Build Overview

If you're looking for the best starter build in Season 13, Static Field Blizzard is the strongest and this guide will teach you all you need to know to hit the ground running and do some massive early damage!

IMPORTANT - Static Field Blizzard will not unlock until you are ~level 30. You can use my IncinerateHydra build found here: https://mobalytics.gg/diablo-4/builds/incinerate-sorcerer-leveling until then easily.

Skills

Fire Bolt 1/15 Points: Utility spell, extra points do nothing for us

  • Resource Generation Fire Bolt Generates resource for us during boss fights
  • Twin Flame Fire Bolt Double the mana regen and double the overpowers

Frozen Orb 1/15 Points: Utility Enchantment, applies vulnerable to everything for us as well as applies Crowd Control.

  • Barrier Frozen Orb Provides some defense through shielding.
  • Duration Bonus Frozen Orb Flies longer = more stuff becomes vulnerable
  • Shattered Path Frozen Orb What applies "Vulnerable"

Teleport 1/15 Points: Utility Spell, Extra Point stun a little longer, but not enough to devote + points into

  • Ferocity Teleport Attacking faster means faster rotations and smoother gameplay
  • Weaken Teleport Allows us to be more tanky
  • Wormhole Teleport Can now double teleport

Ice Armor 15/15 Points: Makes you invincible due to armor effecting general damage reduction rather than just Physical Damage.

  • Cooldown Reduction Ice Armor Smaller Cooldown means its up more often
  • Duration Bonus and Barrier Ice Armor Longer uptime and more armor
  • Permafrost Ice Armor unstoppable means we cannot be crowd controlled + even more armor

Frost Nova 15/15 Points: Elongates the freeze duration which comes in handy in a tough situation.

  • Resource Generation Frost Nova Hit Stuff = Get mana back
  • Vulnerable Frost Nova Free Vulnerable application for +20%[x] damage multiplier
  • Cold Front Frost Nova Can now cast at target location means no more putting yourself in danger to freeze anything.

Blizzard 15/15 Points: Main Damage

  • Damage Bonus Blizzard We freeze very often with Frozen Orb and Frost Nova, More Damage
  • Seek and Duration Bonus Blizzard More uptime = More Dps
  • Static Field Blizzard Scales at wild amount, make no sense. Big Damage


Ultimate:

Unstable Currents 15/15 Points: Massive DPS Increase

  • Cooldown Reduction Unstable Currents Shorter CD = More Burst Cycles
  • Damage Bonus Unstable Currents More Damage
  • Thunder God Unstable Currents Echoes cast to do even more dps. This will be replaced by Boundless Unstable Currents once we have enough cooldown reduction and Esadora's Overflowing Cameo

Mercenary

Subo: Map hacks are over powered. Also boost DoT damage and Static Field Blizzard is a DoT

Aldkin: Gives Damage Reduction, we are sorcs and therefore we are squish.

How it Plays

Static Field Blizzard is Scaling to the actual moon at the moment. It has been bypassing 10,000% Weapon's Damage over a 1.5 second period on it's own with no other buffs. This amount of base damage makes it by far the strongest scaling ability Sorcs have to offer at this time. This has been patched and therefore Static Field Blizzard does not have this scaling anymore. It is still a very strong leveling build but "the best" is now in question.

Important Note: Static Field Blizzard is a DoT Ability! Do not stack critical hit chance or wear anything that empowers critical strike damage as Static Field Blizzard will not be modified by either.

Unstable Currents in Tandem with Aspect of Armageddon and Boundless Unstable Currents are interacting in such a way that is multiplying our Static Field Blizzard by a factor of 20x or more damage. Our goal is therefore to maintain Unstable Currents in the future, but for now:

  • Use Unstable Currents against High Prio Targets, they will fall quickl


The build is fairly easy:

  1. Cast Static Field Blizzard to do damage
  2. Cast Unstable Currents to do bigger damage
  3. Cast Ice Armor When bad stuff on ground
  4. Cast Frost Nova When you either:
    1. Bad Position to Freeze targets
    2. Need Mana Resource Generation Frost Nova
  5. Cast Fire Bolt If you Desperately need mana

Wormhole Teleport Has some cool tricks

  1. Combo 1 - Teleport > Enchant Teleport
    1. This allows you to reset the cooldown on teleport completely. It won't go on cooldown and therefore with proper timing, you can teleport every 2.5 seconds.
  2. Combo 2 - Teleport > Enchant Teleport > Teleport > Teleport
    1. You can pull off a very fast quadruple teleport with no cooldown in gear or skills.

This build honestly just plays itself and will carry you all the way to the Endgame as we improve upon it. Good luck and have fun!

Build Overview

Defenses

  • Aspect of the Unwavering when taking damage there's a chance to reset the Cooldown of a Defensive skill which are Ice Armor, Flame Shield and Teleport
  • Aspect of Disobedience gives you armor by attacking enemies with any form of damage or by taking damage from enemies. You'll need to do damage at least once every 4 seconds to maintain the extra Armor it gives you.
  • Aspect of the Deflecting Barrier this gives you a chance to gain a Barrier when an enemy attacks you.

Offense

  • Glacial Aspect give your Blizzard Ice Spikes that spawn periodically. This becomes your main source of damage. This is one of the most IMPORTANT aspects for this build to do some serious damage.
  • Aspect of Biting Cold makes your Frost skills deal more damage and have a chance to apply Vulnerable.
  • Edgemaster's Aspect increases the damage of your next skill cast based on how much Mana you have.
  • Storm Swell Aspect increases all of your damage while Ice Armor is active.
  • Aspect of the Frozen Wake whenever you have Ice Armor you spawn additional Ice Spikes and it also increased the damage that your Ice Spikes do.
  • Aspect of Frozen Memories makes Avalanche give your Frost Skills 30% resource cost reduction and it increases the damage you do to Vulnerable enemies.

Mana Management

  • Wizard's Blizzard will give you Mana Generation while Blizzard is active.
  • You can add Lum to any run combination to help offset Mana costs.
  • Because we are using a Two-handed Staff you can also add the affix for Resource Cost Reduction.

Runes

  • Yax + Lum for Mana generation.
  • Yax + Tec for extra Area of Effect damage.
  • Cir + Ceh gives us Spirit Wolves that apply Freeze for Hoarfrost and Vulnerable for 20% damage.
