Build Overview

The Lightning Storm Druid is a incredible leveling build that has screen wide AOE and crazy single target damage. It starts a little slow since you have to constantly stop to channel Lightning Storm to blow up the screen, but It'll still feel very strong. Once you hit level 30 you unlock Dash Claw increasing your mobility tremendously. At level 32 you unlock Hero of the Storm Lightning Storm, allowing you to carry the power of Lightning Storm without having to stop and Channel. From here you are absolutely unstoppable and can solely focus on keeping your Spirit up so the Lightning never stops flowing. The final piece of the build is Superinfection Rabies. Let's just say you're going to laugh the first time you walk up to boss and cast this even a single time on them.

Make sure to equip a pet in your wardrobe to help pick up gold and items. Don't forget to hire a Mercenary in "The Den" as soon as possible to start leveling them up and get their benefits.

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • Massive AOE
  • Insane Single Target

There are a lot of great Legendary Aspects that you can find to further increase your Damage and Toughness. At the end of the day you can equip whatever is an upgrade and not worry about what Aspects you find. If you do find any of the ones above, rejoice, you'll gain a ton of Damage or Toughness

This build like many prioritizes the following stats on gear:

Offensive

  • Willpower
  • Critical Strike Chance
  • Critical Strike Damage
  • Weapon Damage
  • Ranks To Skills

Defensive/Utility

  • Spirit Per Second
  • Resource Cost Reduction
  • Maximum Life
  • Armor
  • All Resistance
  • Life on Kill
  • Movement Speed

Tempering

Throwing some Tempers on your gear can greatly increase your damage early on, but keep in mind you'll replace gear often while leveling up. Don't invest too heavily into your leveling gear until you're getting close to level 70.

Runewords

Cir + Gar provides tons of Critical Hit Chance that works great on almost any build. I'd avoid putting this Runeword in gear super early as you'll wish you had it once you reach level 70 and have 850 item power gear.

Nagu + Ceh gives you Wolves which is another way to apply Vulnerable to enemies. The same rule applies here, I wouldn't toss this Runeword into an item before you get to level 70 and waste it, unless you have spare.

Talisman

Talisman Priority
+3

For the Seal Resource Cost Reduction, Damage, Critical Strike Chance, Critical Strike Damage are all good options to look for.

On your Charms it's unlikely to find this full Set while leveling up. look out for stats like Life, Bonus XP, Resistances, All Stats, Cooldown Reduction or Ranks to Werewolf Skills.

Scythe Talons under the Eagle Spirit is another good option, especially if you have Accelerating Aspect and Aspect of the Moonrise.

Rotation

  • Use Dash Claw to jump between enemies and keep your Spirit up.
  • Before level 32 Cast Lightning Storm manually to clear enemies. After level 32 you'll simply turn it on and it will continue to channel until you run out of spirit.
  • Superinfection Rabies is your elite and boss killer. Spam it on them instead of worrying about Lightning Storm.
  • Use Blood Howl to restore a ton of Spirit while you're Channeling Lightning Storm.
  • Earthen Bulwark is your source of toughness, use it when going into a dense battle or while fighting Elites and Bosses.
  • Poison Creeper passively gives you Fortify you can also cast it to immobilize enemies.

Level 30 Change your Viper Strikes Claw to Dash Claw.

Level 32 Change Supercell Lightning Storm to Hero of the Storm Lightning Storm.

Level 34 change Earthen Shrapnel Earthen Bulwark to Travertine Bulwark Earthen Bulwark.

These 3 changes are huge.

  • You'll now be able to dash from target to target giving you insane mobility.
  • Your Lightning Storm is simply a turn on/off Skill now and will continue to blast everything around you until you run out of Spirit.
  • Now Earthen Bulwark gives you Resolve stacks on top of the Barrier giving you even more Toughness.

Mercenaries

Subo gives you Map Hack, Movement Speed and applies Vulnerability.

Raheir as reinforcement gives you a huge Toughness boost as well as makes enemies take more damage.
