as your wand is more reliable while your spell options are limited. When playing solo, invest in enough health to survive incoming attacks.

Archmage Stat Priorities

Intelligence supports your magic damage and the skills that scale from it. It benefits the build as you move from regular wand attacks into a wider selection of staff spells.

Spirit increases your mana pool, giving you more resources for spellcasting. Combine it with mana recovery from skills, equipment and consumables so you can keep using your staff throughout longer encounters.

Constitution deserves attention early, especially when playing solo. A larger mana pool will not help if an enemy defeats you before you finish casting. Add health through food, equipment or nearby skill nodes when survival becomes a problem.

Endurance is a supporting choice for movement and stamina. Take extra stamina when you regularly run short while repositioning, but keep your main investment focused on magic damage, mana and sufficient health.

Early Game Archmage Skills

Build around your wand first. It gives you a dependable attack while your spell selection, mana supply and crafting options are still developing. Take the connecting nodes needed to reach each recommended skill.

Mobility and Wand Attacks

Begin with Double Jump, then work towards Updraft for exploration. Updraft uses mana, so remember that travelling can draw from the same resource you need for spells.

Move into Blink to replace your dodge roll with a short teleport. Its upgrades can add an explosion or let you escape while stunned, giving you more ways to handle enemies that close the distance.

Your main wand targets are:

  • Wand Evasion Attack: Adds an attack you can perform while evading, helping you deal damage as you reposition.
  • Wand Specialization: Unlocks your wand’s special ability and expands your options beyond ordinary attacks.
  • Aerial Wand Attack: Adds an airborne attack for damaging enemies from a jump.
  • Wand damage and extra-projectile upgrades: Strengthen the weapon you will use most often during early progression.
  • Sting: Rewards repeated wand hits with additional damage.

These skills give your wand a useful combination of movement, area damage and regular pressure.

Mana Recovery and Healing

Take Unity for a chance to recover mana through damaging wand hits. Arcane Deflection provides another recovery option when you successfully parry an attack.

Add Life Burst for healing when you defeat enemies with magic weapons. It helps while clearing groups, but you still need another way to heal during encounters with few enemies to kill.

Work towards Water Aura and its healing upgrade for passive recovery. A small initial investment is enough to establish the aura for solo play; extra ranks that increase its reach become more useful when supporting teammates.

Pick up useful Intelligence nodes along these paths, including the Battlemage investment that grants Intelligence based on your Flame level.

Mid Game Archmage Progression

Once your wand attacks and basic healing are established, develop the resource recovery and staff skills that support a broader spell selection.

Bloodletting and Good Metabolism

Bloodletting gives spell critical hits a chance to spawn resource orbs. Collecting these can restore health, mana or stamina, helping you recover while continuing to fight.

Pair it with Good Metabolism, which increases the resources restored by orbs and improves health and mana potions.

Good Metabolism can be useful before Bloodletting is fully developed because its potion benefit is available independently. Prioritize it earlier if you frequently need consumables to stay alive or keep casting.

The combination becomes more valuable as you improve your spell critical chance. You still need to collect the orbs, so move towards them during safe openings instead of chasing them through incoming attacks.

Staff Casting and Mana Management

Invest in reduced spell charge time, staff damage and additional Spirit as you begin using your staff more regularly. Faster charging makes it easier to fit a spell into the gaps between enemy attacks.

Blast and Cast is an optional choice for players who regularly alternate weapons. A wand critical hit strengthens your next staff attack within a limited window. Take it if you can make consistent use of that opening; it is less valuable if you mostly stay on one weapon.

The skill that restores mana at the cost of health is another optional investment. Its trade-off matters on a fragile character, so avoid relying on it until your health and healing can support the loss.

Shroud Utility and Summons

The mid-game route also includes utility for longer trips through the Shroud. Shared Misery and nearby resistance nodes lead towards an effect that can restore Shroud time when you deal damage with magic weapons.

Treat this as extra breathing room while exploring. Continue watching your remaining time and plan a route out.

The summon-on-kill skill adds a chance to create a friendly skull companion after a magic-weapon kill. Additional summon investment is a flexible option once your main damage and recovery needs are covered.

Late Game Skills and Flexible Points

Build on your established setup with more wand and staff damage, magic critical chance and bonuses to the damage types you use most.

