Build Overview

The Brandish Paladin Build Guide teaches you about Gear, Skills, Paragon, Playstyle & Seasonal Mechanics in Diablo 4 Season 12.

Brandish focuses on dealing the most possible damage with a Basic Skill, activating synergies through Aspect of Adaptability, Aspect of the Moonrise and stacking as much Maximum Resource as possible. Once you have found the new Paladin Unique Supplication, Brandish turns into a Area Damage monster and can even shotgun a huge enemy with multiple hits.

Oaths

Disciple Oath allows us to ascend to Arbiter of Justice form without casting it. While also increasing our Brandish damage. We use Condemn and Falling Star for that purpose. Fortress is used to further increase our damage by leveraging Enhanced Fortress.
Fanaticism Aura is used for the Attack Speed and Critical Strike Chance it provides along with the Weakness it applies. Also, Enhanced Fanaticism Aura is hugely important for this build to scale Aspect of Adaptability. Defiance Aura Rite of Might provides damage and also a source of Unstoppable.

Elixirs and Incenses

ElixirElixir of Resourcefulness
Core IncenseSpiral Morning
Defensive IncenseSong of the Mountain
Resistance IncenseSoothing Spices

It's important to run Elixirs and Incenses at all times. Not only because they increase your Experience gain but also because they provide very strong combat boosts.

We use Elixir of Resourcefulness for Maximum Resource and Ancient Times for Strength.

Soothing Spices and Reddamine Buzz makes us tankier.

Mercenary

Raheir with Shield Charge + Raheir's Guard and Provoke + Iron Wolf's Ward is used for Armor + Damage but it can also be replaced with Subo, as Armor is no longer a massive scaler of damage after the Castle nerfs.

Varyana with Bloodthirst gives us Attack Speed to get more out of Preacher.

How it Plays

  • Pull enemies together with Condemn
    • Run into the enemy and position yourself right on top of them
  • Hold down Brandish.
    • With Returning Light Brandish and Supplication you want as many waves to hit as possible.
    • Run inside of big elites to shotgun them.
  • Use Fortress to actually be able to survive standing in all sorts of trouble
    • Re-cast to move Fortress.
  • Use Defiance Aura and Fanaticism Aura to reduce your cooldowns through Resplendence.
  • Use Falling Star for mobility.

How it Works

Core Mechanics

Damage

Supplication turns Brandish into a high damage AoE skill. We then further buff it by using Aspect of Adaptability while stacking Maximum Resource and Aspect of the Moonrise.

We use Disciple because it buffs Brandish's damage and allows us to ascend into Arbiter of Justice with Condemn and Falling Star.

Fortress is used with a Resolve Generated and Maximum Resolve Tempering Affixes to get damage from Enhanced Fortress.

Fanaticism Aura and Defiance AuraRite of Might are another source of damage in the build.

Defenses

We can use Fortress to generate Resolve, which provides 20% Damage Reduction, and also become Immune to damage in key moments.

Runes

Early on, useCir + Gar for Critical Strike Chance, once we get Heir of Perdition we can swap this out.

Cir or Igni + Thul is used for Vulnerable, CC for Dizzying Blow and [x]15% damage.

Igni + Vex is used to increase our Skill Ranks.

Amulet Affix Priority

Getting multiple great passives on an Amulet can be tricky or expensive here is a Tier List for all the Affixes you can get on your Amulet.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are we taking Rite of Might, how are we generating Resolve?

We generate Resolve with the Courage Passive that is granted to us by Shroud of False Death.

Alternatively, on some builds we generate it more consistently with Clash or Fortress.

Where are we getting Fortified from?

  • To count as being Fortified, any amount of Fortification will do.
  • We boost the Fortified amount with some magic nodes on Preacher.
  • Raheir, your mercenary, also provides a bit of Fortify through his ability.
  • Renewal gives Fortify and is provided by Shroud of False Death for free.
