Build Overview

This build is a Hammer of the Ancients and Call of the Ancients build, that lets us pummel our enemies with a giant bonking mace. Every time we hit the an monster with Hammer of the Ancients a group of ancients jump in and smash down on them too, dealing increase damage every time thanks to The Relentless Heart.

Additionally we turn our Hammer of the Ancients into fire damage thanks to the Ancestral Hammer of the Ancients node, letting us smash fire damage too, so we can pick up extra damage from Cremator's Aspect.

To summarise this: big fire smash

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • Big Smash FUN
  • Easy T12
  • Bosses melt in seconds even in T12
  • Not as good AoE as pure ancient build

Uniques and Unique Charms:

There are a ton of useful uniques for this build, and some are competing for other spots, because of this you have a hard choice on which unique to turn into a charm. Here are the competing spots:

Chest: The Relentless Heart is perfect for this build. But we can almost double our Toughness with Tyrael's Might

Neck: Banished Lord's Talisman has gives 12% damage x 12 stacks on crit, so 144% damage boost. But Aspect of Heavenly Strength is amazing for defence, giving us 60% damage reduction.

Helmet: Tuskhelm of Joritz the Mighty Gives us huge damage + CDR, but Heir of Perdition is HUGE damage.

For this reason, I'd equip what we have above, and then place Banished Lord's Talisman in our charm slot. If you manage to get a mythic seal that lets you have space for 2 unique charms, go for Tuskhelm of Joritz the Mighty aswell

Additionally if you don't have the mythics listed above Tyrael's Might and Heir of Perdition take the other options.

Tempers:

Any offensive tempers, we will go for "Damage per overpower stack". We can hit upto 12 stacks, so a max roll on this being 15%, is 300% extra damage, which easily beats any other temper.

Defensively you want a spread of whatever your gear is lacking; life, armour, resistances etc.

Talismans

Talisman Priority
+6

We go full Bul-Kathos tier set + Banished Lord's Talisman (see reasoning for this above).

Take anything on your charms that buffs Hammer of the Ancients. "2-3 to martial skills" is an easy one to hit.

How it Plays

This is super easy to play:

  1. Jump in with Leap, summoning ancients and doing damage and starting your fury regen.
  2. Buff with your shouts Rallying Cry, War Cry.
  3. Cast Call of the Ancients for big damage and to proc Vehement Brawler's Aspect.
  4. Slam Ancestral Hammer of the Ancients on repeat and melt everything.

How it Works

We gain damage multiple sources:

Overpower:

We can get upto 12 overpower stacks on Barbarian, mostly through Dominate and Arsenal Bonus Leap (giving us overpower when using a bludgeoning weapon).

We then deal massive damage just from having overpower, regardless of if we actually use it.

  • Tempers give us 15% extra damage per overpower. which is around 180% damage per temper and we can have 7 different items with this temper for HUGE damage.
  • Dominategives us stacking AND scaling damage per overpower
  • Crusher gives 20% damage with overpower

Critical Damage:

Like most builds this season critical damage is incredible. We can get increases to critical damage multipliers and critical damage everywhere. We and we have a ton of critical hit chance to match. Right now I have 60% critical chance, that increases as our buffs go off.

Ancient Damage:

We have the BerĂº of Bul-Kathos' Pride that gives us additional ancients when bonking enemies, and tons of damage on top of it. Combined with multiple aspects that also increase ancient damage. Arreat's Bearing further boosts this too along with our skills.

Beserking:

A staple in Barb builds, giving us movement, damage, crit and more with Blood Rage and Carnage. We are always beserking thanks to Aspect of Anger Management.

Fire Damage:

Ancestral Hammer of the Ancients turns our main ability into fire damage, letting us gain a big damage boost from Cremator's Aspect and stack in Ruby gems to our weapons for big damage. As we're a barbarior with 4 weapons, this is a BIG boost. If you hit a gem strength trasfigure too, gg
