Build Variants

Mythic Version

This mythical version of the Dread Claws build is meant to be a balanced all-rounder.

Unlike some of my other builds, the mythic items here are actually necessary. This is a strong endgame version that covers pretty much all your needs, damage, survivability, mobility, and clear speed. It feels very complete once you have the mythics in place.

Skills Note

One quick thing about skills: if you don’t have the set bonus from the Beru of Harash's Shadow charm yet, you can run Sigil of Subversion on your skill bar.

Once you have the set charm, you can take it off because the charm automatically leaves the sigil behind while moving.

Nether Step should become your Evade once you get the most OP item in the build — those unique boots.

Until you find them, you can keep Nether Step on your skill bar. Once you have the boots, it automatically cast on evade and you won’t need to slot it anymore.

Stats & Farming

In terms of stats, I think just stacking maximum HP is an insane damage multiplier. It might not be the absolute best for pushing high pits, but if you just want to play the game, never die, and feel basically immortal while one-shotting everything… it’s still the best choice.

For mythic items, your best bet is probably farming Belial, Andariel, and Duriel.

If you’re specifically looking for Ring of Starless Skies and Heir of Perdition, those are the bosses to hit. And if you’re trying to target farm other specific uniques, then Belial is always the best place to go.

Talismans

Talisman

For the talisman, the best choice by far is the set charm Beru of Harash's Shadow.

Being in Shadow Form reduces the damage you take by 25%, which is incredible for survivability. On top of that, it automatically leaves a Sigil of Subversion behind while you move, so you don’t even need to use the sigil skill anymore.

The real power comes from the 5 set bonus, which increases the damage of your Abyss skills by almost four times. That’s massive.

I’m using Anathema of the Primes just to get even more damage.

This combination makes the build feel really strong and smooth.

Stats

For stats, you want to prioritize maximum life and ranks to Abyss skills.

A lot of people like to stack maximum resources, but I think maximum life is just better. It gives you both damage and defense at the same time. Especially before you have a ton of maximum resources, maximum life is the stronger and safer choice.

Paragon Board

Glyphs & Paragon

For glyphs and Paragon, you can take any legendary nodes that increase your damage.

Don’t spend too much time trying to fully complete one board. Just prioritize grabbing your legendary nodes first.

I don’t have a fully optimized Paragon board yet because the new expansion just dropped. So for now, focus on the legendary nodes early and worry about glyphs later, especially since you won’t have maxed glyphs at the beginning of the season anyway.

Mercenary

For mercenaries, I’m running Subo. His Opening Fire skill gives a nice increase to critical strike damage, but the real reason I like him here is the extra movement speed you get whenever you damage elite enemies. It’s always welcome.

Our secondary mercenary is Varyana. She gives a solid chunk of attack speed through her Bloodthirst skill, which feels really good with all the minions running around.

How it Plays

  1. Keep Metamorphosis active as much as possible. It’s your biggest damage multiplier, so pop it whenever it’s up and try to maintain it.
  2. Spam Dread Claws, this is your main source of damage and your primary skill.
  3. Use Demonic Smash Rampage as your mobility skill. It’s great for repositioning and closing gaps quickly.
  4. Cast Dark Prison on cooldown, especially on large packs of enemies.
  5. Keep Profane Sentinel active whenever you can. This is your main way to apply Vulnerable to enemies.

That’s pretty much the entire rotation. Keep Metamorphosis up, spam Dread Claws, move around with Rampage, and drop your utility skills when needed.

Nether Step should become your Evade once you get the most OP item in the build, those unique boots.

Until you find them, you can keep Nether Step on your skill bar. Once you have the boots, it automatically cast on evade and you won’t need to slot it anymore.

How it Works

We are playing an Abyss-type build, and the main keyword for Abyss is Recast.

We are using the Mastermind Shard, which makes our Recast skills apply Hex to enemies. This increases the damage they take from us. Because we’re using the Mastermind Shard, we constantly consume Shadow Form stacks, so we have multiple ways to generate them:

  • We generate Shadow Form stacks when we Evade (once you get the unique boots).
  • We also generate stacks by walking on the trails left by Sigil of Subversion, which is automatically cast thanks to the set bonus from Beru of Harash's Shadow.

Other than that, we just stack a ridiculous amount of multipliers.

For this balanced version of the build, we play with the passive Damage Scaling Metamorphosis, which gives 2% increased damage for every X bonus maximum life we have. We also use Terror Demon Metamorphosis, which adds all ranks of Metamorphosis to our Abyss skills (around +15 ranks in the planner). It also gives us more ways to generate Shadow Form stacks.

Because of this, it’s really important to get enough cooldown reduction or ultimate duration so that Terror Demon Metamorphosis can stay up as much as possible.

That’s the core idea, keep Shadow Form high, keep Metamorphosis active, and just spam your Recast Abyss skills while everything melts.
