Build Overview

Back in Season 9 Kruszyn made a very good companion build that pushed high level of pits, the build was forgotten in season 10 after becomingRavens popular due to the new unique Kilt of Blackwing and a very powerful chaos perk. Now Wolves are more spammable, Ravens needed a chaos power to become a core skill, meanwhile Wolves can more easily reset it's cooldown with simple lhc and Packleader.

Build Variants

Based on Tower Pushing Technology

This build is for pits and doesn't work as well on normal maps, it's to push as high as possible and it's based on the popular wolves builds for pits.

We start by taking Wariness for the damage reduction — as I will mention further in the guide, this build can be quite squishy.

For Eagle, I also take Iron Feather, another defensive choice, with of course Avian Wrath for the 40% multiplier.

For Wolf, we have to take Packleader — the must-have boon the entire core of the build revolves around it. Without it, you cannot reset the cooldown of your wolves, which are your main damage in this build. Not by virtue of their auto-attacks, but their active. This type of minion build is quite different than what Necromancers play, as there's a more passive build when you play Necromancer, but the Druid one is more active.

Lastly, we take Calm Before the Storm as our last boon so that we can recover the cooldown of our ultimate — and that's because we are turning our companions into a Storm Skill with the unique Storm's Companion.

Core Items and Requirements:

he Spirit Boon Packleader and the Storm's Companion are the two most important and only requirements for the build.

Next, we have legendary aspects that, even though not being requirements, are still pretty core to the build. The Aspect of the Alpha is a giant multiplier for companions and is very important to the build, and so is the Aspect of the Stampede.

Lastly, the strongest aspect we have access to is the Shepherd's Aspectnumber, which increases the damage of your companion skills by the number of companions that you have.

Key Items Farming for Wolves

Heir of Perdition
Best farm: @Belial (highest Mythic drop rate overall).
Strong alternatives: Tormented @Duriel / @Andariel (double Mythic rates).
Craft: Jeweler with 2 Resplendent Sparks + specific runes (Cem/Ohm/Tzic x6). Also Helltides, Tree of Whispers.

Shroud of False Death
Best farm: @Belial (top Mythic spot).
Alternatives: Tormented @Duriel / @Andariel.
Craft: Jeweler with 2 Resplendent Sparks + @Bac/@Moni/@Kry x6 each.

Storm's Companion
Best farm: @The Beast in the Ice (Glacial Fissure, Fractured Peaks – Druid-specific).
Alternatives: @Grigoire, Helltide chests, general Torment+ world loot / Nightmare Dungeons.

Pro Tip: Farm Torment 4 (T4) for 7 guaranteed Ancestrals per boss. Get Lair Keys from Helltides/Tree. @Belial lets you target any boss table + extra Mythics. Ready for your guide/video!

Blooded Affixes Priority (Season 12)

Blooded affixes are one of the biggest new power spikes in Season 12. Here’s the clean priority order I recommend for every build:

S-Tier (Always take first)
+3% Primary Core Stat per Killstreak
This is the single best blooded affix in the game — no exceptions. It scales insanely well with any killstreak playstyle and gives massive stat stacking.

A-Tier (Strong situational picks)
Lucky Hit Chance (great for any Energize or Lucky Hit-focused builds)
Attack Speed (only if you’re not already attack-speed capped)

B-Tier (Solid but lower priority)
• Maximum Life
• Movement Speed
• Cooldown Reduction
• Life on Hit

Elixirs and Incenses

ElixirElixir of Advantage
Core IncenseSpiral Morning
Defensive IncenseSong of the Mountain
Resistance IncenseSoothing Spices

For elixirs, we have the Elixir of Advantage — the attack speed and lucky hit chance are both really powerful, especially because the most important boon we use, Packleader, requires lucky hit chance.

Spiral Morning to increase all of our stats to better get Paragon buffs. Song of the Mountain for the 300 armor and Soothing Spices for resistances.

Mercenary

For mercenaries, I take Bastion on Raheir, because I like the extra defenses, the build can be quite squishy, and I also use Aldkin for more defenses with the Field of Lament. On top of that, Raheir will also give us 15% more resistance to all elements, which comes in handy.

How it Plays

Quickshift needs to be stacked before you can use Grizzly Rage, to do that use Claw and then turn Human by using Wolves, Ravens or Cyclone Armor.

  • Activate Grizzly Rage to empower your skills.
  • Wolves can be spammed whenever you get a reset with Packleader
  • Reset Packleader with Claw
  • Trample to remove cc effects on your character.
  • Debilitating Roar against hard enemies like Elites is going to help keeping you alive.

How it Works

How the build works.

This Diablo 4 build is centered around the active Wolves skill. It has a cooldown, but you can bypass it by proccing our Spirit Boon Packleader. To get that proc rolling, we stack Lucky Hit Chance from the wolves' basic attacks.

How the proc actually works (step by step):

Every single hit you or your companions land triggers this chain:

  1. Lucky Hit roll: Your total Lucky Hit Chance (stacked from gear affixes, tempers, paragon nodes, elixirs—aim for 100%+) vs. a random number. If it hits, Lucky Hit triggers.
  2. Crit check: That hit also has to be a Critical Strike (your Crit Chance determines how often this happens).
  3. Reset roll: If both 1 and 2 pass, there's a flat 30% chance to reset the cooldowns on ALL your active Companion Skills (like Wolves' summon, Ravens' flock, etc.).

Your companions inherit 100% of your stats, including Lucky Hit and Crit Chance, so their basic attacks are proc machines—especially Wolves, who swing non-stop.

Amulet - Good stats

Call of the Wild, Envenom, Toxic Claws are the best mods.

Masterworking and Greater Affixes Explained

Masterworking

  • Since Season 11 Masterworking no longer increases your item’s affix values. Instead, it improves the Quality of an item, which gives a bonus to the base damage, armor, or resistance of an item.
  • Items can be Masterworked to a maximum Quality threshold of 20. Each time you Masterwork the item, it adds a random amount of Quality to the item (from 2-5 levels). Once at maximum Quality, you can roll it one last time for a Capstone bonus.
  • This Capstone bonus upgrades a random non-greater affix on your item into a Greater Affix. You can then choose to re-roll the Masterworked Greater Affix, without resetting your Masterworking Quality. Re-rolling the current Masterworked Affix will cost Obducite and Neathiron.

Greater Affixes

Greater Affixes (GA) on an item force the affix to roll at the top of it's range of possible values and then applies a 50% increase to its value. GA increases are additive with Masterworking increases.

In this planner, the yellow star to the left of an affix denotes that is a GA.

Masterworking and Greater Affix Priority

Unless a certain amount of a stat is required and no more, like in the case of Attack Speed Breakpoints, Armor and Resistances, the Capstone Bonus is not necessary.

Guides, which follow a Starter -> Midgame -> Endgame progression, are structured such that the difficulty of the MWing outcome and amount of GAs on items also progresses as expected.

For example, a Starter variant will generally have 1GA items. A Midgame variant will generally have 2GA items. An Endgame variant will generally have 2GA/3GA items with a perfect Capstone Bonus.

From this you can derive that the GA on the starter version is the most important, the second GA added is the second most important and the third GA added is the third most important affix.

When GA and Capstone don't align you are most likely in the presence of a stat with a certain threshold you have to meet or a cap and those will be explicitly stated in the guide anyways.

In the case of Uniques GA and Capstone, progression standards are generally shifted by one as they are easier to MW because they have 4 affixes and also easier to acquire with multiple GAs.
