THIS BUILD WILL BE UNDER TESTING THIS SEASON. WE’RE BASICALLY STARTING FROM SCRATCH WITH THE PLANNERS, THANKS FOR YOUR PATIENCE.

IMPORTANT

Ok guys. There’s actually a way to trigger more Freeze on bosses. And that’s through Lucky Hit Chance to Freeze on the talisman set. That alone is probably enough. Also stacking a lot of Crowd Control Duration on boots and gloves helps a lot. This probably works with every build honestly. So yeah, this is basically the meta right now. We’ll be testing it

  • Gift of the Stag helps with Spirit sustain so you don’t run dry during gameplay. If your gear is well-optimized, you can drop it and switch to a Prickleskin damage boon or Wariness for added resistances.
  • Avian Wrath is the best option to increase your critical damage in this build
  • Calamity increases the duration of Grizzly Rage, allowing you to stay in that state longer and deal more damage
  • Masochistic gives you berserking and more damage
  • Calm Before the Storm is an essential boon for resetting Cataclysm through Lightning Storm and Shred. This allows you to push safely while your cooldown refreshes much faster.

The core mechanic of the build revolves around permanently freezing enemies. The Signet of Pelghain increases damage by 20% for every second enemies remain Frozen, creating massive scaling during long freeze windows. To consistently apply Freeze, we use the Ceh rune together with Freeze Chance tempering on the Totem.

Another key interaction comes from the Azurewrath charm. After Freeze expires, enemies explode for 120% of the damage dealt to them, functioning similarly to a mini Old Mountain effect. This creates extremely explosive damage windows, especially during Vulnerable phases on bosses.

Defensively, the build is centered around Aspect of Glynn's Anvil. This aspect grants 4% Damage Reduction per Resolve stack, making Resolve Stack tempering on the chest, pants, and amulet extremely important. Combined with Earthen Bulwark and Great Storm Aspect, the build becomes surprisingly tanky while maintaining very high damage output. Tyrael's Might is also one of the strongest defensive options available thanks to its Damage Reduction, Resistances, and Movement Speed.

For damage, Waxing Gibbous is the core weapon because it greatly boosts Shred and allows additional strikes. The Totem uses the Crushing Aspect for a permanent 65% damage increase while Fortified. Overcharged Aspect on the amulet is mandatory to apply Vulnerable with Storm Skills, while Archdruid's Aspect on the gloves massively boosts Critical Strike Damage.

Finally, Heir of Perdition is the best helmet option for maximizing damage, while Ring of Starless Skies remains one of the strongest overall rings due to its incredible stats and utility for the build

In this build, rings like Thundergod's Blessing and Dirge of Airidah can work really well too. But they need to have stats very similar to Starless Skies in order to truly compete with it directly

Talismans

Talisman Priority
+7

Use the set name as reference, since the bonus shown on the website is currently incorrect

The Storm Shepherd talisman is the core of the build and completely transforms Storm Skills into our main source of damage. The 2-piece bonus allows Storm Skills to consume all available Spirit to massively increase their damage, which is why Spirit generation through Blood Howl is such an important mechanic in the build.

The 3-piece bonus gives us Cyclone Armor for free while also granting a huge amount of Damage Reduction, making the build much tankier overall.

Finally, the 5-piece bonus is the strongest part of the set. Storm Skills gain chances to Double Cast and Triple Cast with massive bonus damage multipliers. This dramatically increases the overall damage of Shred, Lightning Storm, and Cataclysm while also generating a huge amount of extra hits and procs constantly

The most important mechanic in the build is Blood Howl. Even though our skills don’t spend resources normally, the 2-piece Storm Shepherd bonus increases damage based on Spirit spent. Blood Howl constantly generates Spirit instead of Life, allowing us to maintain the maximum damage bonus almost permanently. Combined with Healing Blood Howl and Malefic Crescent, it creates an infinite loop of Spirit generation, healing, and damage scaling

Lightning Storm, Shred, and Cataclysm are the core damage skills of the build, with Shred being the main source of damage. Hero of the Storm Lightning Storm makes Lightning Storm follow us permanently, while Storm Shred Shred converts Shred into a Storm Skill to fully benefit from the Storm Shepherd set bonuses

Paragon Board

The Paragon setup focuses on scaling all Storm Skills equally while improving Critical Strike damage and Spirit generation. Electrocution and Thunderstruck are the core damage boards, heavily buffing Lightning Storm, Cataclysm, and Shred. Lust for Carnage helps maintain Spirit for the Storm Shepherd set bonus, while Dominate synergizes with Earthen Bulwark for extra damage.

Sinister Tendrils constantly poisons enemies thanks to the huge amount of hits and procs in the build, and Ancestral Guidance provides a consistent damage increase while also scaling Cataclysm with our maximum Spirit

Mercenary

How it Plays

Activate Grizzly Rage, then use Lightning Storm to engage in combat

Use Shred to start dealing damage while the storm follows you

Use Cyclone Armor to pull enemy packs together and optimize your damage.

Activate Blood Howll to gain its defensive and offensive buffs

STORM SHEPERD VERSION

Activate Hurricane first to apply Weakened and reduce enemy damage, then cast Lightning Storm so it follows you permanently. After that, activate Cataclysm and jump into enemies with Shred to destroy everything. The build has no resource issues and Calm Before the Storm constantly resets your ultimate, making the gameplay extremely smooth and easy to play

How it Works

This build works thanks to the Ifeh's Dire Totem, which allows us to use our Werewolf abilities during Grizzly Rage, since it transforms us into a Dire Werewolf instead of a Werebear

The main mechanic behind this build is maintaining high Spirit regeneration to sustain both Hero of the Storm Lightning Storm and Shred simultaneously. This increases your damage while also rapidly resetting your ultimate cooldown through Calm Before the Storm

This is where two essential resources come into play to keep both your Spirit and damage high. First, you need enough Spirit regeneration to continuously cast Lightning Storm and Shred. You’ll achieve this through affixes, boons, and Paragon, as explained in the previous sections

For damage, Critical Strike Chance is crucial due to how fast and consistently this build hits. That’s why prioritizing it—along with Critical Strike Damage Multiplier—is key to maximizing your damage