Useful later investments include:

  • Wizard: Improves critical strike chance with wands and staves.
  • Elemental damage nodes: Strengthen the elements in your current wand and spell loadout.
  • Critical-hit effects: Add extra-target damage or shock damage to qualifying magic critical hits.
  • An Intelligence-based maximum-health upgrade: Helps turn your main damage attribute into additional survivability.
  • Radiant Aura: Adds nearby damage against Fell enemies.

Take the maximum-health upgrade earlier if your health is holding you back. It does not need to wait until the rest of your damage skills are finished.

The build leaves room for personal adjustments. Extra Constitution, stamina, blocking skills or a longer Rested buff can all help, depending on what causes problems during your adventures.

Defensive effects that slow attackers or reflect damage are additional options. They provide support when you get hit, but positioning and avoiding attacks should still come first.

Archmage Weapons and Spells

Carry Wands with Different Damage Types

Keep a strong wand as your regular combat option and carry alternatives for enemies that resist its damage.

Fire, ice, shock and Shroud wands give you different options. Some wands also offer physical damage types, so inspect the weapon’s damage breakdown rather than assuming every wand behaves the same way.

Watch the feedback when you hit an enemy. If your attacks are repeatedly resisted, switch damage types and compare the result.

For more detail on how wand and staff setups fit into early combat, see our Enshrouded Early Game Weapons guide.

Build a Flexible Staff Loadout

Equip a staff in your ranged weapon slot so you can bring up spells while keeping your wand ready for regular attacks.

Choose spells for the situations you need to handle:

  • Shroud Beam: A damage option when you have a clear opening to keep the attack on your target.
  • Shroud Meteor: A heavier cast for moments when you have enough space and time to finish charging.
  • Chain Lightning: Another damage option to include in your spell selection.
  • Acid Bite: A quicker attack for enemies in front of you.
  • Bone Storm: Fires shards that explode.
  • Protective Barrier: Helps protect your position against incoming ranged attacks.
  • Healing spells: Provide recovery when you need more than your passive healing can supply.

Fireball, Ice Bolt and lightning spells also let you change damage types to suit the encounter. Expand the loadout as you unlock spells rather than waiting for every option before playing the build.

Choose staff bonuses that support the spells you actually use. A bonus to one element is most useful when that element forms a meaningful part of your damage.

Spell Charges and Eternal Spells

Craft available spells through the Alchemist and replenish the charges needed for your chosen loadout.

Eternal versions remove the need to consume spell charges for those spells, making them easier to use repeatedly. They still require mana, so your resource recovery remains important.

Longer casts also continue to need safe openings. Having an Eternal spell does not remove its casting time or protect you while charging it.

Armor, Skill Bonuses and Food

Look for mage equipment that improves your current skills alongside magic damage, mana and survivability.

Useful skill bonuses include Wand Mastery, Wizard and Bloodletting. Arcane Deflection is valuable if you use parries regularly, while damage-specific skills should match the spells and weapons you have equipped.

Invest a point in a skill before relying on bonus ranks from equipment. Additional gear ranks can take an invested skill beyond its normal point-investment limit, so read the updated tooltip when comparing upgrades.

You do not need one exact armor set to follow this progression. Use suitable pieces from the Alchemist and other upgrades you find, judging them by their actual bonuses.

For food and consumables, support Intelligence or magic damage, mana and mana recovery. Include enough health for the content you are attempting, especially when playing solo.

Carry both healing and mana supplies. Passive recovery helps over time, but it will not always cover a dangerous hit or an empty mana bar during a boss fight.

How to Play the Archmage

Use your wand to maintain pressure and create openings for the spell that best suits the fight.

  1. Check the enemy’s response to your damage. Change wand or spell damage types when your current attacks are being resisted.
  2. Keep moving between attacks. Blink, evasion attacks and airborne attacks help you reposition while staying active.
  3. Create space before committing to a staff cast. Longer spells need a larger opening than regular wand attacks.
  4. Use utility when it improves the position. Protective Barrier can help against ranged pressure, while healing spells can stabilize your health.
  5. Collect resource orbs when the route is safe. Bloodletting and Good Metabolism support recovery as the fight continues.
  6. Return to your wand when casting becomes unsafe. Rebuild your resources and wait for the next useful opening.

Against bosses, watch for recovery periods after their attacks. Use those windows for longer casts, then move again before the next attack begins.

In group play, teammates can create more opportunities to use your staff. When playing alone, be more selective about charging spells and keep a clear retreat route.
